Sad, I thought so... And was I right about the puzzles on the rocks? - are they made from materials in the "rocks" tab?

So it turns out that it won't be possible to make a night map either? You can't change day to night in the editor... Too bad. :plastisad:

Everything was made with the in-game editor. There's no terrain editing tools, so I had to create a floor with rocks & scaled meshes.
This also meant that I couldn't make a pool lower than ground level, and instead had to increase the height of the floor around the pool.
The stone texture I have at the bottom of the pool is one of the stone floor meshes placed slightly above the default ground height to cover the grass.

Also I don't understand how to change the height of the landscape (or do you just use rocks?).

Hi! I'm trying to create a map, but I've run into a problem - a swimming pool. The entire area is covered with grass and I don't understand how to change the texture of the ground so that the bottom of the pool is made of stone. I also don't understand how to lower the ground level in the pool area so that there is depth. I figured out how to make the water itself, but I can't find the first two functions in the built-in editor. Or do you create maps not in the built-in editor?

I solved cyclic by breaking the cube out of Rebuilding Connections and using it to get onto the walls and then to the end room . I know that's cheesy way of doing it, but it worked.
Bonesun 29 Jun @ 6:01am
Yes. The solution that I found and hinted at below goes on without end. I can't remember the exact phase of the target activation, and as there are two possible related configurations it will probably vary accordingly, but it never ends.
pAnguin 28 Jun @ 6:07am
I solved cyclic, but I want to know intended solution.... my solution was blue->red->blue&red->end. Is intended solution 's cycle never end? like blue->red->both->blue->red...
Bonesun 19 Jun @ 8:11am
@bebbocxvii, I had the same problem with the out of phase cycle, but accidentally blocked one of the beams and suddenly realised I'd solved it! I'd hate to give the impression that I reasoned my way to a solution.
bebbocxvii 18 Jun @ 1:01pm
@Bonesun thanks to your hint i managed to solve Cyclic the intended way. The actual solution is pretty convoluted, trial and error may work better than reasoning on this one.
Also, unfortunately, sometimes the correct setup results in a out of phase cycle that needs to be "reset" manually, making it even harder to realize that you got it.
If someone is in need of a more detailed hint: there are two possible solutions to this puzzle, 180 degrees symmetrical to the central slab
Bonesun 17 Jun @ 5:14am
I have been musing on bebbocxvii's comment; it's difficult to hint at the solution without giving it away completely, but this might help:

As Rocket has already said, the slabs on the ground give a clue to connector placement. The two outer connectors, when connected to the necessary sources/targets have rotational symmetry and the third connector drives a wedge between them.

It's quite elegant when up and running.
Bonesun 16 Jun @ 4:53pm
Cyclic was hard. Took me about as long as all of the other sigils and stars combined. The solution makes sense when you complete it, but it isn't glaringly obvious.
bebbocxvii 15 Jun @ 11:26am
I managed to finish Cyclic in an unintended way. If you create a cycle that switches both the blue and red receivers on at the same time, so that the barriers turn off and the fans turn on at the same time, sometimes you can still pass through the fans if you run at an angle and hit the barrier exactly at the moment it opens. Just keep on hitting the barrier and eventually you will pass through.
I am still unable to solve it properly, any help?
dneufeldt 14 Jun @ 9:39pm
Well done, Cyclic was hard, and lift off was stupid easy, but i guess a helpful into to another mechanic
Kezian2Late 9 Jun @ 4:52pm
@Rocket

I seem to be able to get one clock going at a time in Cyclic, but I never was very good at color cycling puzzles. I had to use a lot of freebies in TP2 to get past them, and the principles of their operation never made a lot of sense to me.

I do see the idea, but I can't seem to get a cycler that alternates between Red and Blue. I can get Red (or Blue) and neutral , but even using Photo Mode for an overhead shot I can never quite seem to get my head around how the alternator is supposed to fit together.

The rest of the puzzles are great fun, though. Higher Ground 1/2/3 and their associated star were fun, and Rebuilding Connections I thought was the least "gimmicky" of the puzzles, requiring the least fiddling with lasers - I also was able to get its star relatively simply once I realized what was being asked of me.

As long as I don;t have to do another lame a.ss recorder puzzle.
诺诺可是大神 5 Jun @ 10:33pm
这题的确很难
Rocket  [author] 5 Jun @ 3:08am
@Tetramouse
It shouldn't, but sometimes you may need to block a source to offset the laser timings. You will know this is the case if everything de-powers at the same time. I think this happens if you get unlucky with the timing of when you place the last connector
Tetramouse 5 Jun @ 2:56am
@Rocket
I managed to make a cycle for one of the colors, and one for both that didn't have enough time to let them charge, but i still don't understand how to do it. Does the solution require some sort of interference from the player to start the cycle?
Rocket  [author] 5 Jun @ 2:08am
@Tetramouse
Cyclic is probably the hardest puzzle (as any laser clock puzzle will be). Without directly spoiling the solution, the starting configuration is designed to be somewhat of a clue. The grey stones are also hint as to where the connectors can be placed to solve the puzzle.
Tetramouse 2 Jun @ 2:57am
I'm very confused about how to do cyclic
shlam 29 May @ 11:18pm
@myah and dad: lift off is a very jank puzzle. you jam the first gate while placing the barest fraction of its foot on the pylon in front, then have to grab the platform and jump around underneath it until the jammer slips through the geometry enough to fall on your head
dad 1 May @ 6:23pm
Lift Off doesn't seem possible, is there a weird mechanic with the plate that I'm not aware of...?
MYAH 30 Apr @ 6:53am
How do you solve Lift Off?
Chaest 22 Apr @ 10:06am
Great map
Hook 21 Apr @ 2:10pm
The fact that "Lift off" is solved like that is mind boggling, I dn't think this is straight out of TP2.
shlam 19 Apr @ 6:16pm
yep, clicked immediately when not trying to use more advanced methods, ta!
shlam 19 Apr @ 8:06am
Got it, I'll revisit with that in mind. Will probably all click now that I'm not trying to overcomplicate it.
Rocket  [author] 19 Apr @ 8:00am
It's a purely signal strength puzzle, connectors should only change state when you place. No laser cutting, automatic powering/de-powering, or placing connectors behind gates are required
shlam 19 Apr @ 7:51am
@Rocket - I understand the signal strength side of it. Making it through to the final area is easy enough. It's the setting up of a repeater that cycles between red and blue. I've even been able to do that, but it doesn't charge the red long enough and at that point I grew frustrated because I felt I'd "solved" it consistently with the puzzle logic. I'm guessing one or more connectors need to be locked behind gates which open/close, but all the trial and error lost me.

Hint: The puzzle "Chain" from Talos 2 Orpheus Ascending DLC :)
Rocket  [author] 19 Apr @ 7:17am
@Nazario92
Yes, Using the cube to breakout the connector is the intended method to get the star
shlam 18 Apr @ 2:39am
i really enjoyed the higher ground series and star. stuck on starting over. i know how to solve it conceptually but finding the right config with so many connectors is tough. any hints?
Nazario92 12 Apr @ 3:57am
Very nice, both the looks and the puzzles, especially the first map, especially cyclic
do in rebuilding connection you have to bring a connector outside using a cube? I did that but I think it's not the intended way
ps I used the same idea of lift off in a cpuple of levels I'm gonna publish
