somebody needs to make "refit mod" for AOTR ... all factions have access to the ship refiter have re fit versions of most of the ships . think of it . i see a lot of fun in a mod like that.. it will spice things up and make the game more interesting

"Across many Empire at War mods, lasers have always felt slow and underwhelming to me"

I feel the same way. I like AtoR; it's been my favorite mod since the beginning. I was absolutely satisfied with AOtR 2.8. But the space combat changes in 2.9 robbed me of the immersion. Especially what they did with the lasers. And for example, why is the arquitens class now an artillery ship?
I hope you can bring the immersion back. Im looking forward to this Mod, Keep up the good work. Sry for my English

Probably just not "ready for prime time" yet - it is WIP.

Will keep an eye on this, it appears to do similar things to what I did with my own file edits - just make basically all ship live a bit longer and shoot a bit more. Usually in favor of whichever faction I am playing. It is a *LOT* of work, and "balance" is difficult.

@hellscream I apologize about this.. The capitals and frigates for the rebels haven't had some meaningful changes and I plan to fix this soon. On my current build it's much better.

This Sub-Mod is too unfairly balanced in favor of the empire IMO. I had no way to fight back.

@R. Dodger I've never played Dark Times but if it changes base AOTR unit stats or adds new units it might not work correctly.I wouldn't bet it's fully compatible though.I change lots of base unit stats and lots of projectile modifiers.

Does this work with the dark times sub mod?

@darthvader66 I stated prices weren't finalized yet but I did just push a new patch out that fixes almost all those pricing errors I hadn't adjusted. Still have some things I haven't changed but it should be good.

Why does the CR-90 cost as much as an MC-80

@Horus_Lupercal I appreciate the feedback! I will say the goal of this submod was to make the battles feel more "movie like" over fairness or balance. Like I mentioned in the description but this is mostly just personal changes that I thought were fun and posted because some people asked.

I would just consider this sub-mod for eye candy and more or less roleplay and not so much balance or whatever. Meant to be casual and light gameplay changes with my own twist. If it would help though I may consider making a light version of this sub-mod for AOTR 3.0 when it comes out that is just a less relaxed version of Fog of war and the laser changes.

@LoreLTW I have another patch I've been tweaking some things and it does include some types of lasers to be more accurate. It's not by much but the main turrets on most ships will be a bit more accurate. Aside from that secondary guns/flak will remain fairly inaccurate. Thank you for the feedback!
authentic_tincan 8 May @ 7:56pm
can you also add the reinforcements submod to this?
black000fyre 8 May @ 5:29pm
oh a submod that fixes the absolutely horrendous fog of war? Love it. I like a lot of changes the mods this is made for. but Fog of War is just so bad. it's so short that you can't do any real strategy. just drop everything and move it forward slowly until you find the enemy.
Horus_Lupercal 8 May @ 4:11pm
Well, some opinion time.
Lasers
Yeah, that's looks more cinematic... But, accuracy is SO bad! Now battleships and cruisers absolutely no needed. If in original AOTR you try use some "balanced" fleet, now i just mass CV and gunships/corvettes with fleet tender's. Fighters and bombers just don't care what to destroy.
Economy & Build Times
NO sir, just no.
damn, I want to feel the value of my ships. Cheap and fast production of spaceships kills their value in battles, I just mass it whatever. The player WANT take care of his ships, not stamp them and send them to auto fight.
As a result, with this submod the "picture" looks better, but gameplay worse.
I understand, perfect accuracy, like in absolute chaos mode just a joke, but now all heavy ships no needed. And do production cheeper and faster - bad way to balace, i want beat AI (i know it SO bad in this game) with my limited forces were combined different ships to achive victoria, no just trying to spam him.

Hello there, I really like your ideas and I love the increase of laser firerate... but the innacuracy made the space battles quite unenjoyable, maybe increasing the accuracy will make the space battles feel better! (sorry for my english haha)

will i need to start a new save for these changes to apply

Hey Akimbo, All valid points and stuff I plan to tweak so do not worry. I plan to lower missile troop ranges and put their shooting rate back up to be slower. Also I'm with you on those bombing runs they have become fairly abysmal in my own playthrough and I do plan to fix that. If you have any more critiques please feel free to comment them. Huge thank you for trying out the submod!
Akimbo Deagle 6 May @ 2:58pm
good ideas here, adds more of a feeling that the empire is actually a real empire with the production time/cost changes. That being said, the inaccuracy modifier is way too extreme, in space it feels fine and although the range feels broken its not as big of a deal as it is on the ground. Missile troops are OP and launching rockets like machine guns, and bombing runs are very VERY inaccurate and miss the target completely which I'm not sure was intended. Those are my main critiques but I am still enjoying the experience but if you could change those inaccuracy modifiers to apply just to lasers that would greatly improve the experience, thanks!
