This mod has spoiled me, I can no longer accept any other mod while I play. Great job.
Thank you for the kind comments!
I do not play with CBP, or any other large gameplay-changing mods, so I would have to say that there currently exists no integration with it. Based on feedback I have received, the Civ may be slightly broken when run with CBP or any other similar balance-changing mod -- she generally becomes quite OP because those mods typically boost the same areas she gets bonuses to here.
I have received a few requests to provide some compatibility, but that is currently a low priority - I want to get her expansion update out first. Mod compatibility will then be provided separately in an add-on mod, where I can fine-tune or re-do the balance for each mod.
You do not recieve any trade routes from technologies (such as by researching Animal Husbandry) but you should recieve the bonus trade routes from Wonders such as the Petra and Colossus normally. I have no code in the mod that prevents them from granting the bonus, because the Rowen HQ and Guild Branch buildings grant their free trade routes using the same mechanic as these Wonders. The code only strips bonus trade routes from technologies.
@DEZERKER
I do not have any plans for CivBE, mostly because I did not enjoy BE enough to bother purchasing it. Perhaps at some point in the future when more DLC/expansions arrive I may pick it up, assuming it becomes an enjoyable experience by then. However, even then, I'm not so sure about making a Civ about trading space wolves... If anything, my plan would be to pivot toward the more sci-fi stuff, such as Gundam and Macross.
@Talik Borchikef
As KIdanor stated, you need to build the Rowen HQ to get your first set of additional trade routes. Past that, you must build the Guild Branch buildings to recieve more - you get one for each branch you build, so build plenty.
Any opinions on how this integrates/balances with the community/balance patch?
First you need to build markets in all your cities. Then you must build Rowen Trade Guild HQ national wonder. After that you gain access to Trade Guild Branches (this will upgrade into Trade Guide Hubs and Inns with later technologies), which you can build in all your cities with a market and will give you one trade route each.
By the way, you cannot gain trade routes by discovering technologies or by building Petra and Colossus.
Thanks! Glad you like it! Wheat is definitely a very attractive resource for the Goddess of Bountiful Harvest.
I'm glad you like this mod! It was definitely fueled by passion and love for Spice and Wolf after I finished the story, or else I wouldn't have made it this far, haha. There are a lot of things that can come up over a year of development that can make you not want to continue pouring effort into something like this.
As far as why this Civ is designed with an initial Gold purchasing penalty, there are a few reasons actually.
It's a bit lengthy and too long to post as a comment here, though, so I've posted a response to you in my "Balance Discussion and Feedback" thread, located on this page, above these comments, in this mod page's Discussion area.
don't get me wrong this mod is AMAZING!^^ (loved the anime) but isn't it very unlogical that a nation lead by 2 smart traders (yes I also think of Holo as a trader) has this kind of debuff?
@mergele
I am extremely happy that someone understands my madness, haha. I did indeed try to structure Holo so that things would change over time, and the staggered bonuses and penalties definitely play into that effect.
@erick
I, and many others, are holding out hope, but at this point S&W S3 will probably be out after HL3.
@..uh.. Sorry, that is way too many different languages for me to understand properly, haha.
@Eren Jeager
Please ensure that you have BNW installed and active. If you do, and have subscribed, Steam may have failed to download it properly. You can try to download via my alternate download link, and simply throw the civ5mod file into the MODS folder -- Civ5 will unpack it automatically.
Otherwise, clear your cache and try to let Steam try downloading again.
Thanks, and I do welcome ideas and suggestions.
However, to make sure they don't get lost here (it's a pain to search through these comments) it's best if you post them into my Suggestions thread in my discussion area above.
As always, my CivFanatics thread [forums.civfanatics.com] is also always a good place to put any sort of comments, in case you prefer that over the Steam discussions above.
If you ever play with her without any of those mods, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts on how she feels, but otherwise yeah, there's no way I can balance around mods, since I have no way of telling which ones people will be running.
Regarding your suggestion, I don't know if you mean a Wonder as in a World Wonder (I won't be including any of those) or a National Wonder. She will be getting a bunch of new National Wonders with the next update (her new HQ's) which will give a variety of bonuses (and penalties.)
Your ideas actually have already (mostly) been planned for different things.
When E&D support gets added, she will get a 'Harvest Festival' event, which will trigger a modified Golden Age. Effects to trade routes will be something with the new Customs House replacement you can preview here.
Just w8 your next update with event and desicion. Give the wolf right to domiante the world.
Some ideal:
- Add new wonder - Statue of Wolf Lord at Capital
+ Empire will immidately enter golden age in 5 turns.
+ Every trade route with major civ will grenerate +1 food and + product - Bonus up each era pass and end at Industrial Era (4 food - 4 product/turn). Can not stack with one city
+ Every trade route with CS will generate + 1 infulence + 1 science . Bonus up each era pass and end at Industrial Era (4 Influence - 4 science/turn). Can not stack with one city.
Condition:
- Must be Medieval Era
- Must built at least 5 Wheat Wolf building
- Must be Unlock Commerce tree
- Must be at least 5 trade route
- Cost 2 mag and 2000 gold
Apologies for the delay; It took some time to sort through all the information in that screenshot.
Unfortunately, after my investigation, I have to say that I can't really say anything about balance for you. Your game is too heavily modded, and it's throwing off my intended balance for Holo by a huge amount.
Reform and Rule on its own is basically doubling most of Holo's bonuses. As well, between your extra resources and all the extra World Wonders, as well as CSD active, there are far too many bonuses working together to help you mitigate Holo's penalties. I'd say this is the main reason why she feels so easy for you. In order to get that much Gold, you had to give something up, but all the other bonuses are giving you the stuff that you would normally lose.
I have a few ideas still, but I cannot really say anything besides Holo is most likely functioning as intended in your game -- it was simply balanced for Vanilla, and all your other mods have thrown its balance off.
Despite of being really hard at start up and early game, i end up just still dominate commerce and ez to deal with anyone i want. But in this game i want to focus on Science so i don't want to much warmongger. Sad thing i still behind some civ as tech.... but :D
This game is fine with me really, not like another game before. Balance is well since you force people just buy out things they want
