I want to get back into making mods and such, and have quite a few WIP ones, but finding the time nowadays is a nightmare.

I've been using the 2008 versions for a while, ever since I rebaked the normal maps for the new uploads I've loved how they look. I got a newer version of ZBrush in order to get a better looking bake, and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. So much smoother.

The 2006 one is mostly guesswork, there's some leftover meshes that seemed like earlier versions of the survivors, and matched up to some old screenshots. Whether this was the exact model set used or not, I'm unsure, but for the sake of having the versions I could find included, they're used.

To be honest, my 2008 ones still aren't 100% official. They feature a few custom things, but they were made/added purely because it was planned. In the texture files for the TRS survivors, there's an unfinished Bill viewmodel normal map, so I took the worldmodel ones and put them on the viewmodels, technically not accurate, but it was a feature that would've been added had they been finished. I did some general viewmodel modifications based off a few PSD layers and the general texture changes they did in 2008, but had no idea if that was ever a thing, they're just layers, could've gone unused, could've been in the game, there were a few TGAs with those layers enabled/disabled, so I just did whatever. I might replace the textures for the viewmodels in that pack, since they are still technically custom, but nobody has complained and most people use the 2007 version, so I never bothered.

you're definitely more knowledgeable and mature than most "beta" cults i've seen
another reason i prefer staying with your versions, even if the textures change
i take pride knowing you've done research and spent time and effort on them

Zombie dog is a prime example, old, but a good one. Some guy said "oh these sound files mean there was a zombie dog in the game!" When it was just the name of the stock sound files, they had nothing to do with some 'cut enemy'.

well that's reliving to know, I understand what you mean, it's kind of like being an archaeologist who puts together a dinosaur skeleton with the most accuracy and care somone could do but then someone else just puts the bones together in a way they feel is "cool" or "stylistic".

It's just a land of misinformation and the more that's added the more people get wrong, and it gets to a point that one-off mods and jokes turn into what people think was official.

Oh I'm not deleting anything, don't worry about that. Just stating my opinion is all. I'm just not a fan of seeing something I've spent ages researching tossed around like a salad with completely unrelated things thrown in. I'm not gonna remove my work, I stand by it, and for what it's worth, the people who've made *some* of these recent mods, they're not bad at what they do, the textures are decent. I'm just not a fan of the way the words and 'stylizations' get thrown around, it skews perceptions of what things really were like. That's my personal view on it.

but for what it's worth, and i'm sure i'm not the only one, i appreciate you
there's been so many different versions of these, before any "era"
so i'm glad there's a bit of variety with yours, as well as versions working properly
while there's a few "beta era" items i enjoy, like hazel's sky boxes, i get it
does indeed feel like it's overstayed it's welcome, and been here long before now
fairfield terror and zero and whatever else back then was just an appetizer
however, please don't remove these, as i said, yours feel like they're done right
don't worry, it'll blow over like any trend or phase and people will forget about it
people still losing their shit over that whole nightmare mod pack, for example lol

The 'beta' era of the workshop has come and I hate it. I uploaded these purely for preservation, and included the sources for the same reason. Now people are making these stupid mod packs and calling everything 'Terror' or 'Beta' styled. I do not approve.

most of the differences can be seen in screenshots, some more specific details I only found out through finding the original models, and I can't be bothered to explain, like "oh his face got slightly wider" type stuff

2006 survivors have static eyes, everything's on one to two textures, mildly different textures and model shapes compared to later revisions , and no shine
2007 survivors have source eyes, custom textures per mouth, and some updated model shapes, they also added shine
2008 got downscaled textures, but added normal maps, gave Bill a darker beard, Louis a hoodie and bandolier, and Francis got some mesh edits in his armpit area to have smoother deformation

The lore behind the name is I hacked it together, I didn't want to be known by my old username anymore, and there was a character I liked at the time named Sinox, I liked how the name sounded but didn't want to just straight up steal it, so I chopped the beginning off and made Ox, but that didn't sound quite right, so Oxxy was born.

The 2006 models have static eyes and a different mouth texture, Zoey has a slightly different texture and mesh shape, same with Louis, Bill is a bit different in shape and his UV is altered. Francis has some minor changes model wise. These aren't 100% accurate as the original 06 models absolutely sucked, their weight painting was horrendous, and Zoey's old texture doesn't exist so I had to remake it, I also couldn't find the exact Bill model used in 06 so he's based off a slightly earlier variant, he's mainly thinner.
