Lucas_WAZZAA, I am happy my report was useful!

@leh2012,cool to see your enthousiasm! Thank you for your info, some of it I already knew, some it is already implemented in the mod, and some of it differs for certain reasons.
But most importantly thank you for notifying about the classes not being implemented correctly, I had completely overlooked it and I seek to fix it in the next update!

That's what I managed to dig up on Soviet MSV Squad in 1980-s:

1x Squad Leader (oft Sergeant) - AK-74, PM (he was also commander of BMP. So there is a dilemma whether he leads from the front or commands BMP. It is for him to decide)
1x AT-Soldier - RPG-7, PM
1x AT-Soldier Assistant - AK-74
1x Machine Gunner - RPK or PK (In Ustav it was said that MG should carry RPK by default. At the same time, many considered RPK lacking in firepower for this role and preferred PK)
1x Senior Rifleman (Efreitor) - AK-74
3x Rifleman - AK-74
1x BMP Driver - PM
1x BMP Gunner - PM
In addition to that squad was supposed to have:
1x or 2x GP-25, 1x NW Scope, 1x Strela manpad, 2x AKS-U (?)

Also, take what I said here with a grain of salt. I never served in the military and I don't know much about the topic. I was curious because I wanted to build Soviet squad in ArmA in a way that is somehow realistic. I guess if you are really interested in historical accuracy, you would need dig quite a lot to get to the bottom of this.

On the other hand, there was an argument made that in reality those AKS-U were quite a rare weapon and while they were supposed to be in every BMP in fact they were more often than not absent thus meaning that AT-soldiers were far more likely to carry surplus AK-74. Furthermore, since Soviet army did not fight in any major conflict besides Afghanistan we are not sure how exactly things would have worked out in case of Cold War turning Hot. What you have in Ustav is a peace-time mode of operation and things tend to deviate when crap hits the fan. E.g., soldiers in Afghanistan quickly figured out that having Officer standing out from Private endangers him a lot and thus some rules of Ustav were disregarded so Officers could blend in better. I’ve heard, same happened with USA military in Vietnam.

Greetings, Lucas_WAZZAA! It is a nice mod you are cooking right now!
While checking it out I noticed that medic-rifleman lacks Medic trait and technician lacks engineer trait. That means they can’t use their special equipment.
Considering armament of Anti-Tank Grenadier. I am from Russia. I remember reading about Soviet MSR Squad in 1980-s trying to figure out same things. According to what I learned, in Ustav (Military Charter) AT-soldiers were not supposed to carry Kalashnikovs. They indeed were issued Makarov pistols (at least on paper). At the same time, in squad BMP there supposedly were AKS-U for crew self-defense. So, one could imagine, that in case of a real combat situation weapons could be exchanged and those soldiers who need to carry heavy stuff such as RPG-7 might actually take those lighter assault rifles to provide more firepower to their squad (or they could be provided with spare AK-s from depot).

Yes I will, in fact, I already have quite a few things done for a US Army faction. Along with that I also have lots of more factions in development.
n18m 17 Jun @ 12:25am
will you be making a mod like this but for the USA?
Lucas_WAZZAA  [author] 15 Jun @ 1:12am
@Delta-Gamma, I understand your complaint. Though the current VDV Paratroopers are based on their official, on-paper combat equipment, not what they actually wore in Afghanistan, those units will be added later on in their own subcatagory.
For years designations, these are indeed not fully accurate, though this is done to keep the mod in-style with GM, which also not has very accurate year designations (DK Men '90 have few early 2000s equipment for example).
Delta-Gamma 14 Jun @ 7:25pm
I'd recommend doing more research on Soviet Forces for your mod, man. Your year designations are really not accurate. VDV would most certainly not be wearing their Obr. 69s into combat in 1985.

Lucas_WAZZAA  [author] 12 Jun @ 3:43am
@Lee Rebecca, thank you for the info, I'll implement it asap
Lee Rebecca 12 Jun @ 3:16am
soviet armoured vehicles are numbered with 3 digit numbers, not 4. First digit is btn number, second one is company, third one is index number of squad in company from 1 to 9, 0 is a company commander vehicle
IonCer 12 Jun @ 2:21am
Finally, some soviet faction with the Gm Dlc, great job!

Стрелок-гранатометчик помимо РПГ-7 вооружался автоматом АКС-74 либо АКС-74У

the RPG Grenadiers not having a primary weapon is accurate afaik, they weren't equipped with one, atleast in exercises, to compromise I gave them a PM with three mags until they can get a different weapon. Though I must note, the way grenadiers were armed is not too clear, some sources do note that in case of war they'd be armed with AK rifles.

For vehicles I may not have noted ALL of the vehicles I'm planning to add, artillery like the 2P16, 2S1 and 2B11 mortar are planned, Shilka is also planned.
For crew members, I'm adding what I require to add on the spot, this is also why the current crewman aren't too accurate.
MadAc3 11 Jun @ 1:31pm
RPG7 Soldier has no primary weapon in EDEN Editor. Pls don´t forget about Pilots and Shilka as well as Artillery. Perhaps a 2P16 with Nuke??? Keep up the great work, Sir!
