To follow up on what I commented earlier and what you replied, you might be interested working with this guy for the event listener and fixing the micromanaging issue : WOTC Nice Mission Debriefing

@呕泥浆
Good, glad you fixed it.

@Dragon32
You were right,after adjusting the file encoding, it's no longer showing squares or garbled text. I really appreciate it!
Dragon32 9 Jul @ 4:15pm
@呕泥浆
Check the text file encoding. I think it needs to be UTF-16 LE-BOM for both .chn and .cht
呕泥浆 9 Jul @ 2:22pm
I tried creating a .chn file to localize the UI into Chinese, but ended up with only blocks and garbled text.
I'm not sure why this happened—it didn't occur when I personally localized other MODs.
Has the author considered Chinese localization?

"Pack some 64x64 images in a .upk" is a thing done with the modding tools. If you want to give it a shot:

It would be possible with an extensive system of event listeners and unit values. Stuff happening in a mission and triggering things in strategy has been suggested before in this and other mods of mine. The reason you don't see it, is because I don't have the knowledge of that aspect of the game to make it yet. I don't think it's hard to learn, but it's not trivial and not something you can pick up while doing other stuff.
Daddy Takeda 3 Jul @ 6:03pm
@grammarsalad
I agree, I played with this mod a couple of hours and although it is very fun feature, it is a lot of micromanaging, to remember what medals you have and what everyone has done in a mission. It would be nice and a lot more smooth if medals were coded to be given automatically upon meeting the requirement(s).
Daddy Takeda 3 Jul @ 6:01pm
How do you "Pack some 64x64 images in a .upk"?
grammarsalad 2 Jul @ 9:39pm
Is it possible to make it so that metals can be automatically assigned under certain conditions (e.g. getting 10 kills, or surviving bleed out)?
Daddy Takeda 1 Jul @ 4:18pm
Me again, sorry. It would be nice that medal icons already used be hidden in the icon's selection box.
Daddy Takeda 1 Jul @ 4:16pm
Oh, just gonna mention this too, but as someone else mentioned, there's either no way to delete a medal we created ourselves, and that's quite annoying actually, OR we failed to find how to do it. Hope this option come in a future update! :D
Daddy Takeda 1 Jul @ 4:14pm
Thanks for this, this is very precious! There's a bug though, quite annoying imo, and it's you can't "back" from the page using the right button of your mouse, unlike everywhere else in the game. Don't know if it can or should be fixed, but thought about mentioning it just in case.

I just spent hours trying to go into this mod in order to see if I could tinker to make the medals give soldiers bonuses related to how they got them. Credit to all of you modders out there for getting this stuff made because I have an insane headache now and no progress to speak of. AgRipnus, I am in favor of adding utility/perks attached to these medals. They don't even have to be balanced.
AgRipnus  [author] 30 Jun @ 8:45am
You don't. It's a safety feature to prevent people from accidentally deleting a medal that is owned by a soldier. Medals you don't want can be left blank or can just be repurposed.
Gerishnakov 29 Jun @ 5:04pm
Possibly a silly question - how do I delete a medal I unintentionally created?
EtriusSierra 28 Jun @ 6:25pm
Ah. Yes I can. I didn't think to look in the commander's quarters, I rarely go there for anything.
Thanks. :>
AgRipnus  [author] 28 Jun @ 10:35am
Can you not just give him the medal in the commander's quarters?
EtriusSierra 28 Jun @ 7:42am
Greetings. After completing an eight-person retaliation mission in LWOTC TedJam, I went to hand out a medal to a soldier who did really well, only to find that this particular soldier was not on the medal list; only the other seven soldiers were present. I suspect this was due to the eighth soldier being renamed mid-campaign, after a viewer of mine assumed control of them via a Twitch redeem.

The Repairman aka Dragon deserves his medal. Thanks. :<
tiktaalik 27 Jun @ 3:11pm
Awesome, thank you!
AgRipnus  [author] 27 Jun @ 1:40pm
Medals from one save can't be moved to another running campaign. But the LogMedalsToConsole command should log the medals in your launch.log in the correct format to be added in the XComMedals.ini under the existing default medals for a new campaign.
tiktaalik 27 Jun @ 1:05pm
Is there a way to transfer the custom medals that I created from one save to another? Or maybe make them in a local mod? Thanks!
AgRipnus  [author] 27 Jun @ 11:24am
I've mentioned before that not allowing multiples of the same medal on the same soldier is an executive decision. I do not plan on adding it to this mod. This does not prevent any other modder from making it as a separate add-on, they are more than welcome to, but it's not going to come from me.
mfitz1970 27 Jun @ 9:47am
Are you planning to fix it so if a solider earns more then 1 of the same medal it will show up as something like x2 next to like say if they get hurt on more missions the mod will display more then 1 purple heart per wound?
Dragon32 26 Jun @ 11:30am
@tiktaalik
I think Y. Valerunner knows that they can , they just forget to and so want something to force the choice on them.
tiktaalik 26 Jun @ 11:15am
You can award medal in the avenger screen, post mission.
Y. Valerunner 26 Jun @ 6:24am
I would highly recommend a way to force the medal page, or auto-award some medals to certain things.

I recommend after the Skyranger lands, but before the loot table is shown. I always forget giving these out and I feel bad for my soldiers.
tiktaalik 22 Jun @ 5:27am
That would break balance. So no, it won't be cool.
Oddish 22 Jun @ 4:32am
Adding medals for units that accomplished certain difficult tasks and giving them perks/stat increases (as in XEW) would be quite cool indeed
tiktaalik 19 Jun @ 10:31am
@ Evil
Yes
Evil incarnate 16 Jun @ 6:08pm
So it's just cosmetics?
jamesjamozo 15 Jun @ 11:04am
Fantastic Mod, also minor spelling mistake - "Van Dorn Doorn Ribbon
Kallybra 14 Jun @ 12:09am
I was adding medal text emojis to my soldiers via their description and named them, so you can imagine how happy I am that you've created this mod:lev:
LightenedDark 13 Jun @ 9:01pm
This looks really cool. I think there should be an extension of this mod that gives mechanical benefits. They should be juuust enough that you'll think about doing something impractical or difficult purposely, like 1shotting a chosen.
Apostivox 12 Jun @ 9:28am
I know I said this a couple of days ago, but this mod is really amazing. Such a great RP tool, thanks so much!
david.kahil1 12 Jun @ 2:36am
love all these mods
tiktaalik 9 Jun @ 7:46am
My reason was that I made a "The Real MVP" medal, as I don't always agree with the Nice Mission Debriefing MVP. So I'd love to track those, to see who gets the most MVPs at the end :)
Spartan 9 Jun @ 3:56am
Absolutely love the mod, would love an option for it to track how many medals soldiers have gotten. Would be great to see 10x purple hearts for example
tiktaalik 8 Jun @ 10:26am
Hmm, I hope you reconsider :) Or maybe you make it a config option.

Why do you think people will juggle numbers?
AgRipnus  [author] 7 Jun @ 10:16am
No, and that's an executive decision not a limitation. I don't want people to have to juggle numbers every time they try to give or take medals.
tiktaalik 7 Jun @ 10:05am
A soldier can't have multiples of the same medal, can they?
Puro 3 Jun @ 4:25pm
It says in the mod description that you can create a medal at any time, but (and this may be a nitpick) it doesn't appear that you can do it during tactical/combat segments
Azimuth 2 Jun @ 11:30am
Nice mod. However, it would be much better if we could see medals either in soldier list (there is enough place for it near soldier's name) or in soldier's UI right before mission start. Or better - both variants.
Wolf Renegade 31 May @ 5:32pm
A niche suggestion but would it be possible to have the UI compatible with the mouse?, I am not sure how to explain it but if you enter any other menu you're able to right click to back out, but for the medal menu you always have to click back every time. Very niche but I thought I'd mention it in case it's something doable.
Lichoff 30 May @ 10:01am
It would be nice if the same medal could be given multiple times to the same soldier and it would keep track.
AgRipnus  [author] 27 May @ 10:49am
This might be the easiest fix, ever requested of me. Will do in the next update, alongside adding the nicknames to the post mission menus as well.
Garr Incorporated 27 May @ 10:26am
Please fix the default medal name. The legendary man's name is not Van Dorn, it's Van Doorn.
Dragon32 26 May @ 3:22pm
@Yuuko
I'd suggest using Rusty's "LifeTime Stats Redux" over the original, if you're not already.
Yuuko 26 May @ 1:17pm
Awesome mod! I've use the lifetime stats mod for some stat tracking to use for awarding medals. For those interested, things lifetime stats tracks are:
Shots taken, Hits/Misses/Grazes, Crits, Hits/Miss Streaks, Avg Hit%, Avg Crit%, Tiles moved, Repeater Executions, Damage Dealt/Taken, Grenades thrown,
Apostivox 23 May @ 5:26pm
Amazing mod! I really appreciate you AgRipnus!

Also, can I really thank you for your excellent mod description too! You are obviously very capable and intelligent because the way you've formatted your mod page is very professional. I'm so sick of reading mod pages with huge grammatical, spelling and formatting mistakes!

Some mod pages don't even appropriately explain what the mod does, or answer any anticipatory questions!! Grr!
