If I'll make it, I will upload it as a separate mod because this current old one is nice as well - simplistic, while keeping the player in control of what (and if) to choose.

You will have it fully your way after all heh - the mix of manual and distance ridden perks didn't work. All the perk levels will be based only on the ridden distance in the end.

Each horse will have a different order of getting them and at different distances.

I have done Bitterklee, Tarant and Soldier so far. I will try to make Pebbles and Herring before I leave for the Easter tommorow afternoon...

Maybe I could release at least a version that will include the horses from the 1st map. I could make that in time and finish the rest of the horses when I get back.

I succeeded, so I will probably do it the following way:
- perks I and II in all 3 specializations will unlock automatically by the distance ridden on a specific horse (10km-18km-26km-34km-42km-50km)
- perks of LVL III will be unlockable only manually for 1 perkpoint

Thanks for elaborating on your thoughts/concerns.
Sounds like making them fully dependant on the ridden distance might be more balanced if one tweaked the buff amounts or horse starting values...the latter sounding tedious .

I have a working prototype with Tarant horse for the future version. But I am not making it the way to unlock these perks by distance ridden. I want the player to have some decision-making when he will be chosing between the vanilla vs these perks as each of these is powerful.

- by riding a specific horse 5km (let's say Tarant), the player automatically gets free "Bond - Tarant" perk that is connected only to that specific horse
- "Bond - Tarant" perk will serve as a prerequisity for the perks from this mod (I will make the perks for each horse individually)
- if the player wants to clear & redistribute previous horse's invested perkpoints, he can do it the standard way - drinking the Laethean Water (the potion that in KCD1&2 resets the perks)

This update is going to be there to prevent cheesing (a horse with my new perks gets very expensive and the horse vendor always takes the stats of the selling horse against the stats of the buying horse, to calculate the price).

You can have 7 of the new 9 perks at a time. That mean 7 perks needed in total. That at Horsemanship LVL 30 still leaves 6 perks to work with. Tacticze/prioritize... if you want everything, you can just do via a cheat.

Btw., it's made the Horsemanship perkPoint way intentionally - so the people can max their horse, but only at the price of not having something else in the skill tree. Even 1 of the new perk is pretty powerful, it needs to come with a price like this.

Binding them only to the ridden distance, would allow everybody to have every Horsehmanship perk and all of these new ones at the same time. That I wanted to avoid.

Imho it should only be ridden distance that matters.

But actually it's a good idea to combine it also with the ridden distance requirement. I will look into it maybe for a next version...

It's not about the distance ridden. It's about the Horsemanship level - you unlock these perks the same as all the other standard perks in any skill/attribute. Reach a required level and spend one perk point on each.

How far do you have to ride a horse for the upgrade to kick in: 25, 35, 45k?
