The reason the spartans dont use sandals was due to them not using sandals, not sure when they started using them if they did but it was for better grip i believe it wasnt just CA being lazy and deciding to remove their sandals for no reason.

i see your mod secretly also adds long hair and a little more facial hair to the spartan units. is there anyway to differentiate them and maybe just keep the facial hair because the long hair clipping is quite annoying.

In accordance with the philosophy of Laconics, the Lacedaemonians believed the less noise one made, in speech or otherwise, the more masculine and virtuous it made them. This is why the Spartans wore no footwear, so as to diminish the sound generated by footfalls.

shoeless should only be for the units in PEL not sure why they are puit into grand campign and then taking their hair out too is strange . CA was lost with dealing with sparta.
MDavid 31 Mar, 2017 @ 1:23pm
Hello! May I include this into the Grand Reskin mod I'm working on?

Chill Vi6es 12 Mar, 2016 @ 2:09pm

Nagash 7 Feb, 2016 @ 3:52pm
I just like how they Don't give us the Wrath Skins for the greeks (or at least Sparta) for Custom battle or Grand Camp but they go through the trouble of removing footwear....i swear, developers sometimes

HendonSwift 10 Sep, 2015 @ 2:25am
nice one thanks, and wtf CA?
Mitso 12 Aug, 2015 @ 5:55pm
you should also look into fixing the shoe problem for WOS. Plzzz!!!
Kr|§t|an 4 Aug, 2015 @ 5:54pm
I agree with Mitso, if you could fix CA's shit concerning hair clipping through helmet, that would be really appreciated!
Great mod btw!

hahahaha cool mod

Man i love you for that ! ;)
Mitso 6 Apr, 2015 @ 5:43pm
great mod DMDR!!.
since you have experience modding the base spartan skin, may i suggest you look into modding the hairstyle?
Another really annoying aspect of the spartan skin (for grand campaign) is that the the hair goes right thru the back of there helmets. this is especially true for the "Heroes of sparta" units and really just grind my gears almost as much as their removal of the sandals. can you plz look into it and fix CA's crap?
BlueGB I 24 Mar, 2015 @ 2:20pm
Finally they got smthing to worn!

Dont know if someone else posted this or not, but Im glad they removed them, spartans never wore sandals to war. They were considered for pansies lol

yep - it works, thank you. I was concerned that all my sparta units were barefoot - but after trying your mod in custom battle, I can confirm it works, as I do not wish to have all my sparta units barefoot - it's ok for WOS DLC to have no sandals but not for Grand Campaign.

So this mod has fixed it for me so far - fingers crossed that this mod works in all battles and Campaign battles - other than that - THANK YOU DMDR - awesome mod so far!!!
GamingSloth 12 Jan, 2015 @ 4:04pm
Thanx for the mod - i'll try it now and report back when i have enough of campaign

The only reasonable way is that someone should attach old sandaled legs to all new rigidmodels introduced in WoS. Alternatively, transplant WoS-head to old skins and make it as a new model.
Otherwise, its either no shoes or ears clipping through helmet.

I, unfortunately, don't have 3d modeling tools and skills to do that.

Mate i have been hearing this a lot and it concerns me how quickly people just accept something without proof. I would LOVE to see the primary sources your have for this. As a Classical History major specialising in Roman and Greek military, I have not once come across this at all. Ive seen ONE journal article written by a nobody in the mid 70's. also if you use pottery as a reference there is something people should know, it is idealised art of the time, not factual and often made by artisians in Athens whose only knowledge of Sparta is from loose stories and myths.
iNsaneMilesy 8 Jan, 2015 @ 3:23pm
Glad to see this fixed. Its complete BS that they didnt wear boots/sandals historically. The most important thing for a soldier to have is good footwear, you cant fight when you sliced your foot open... As for the Muscled Cuirass, its actually historically accurate for the mid hellenic period, for a brief time the Spartans dropped it when trying to adapt to a swifter form of warfare while fighting the Thebans, but later realised under Cleomenes III military reforms how bloody important it was. ALL Spartans hoplites wore it along with other plated parts, the Perioikoi (main body of the army didnt)..
