@scorp yeah I'm sure you should do it because this mod is practically perfect as of now
DaMagoo12 20 Jul @ 6:48pm
the npcs dont surrender no matter how many times i shout
Ramin Inuras 20 Jul @ 12:58pm
Would be neat if it worked on combine soldiers too
Scorp  [author] 20 Jul @ 12:22pm
@Bill I'll maybe look into it sometime in the future but no promises as I don't really know how any of those systems work lol
Bill 20 Jul @ 8:53am
would it be possible to make this awesome mod work with snpcs such as sentry's mafia snpcs
mac (2008) 19 Jul @ 12:45pm
@Kabosu you gotta understand that the engine this is being made in is 21 years old, and the version this was made in (gmod 13) is over 13 years old
Scorp  [author] 19 Jul @ 10:27am
@Kabosu blame the source engine not me lol
Kabosu 18 Jul @ 10:59pm
this mod is so ass its not even working
Ayeefan 16 Jul @ 3:37pm
you should make their hands go behind their back on cuff, also make it so that theres a chance they surrender on their knees.
mac (2008) 10 Jul @ 5:27pm
also im a young gmod dev too
Scorp  [author] 10 Jul @ 8:14am
@ChainsFR yes, this addon replaces the animations for the citizen NPCs, but other mods that replace animations will overwrite the ones from this one.
Also, no, you don't need to damage NPCs to make them surrender. It increases the chances of them surrendering and for hostile NPCs it'll reset the "I won't surrender" parameter, but for passive NPCs you can just shout until they surrender.
If you don't like the chances of civilians surrendering you can adjust it with sss_civilian_shout_chance
mac (2008) 9 Jul @ 7:04am
also you have to damage the npc to make them surrender, (basiclly, eli and kleiner wont work due to them being one shot)
mac (2008) 9 Jul @ 6:51am
Got it working, turns out most mods that change animation are bo schit (idiot box reference) on the beta versions.
wheatlyguy127 9 Jul @ 5:34am
Yeah I read too fast lol, but still, it's actually really fucking impressive tbh!
Scorp  [author] 9 Jul @ 4:53am
@wheatlyguy127 Well it's not my *first* addon, just my first one that adds custom behavior to NPCs, including animations. The other addons I made are more purely code as I am primarily a programmer.
Thank you either way though!
wheatlyguy127 9 Jul @ 2:27am
For a first mod. This is fucking amazing Scorp!

You have an amazing career/path soon. I'm going to follow you (as in steam account lmao) to keep up with your outstandingly fucking good addon.

I hope the best for you >:3
Scorp  [author] 6 Jul @ 8:07am
Also @Cogs yeah that's a nice idea.
I'm still thinking of adding different variables to the chances of NPCs to surrender and I will definitely add something like that.
I'll probably implement some systems from Ready Or Not, for example if you shoot an NPCs friend they won't surrender until you are dead or until they die and more stuff like that
Scorp  [author] 6 Jul @ 8:04am
@Ramin Inuras You cannot collide with or kill handcuffed NPCs to differentiate them from un-handcuffed NPCs (which can get up and go back into combat)
Ramin Inuras 5 Jul @ 4:05pm
There should be an option to make handcuffed NPCs damageable too, I end up accidentally handcuffing them and now cannot enjoy committing war crimes on them
Cogs 5 Jul @ 1:29pm
A basic karma sim might be nice: I.e if you have killed several NPCs recently, or shot a surrendering NPC other NPCs would be far less likely to surrender.
Scorp  [author] 5 Jul @ 12:30pm
@капля поноса If I ever find more voice assets I'll add them, thanks for the suggestion
капля поноса 5 Jul @ 10:52am
ok, so this is very cool. always wanted something like this, but dynamic surrendering system wasnt really it, the chances there didnt work for some reason and the dudes were always surrendering, which i didnt like. however this addon is just what i needed, especially just right after completing RoN's main campaign. I would like to suggest a convar that would allow to change between different voices or smth like that.
Scorp  [author] 5 Jul @ 6:55am
no u
scorb 4 Jul @ 5:37pm
@Scorp This is lies.
stoneykampfwagen 4 Jul @ 5:05pm
Oh well, thanks for trying to fix it.
Scorp  [author] 4 Jul @ 4:40pm
@stoneykampfwagen Ack, well, no... As @Limakenori has mentioned this is some weird issue with Garry's Mod. Personally I've never encountered most of the issues people talk about (inside of singleplayer of course, I am perfectly aware of the multiplayer issues) so neither can I test to see what's the issue or fix it.
Again, I'll just be hoping switching animation methods by manually animating transitions will help.
Scorp  [author] 4 Jul @ 4:37pm
@scorb hey you're the one who stole my username and flipped a letter
stoneykampfwagen 4 Jul @ 4:35pm
Update: The animations managed to get going, but it only worked for females, is this accurate and predicted?
stoneykampfwagen 4 Jul @ 4:05pm
Thanks alot, your work is the best, seriously.
scorb 4 Jul @ 3:45pm
im gonna bash your head in with a rock for stealing my name
Scorp  [author] 4 Jul @ 2:15pm
@stoneykampfwagen The difference is that Dynamic Surrendering System is based off of Entropy Zero and my system is based off of Ready Or Not.
The answer to your question is something you should find yourself by trying out, it's pretty much just preference :steammocking:

And also the animations for surrendering do work, they're just iffy. Try things like restarting Garry's Mod, reinstalling the addon, making sure you're running on a singleplayer world and if all else fails then verifying your file integrity.
If none of that worked then it's unfortunate. If you like the idea of the addon I advise just waiting for the end of the month for when I get the proper animations to fix all the animation-related issues. Else you can just use other surrendering system addons.
stoneykampfwagen 4 Jul @ 1:46pm
Oh, and by the way, Animations for surrender dont work, even with all addons (excluding this) so please fix it! i know its a buggy mod but still
Meta Bluejay 4 Jul @ 1:30pm
RP Server owners be like "Write this down!"
stoneykampfwagen 4 Jul @ 1:00pm
One question, why should i use this instead of the Original Dynamic Surrendering system
Electrovi2 4 Jul @ 12:54pm
well now i can finally play the true bad guy in this game by murdering surrendered npcs, thank you @Scorp
Scorp  [author] 4 Jul @ 9:41am
@Limakenori Bro if you find a way to fix it please do notify me lol. Monkey together stronk.
At the moment I'm waiting to get my paycheck so I could commission an animator to make me custom animations that manually blend between states but if you figure out some way I could use the current animations I'll opt for that.
After all I'd be spending above 50 euros for an addon that's free.
bob 4 Jul @ 6:01am
im not just a gas can,im a gas can filled with literally just BEANS
Skittles 4 Jul @ 4:44am
everytime the npcs turn around to look at me after they have surrendered they like go on a 45 degree angle then back to the surrendering pose
Limakenori 4 Jul @ 1:55am
I see that you encounter the same issues I have
For some reason animations sometimes don't replace rebel anims for some people as if something conflicts, sometimes even when player doesn't have any animation replacements and unfortunately I don't think that you can really do much about it.
It often happens to either male rebels or female rebels, rarely both.

By the way, nice job, I really like how organized the code looks.
Kawer 4 Jul @ 1:01am
Idk, ignite them
Scorp  [author] 3 Jul @ 11:24pm
Why are there speaking gas cans
Gasoline Drinker 3 Jul @ 11:08am
@literally BEANS nice profile picture.
bob 3 Jul @ 7:39am
nice mod you got there
Kawer 3 Jul @ 6:01am
I mean, addon works almost perfectly, all hostile rebels are surrender after recieving damage
Scorp  [author] 3 Jul @ 4:02am
@Kawer @TheDesertRoad @matheussampaio150119 Note that many addons that alter AI behavior can break this addon and as I said in the description it'll take a bit before I figure out how to fix it. Unfortunately until then you'll have to deal with the addon being like this :p
Scorp  [author] 3 Jul @ 4:00am
@SourceStick Not sure, getting the NPC limb that was shot probably wouldn't be too easy, but I'm still working on adding many ways to get NPCs to surrender so I may consider it
Also I'm not so sure about its effectiveness since cops are trained to shoot the middle of the body as it's the easiest to hit and also the legs have a ton of arteries that makes it very easy for shots to the legs to be lethal lol (though this is a video game so I guess it doesn't matter)
SourceStick 3 Jul @ 2:32am
This made me think, it would be interesting to be able to detain people by shooting their legs, like the Finnish police do :P

For anyone curious about its effectiveness, look up "2017 Turku attack".
Kawer 3 Jul @ 12:43am
For some reasons male animation is not playing meanwhile female having custom animation and still works fine
TheDesertRoad 2 Jul @ 10:20pm
when they try to surrender they enter into a animation loop and start punching the player when he goes near
matheussampaio150119 2 Jul @ 6:51pm
feke
