I found this ship adrift in my lone survival game.

It's a beautiful design. Simple and elegant, Robust and easy to adapt to a number of uses as a platform.

Reminds me of the old Terran Federation ships.

I place a landing gear, projector and small reactor (I keep the components for those separate in one of the Duchessa's containers). See the screenshot above showing the drone projection. If you place the landing gear as shown the drone's connector will line up with the Duchessa connector.

Trying to adapt this to actually build drones, instead of being just for show. I'd have to build a small ship projector and connector poking out into the welding area I assume.

Since it's currenlty a large ship prjector seperated by a large ship block from the building area.

finished the Duchessa overhaul i promised you, although its more based off the original one.

that last line in the description is prompt for you to build an warship along your style, id love to see what you come up with (i lack creativity)

let me know what you think!

Go for it. I put this stuff up for people to use, after all.

im actually building a heavily modified, and modded version of your ship, and actually, can i have your permission to publish it with due credit ofc? im building it on the line of a ship captured by pirates and heavily modified for raiding
heavy armor hull actually moves fairly well btw.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 12 Dec, 2014 @ 5:36pm
Apart from the hangar, no. Doesn't seem to be any point, heavy armour is too, well, heavy.
Cain Bennu 12 Dec, 2014 @ 10:29am
hey ive got a quick question, have you built a version of the Duchessa with heavy armor?
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 12 Dec, 2014 @ 5:15am
I've submitted the Duchessa, as I don't feel this version is good enough.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 9 Dec, 2014 @ 4:50pm
Probably soon, I'm not happy with the way this version builds drones. Too much fiddling and manual welding is required, and half the cargo space has been lost.
aaronlukemarshall 9 Dec, 2014 @ 1:33pm
sweet Deal! when the next version out!
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 8 Dec, 2014 @ 3:01pm
I've updated all the drones so they should be buildable, please let me know if there are any further problems.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 7 Dec, 2014 @ 4:18pm
Seems to be a bug with projections that makes it impossible to weld a projected remote control or timer that has a block group in its toolbar.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 7 Dec, 2014 @ 3:36pm
Same thing just happened to me when I tested it. It worked before the most recent patch, though. Time to post a bug report.
Creaky the Pirate 7 Dec, 2014 @ 9:17am
Ok so I placed the small landing gear, projector and reactor as shown in the screenshots above. I have them lined up as just like in the screenshot. I exptend the welding arms and turn the welders on. At this point the game will either crash to the desktop instantly. Or some block will be built and once I start retracting the welding arms, the game will then crash. A error log file is generated, but I don't know what I am looking for in it. I am assuming that something on the drone's projections is clipping into something else, but I can't really tell.

I can send the log file if that will help.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 6 Dec, 2014 @ 8:14pm
The Duchessa's projector is for its construction and repair. To make the drones, place a small landing gear, projector and reactor as shown in the screenshots above.
Creaky the Pirate 6 Dec, 2014 @ 8:06pm
I am unable to use the projector to create the drone ships, like the DMV1 Marzena. I have downloaded the blue print for the ship of the workshop, but when I go to add the blueprint to the Duchessa project I recieve the error "Incorrect Grid Size Blueprint size must match that of the projector."

Not sure what I am messing.

Sweet. At any rate, I assume you'll soon be making a drone bay module for your modular hull?
High Ground 5 Dec, 2014 @ 1:22pm
Beautiful ship. Nice to see you keep making her better and better!
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 4 Dec, 2014 @ 5:51pm
In fact, if you walk off the front of the bow access, or the side platform, you'll drift straight out into space, without falling down at all.
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 4 Dec, 2014 @ 5:50pm
Even if you fall off, the gravity field stops at deck level, so your jetpack will cut in almost immediately.
Webmind 1 4 Dec, 2014 @ 5:29pm
Pity, currently a bit precarious-could have flat ones for cockpit access...
Stone Cold Jane Austen  [author] 4 Dec, 2014 @ 4:28pm
Those won't fit, and interfere with easy entry/exit.
Webmind 1 4 Dec, 2014 @ 3:25pm
Needs the two-sided catwalk blocks [www.spaceengineerswiki.com] down the drone access corridor...
