I was sold the instant I saw Imperium of Man written in the picture.

@RutraNickers which style do you mean? If you mean the Dynasty-styled names, those pull from the default Imperial last name source (RimWorld\Data\Core\Languages\English\Strings\Names\Imperial_Last.txt).

Using your example, if you wanted to make an Egyptian-styled empire run and didn't want Greek/Byzantine last names like those showing up in possible empire names, but aren't confident about making a full personal mod yourself, you could edit that file to switch it to a list of ancient Egyptian names. It'll then make my mod pull empire Dynasty-style names from your custom list when your world is generated, and as an added bonus the Empire NPCs in your world will also have Egyptian surnames.

You'd want to keep a copy of your edited version elsewhere, though, as the file can be reverted back to default when Rimworld's file integrity is tested or possibly when Rimworld does fix-patches. That way, you can simply overwrite it with your custom version whenever it gets reverted.

great idea! considering i've got an empire-themed naked brutality playthrough on the way, this is gonna go great with *beating the game with nothing* :er_heart:

Hey mate, dunno if it's possible, but could you add a slight change to the naming convention if a certain Style is being used? I've seen in the images that you have some greek god's names in there, but that would not make sense if I forced the empire to use a different style that isn't Sophian (like, say, I wanted an Egyptian-themed Empire using Alpha Memes)

Finally! I was wanting a mod like this since Royalty came out. The Empire’s names were stupid. Thanks a lot!

I like the reasoning behind this.
Good mod!

You may be a horrible goose, but you've made a good mod. +1

The Empire are not humble or good Christians in the slightest.
They practice sl-av-ery. They worship the Archotects, the hyper-computers that create all of the really advanced and funky stuff in the Rimworld universe.
They are an authoritarian surveillance police-state with what amounts to a caste system.
So it makes sense that they would be right arrogant pricks, especially the nobility.

Thank you for making this mod

@powerneed My thoughts are that once leaving Earth, which only has one sun and one moon, "sun" and "moon" would become too generic to be used as proper names without additional context. They'd use the specific names of the star or moon in question.

A people that flew off to the star system of our North star to found a new republic wouldn't call themselves "The Republic of the Sun," they'd call themselves "the Republic of Polaris."

The same would go for a knightly order based on one of Mars's moons. They'd be the "Order of Phobos, Knights of Mars, Beaters of Ass," not simply "the Knights of the Moon."

great mod but i would argue that sun and moon aren't really earth centric any planet can have a moon and basically every planet will have a sun and empire of the moon could mean that the main base is on the moon otherwise 100% agree on the changes

Always support new name mods, always support new culture mods, they're so rare.

I personally like the humility of admitting one is shattered but still standing, but I can respect a good Mod when I see it.
