I spent the first 2 hours LOVING this map, it's really well made and interesting with well placed items and tons to do. By the third hour, things got more difficult and less enjoyable. Trying to manage items in the water, creating new messes upon leaving, getting items down from pipes and moving items across the water to the back of the map, tons of body parts from the bucket machine and other irritations started to mount in the late game. The super glitchy stairs added to this, none of them worked by the end of the level. I also ended up with tons of messes outside of the map, had to ghost for 30 minutes to find them and then had to use killnearest to remove as were invisible! Biggest problem though was the 2-3 hour length note... It is not... Not even close. Maybe 4 if playing solo. I did 4.20 but 30 minutes was flying so could have easily ended up at 5. I would NEVER have attempted this solo if I realised the length and that misconception meant it was more work than fun by the end.

@CarThief oh yeah I getcha, I just figured I'd make sure you where aware, I've been trying to dig into making some maps of my own but I'm struggling to even get started, haha. keep up the good work!
CarThief  [author] 16 Jan, 2021 @ 3:20pm
Ah, it was litterally my first map, so i guess i missed that technical tidbit. Welp, that's another thing to do one of these days if i ever stop being lazy about updating the maps. (It's such a chore to update the workshop files though, hm...)
Snowy Hans 16 Jan, 2021 @ 1:38pm
Love the map, but looking around in the editor I noticed that the crate stacking areas are only set up to accept one type of crate, it would be nice if this could be fixed so the crate zones could be fully utilized. :vcdbin:

Excellent map! Seems easy on a first glance, but in reality is a very demanding map. I think i spilled the bloody bucket at least 10 times here. What makes it difficult are the narrow cramped with garbage walkways, as well as dirt water areas that hide a lot of viscera too and require floor re-cleaning after getting out each time. Have screenshots. Used 3 pairs of teleporters. The only issue is the stairs from water, they are annoyingly jammy. Great job! :vcdbin:

Wow! This map was crazy! Looked amazing and walking around in the water picking up stuff was really fun. The sounds were hilarious if you tried to speed walk and came flying off of the stairs to the ground again. I'm experienced in this game and it still took me a solid 4+ hours, but I am a bit obsessive about stacking and burning a lot :steamhappy: Really cool atmosphere but definitely challenging with so many nooks and crannies and small items hiding behind crates, barrels and blending in with everything. I took some screen shots to show some of the rooms before and after cleaning just for fun, more on my profile.

Probably the best workshop map so far.

I've added your map to the Best of the Best collection, congrats!

Loved this map! Taking grunge to a high-art form, and your use of many ground levels is quite theatric. No idea if you can add your own sounds in, but more drip echoes would be the icing on the cake. That and a better soundtrack than the developers allow (I usually listen to Pink Floyd when in VCD). I think you are becoming my quality seal author. :)

can you make a tutorial for map making with the sewer theme?
A JANITOR 13 Oct, 2015 @ 7:47pm
pids would make sewer job that bit more fun if leave pid name blank it randomly generates a name?
photogirl1211 11 Oct, 2015 @ 1:28pm
Sorry to comment 2 times but I forgot to mention I LOVE the fact that you put multiple stacking zones..that made it very much more enjoyable and is actually the reason I will play it again =D
photogirl1211 11 Oct, 2015 @ 1:27pm
Just finished last night and very much enjoyed the map. I felt the size was perfect, along with the amount of trash etc. Absolutely smooth running, no lag or bugs at all. Like others have said finding trash in the water was a bit complicated but I enjoyed the uniqueness..although I didn't find the j-harm until the end (my luck lol) so..I used crates for getting body parts over the water.. and had minor issues with the body above the water over the metal grate thing.. but that wasn't at all your fault =) Looking forward to playing again soon nice work and thanks!
A JANITOR 26 Sep, 2015 @ 3:16am
yep jus make sure physics on dynamic trigger volume is set to interpolating and blue spark thing for matinee to move the trigger with the blue thing:)
CarThief  [author] 26 Sep, 2015 @ 2:16am
Hm, well that does seem awfully similar to what i tried, assuming the manitee is basically a light or blue scanning wall thing that moves around an atached volume. Though i may have ticked an output box slightly differently, one way or another.

But if it's that simple... Quite handy to know, then, could always be useful another time.
CarThief  [author] 21 Sep, 2015 @ 7:40am
Hm, well i guess a name generator could come in handy, though i'm a tad too lazy (and busy with other maps/games) to apply PIDs or redo the corpses entirely, right now. But i guess i'll put it on the todo list.

Wonder if there's even remotely any interest in a map solely designed so the player can take items from it and furnish their office, without having to clean up (not including things that are used for achievements). Since that's what i'm almost done with working on, as a little side-project to kill the time. (Which is also what i wanted kill-on-sight sentries for, but eh, i'll make do with just cameras instead.)
A JANITOR 21 Sep, 2015 @ 7:02am
Can disable front and rear of incinerator/ bin n bucket machines in actor properties if half a machine is inside a wall etc:vcdmop:
RC8015 21 Sep, 2015 @ 1:48am
@CarThief: for the victim names try using a random name generator like ( behindthename.com/random ), that makes making up characters a lot easier.
For death circumstances, just imagine a certain scenario that happenened on the map and adapt it to the position the bodies are lying in. For example, a pile of bodies lying in a corridor may have been shredded by machine gun fire of a 'Phoenix' turret. A large pool of blood with a dismembered body missing arms or legs may have been ripped apart and partially eaten by alien or an animal.
if you need help imagining scenarios, contact me, I may be able to make up some on my own^^
Nice map btw, I'm still taking my time wandering around the map :D
CarThief  [author] 21 Sep, 2015 @ 12:17am
Hm, suppose i could always give it a quick youtube search.Wouldn't know entirely how one disables an incinerator door though, never had to do that before, guess i can find a option for that (or replace it with static mesh, who knows, however that works).

No guarantee on PIDs, though. I'm utterly TERRIBLE at thinking up names. It would also be fairly hard to set up the death circumstances for those without redoing all the corpses, i'd imagine.
A JANITOR 20 Sep, 2015 @ 5:23pm
hi CarTheif:)
if want wires in map therse a spline actor tutorial on youtube:)
idea for sewer job=pids and disable the rear door on the incinerator as one can open it:)
sewer job a nice map for multiplayer took me and a freind to a few days on n off to clean/about 4 to 5 hours with 2 players as was fun messy place to clean:steamhappy:
CarThief  [author] 31 May, 2015 @ 1:54am
Hm, right, i think i found the right option for that, and assuming i got that thing right, the maps should be updated with that soon enough (as well as the other stuff, like Radio, Brooms, and re-sized description). Maybe even PID's if i can be bothered about the bodies/names.

I guess unchecking "Accepts Static Decals" and "Accepts Dynamic Decals" should do the trick, both being found under Actor Properties, weirdly enough showing up twice (both in Collision and in Static Mesh Actor).

someone should do No Mercy from L4D as a map the part where you hold out while waiting for the elevator would work best LOL

This is going to take ages to do, which is the point of playing the game. So I'm going to stay subscribed. Hello XD

CarThief  [author] 28 Feb, 2015 @ 11:15am
Hm, well that looks odd, i'm guessing the bullet holes might randomize themselves or something on level start because i dont remember placing them like THAT. :P

I did place one below the medkit though, i recall. Guess i should take a second look at that sometime.
Nada Afterwards 28 Feb, 2015 @ 11:12am
Nevermind I see what the problem is: The bullet hole is actually below the medkit and it shows on the other side of the pilar as well. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=400467588 https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=400467627
CarThief  [author] 28 Feb, 2015 @ 10:55am
Hm, well could always remove some trash possibily from the water if i'm not feeling as lazy to update the map with brooms and whatnot. :P

As for bullet holes, during playtesting it worked fine for me, got all of em, perhaps you need to try from different angles? They can be troublesome about it sometimes. If they dont light up then somehow they're not being hit.

Though if all else fails using the cheat 'killnearestmess' in the console removes the nearest junk/mess, handy if things do get truly stuck/unreachable.
I'm afraid there simply wasnt any space for the barrel stacking zones elsewhere though, as far as i remember.
Nada Afterwards 28 Feb, 2015 @ 10:38am
It was great and grueling, I wish the barrel stacking areas wouldn't be in the way.
I found a bullet hole in the vending machine room that doesn't seem to work, it's on the base of the pilar and it's barely visible.
Lars Luron 27 Feb, 2015 @ 3:06pm
This map was pretty good for your first try. Despite being in a similar setting it definitely had a much different feel from the cramped tubes of Waste Disposal. My only real problem with it was all the little bits of trash hidden under the water- it took forever to find them all. Other than that it was fairly well put together.
Moros 30 Jan, 2015 @ 2:39pm
Finally got around to playing it today, and I have to say, this map is complete trash!* (If you know what I mean)
*Sarcasm (I actually like the map, was just making a bad joke)

Just spent an hour and a half cleaning, cleaned the office, the bin area and the exit tunnel, gonna work on the rest later. Bit of a walking time, and lanterns are a must, but I liked having some littered (Another bad pun, sorry!) around the map. Still haven't explored the whole map, due to my minor OCD of not wanting to track blood everywhere, Still, love it. The machines can be annoying, but other than that, good level design.
Leabut 24 Jan, 2015 @ 5:23pm
Great Map. Little bit dark and the water sucks to find all the items in it ;D.
But no performance laggs or something like this. Working also great in Multiplayer.
Took about 4 hours to cleanup ô_O
Kaotikah 20 Jan, 2015 @ 9:38pm
WOW! I would still give it a shot!
CarThief  [author] 20 Jan, 2015 @ 3:31pm
Hm, well i'm almost done with another, but its so large it may end up with technical issues. I'm told the huge item count (1518 splatters and 1778 objects) could interfere with multiplayer by desynching it.

It also happens to be a huge map which takes over 5 hours to clean by yourself, so its more suited as a multiplayer map, probably. Hm, hope it works out though...
Kaotikah 19 Jan, 2015 @ 9:37pm
Ok, when are you releasing another? lol This map was amazing and I cannot wait to play more of your maps!
Duegon 18 Jan, 2015 @ 11:52am
This map is awesome! Good job! Spent entire evening cleaning this beauty!
KowaiCandy 16 Jan, 2015 @ 6:05am
This map is a beast! It'll help you get those achievements you've been working so hard to get! Loved the challenge and will defintely clean again! :vcdsign:
Skele-Kitty 10 Jan, 2015 @ 9:43pm
Man, I can't wait.
This map looks amazing. In the middle of cleaning right now.
Now, I just want a map with the size of this and the complexity.
But without the shitty floor and wall textures. I fucking hate them, because it's so hard to tell where the 'vauge' stains are, causing you to track footprints fucking. Everywhere.
Jesse 10 Jan, 2015 @ 10:14am
Took me a long time to clean it up but I loved it. Thanks for an epic map !
CarThief  [author] 9 Jan, 2015 @ 11:58pm
What works for me is subscribe to all the maps you want, and open the game with Workshop disabled (so if it's on, disable it and restart), and then enable the Workshop (by pressing the Workshop icon on the left), and give it some time to download the maps, once all the maps are downloaded restart the game (i guess Workshop can stay on for that), and after a moment they pop up in the map list, as it needs a restart to install them.

And then they should be fully playable. If you want to disable showing custom maps just turn off the Workshop.
Hovering over the Workshop icon will tell wether it is busy doing something or when stuff is ready to go. Some maps might take a few minutes depending on their size and your internet speed.
Chunddle von Zithrop Jr. III 9 Jan, 2015 @ 4:49pm
So...Um. How do I play the map. Press subscribe and thennn....
Bernard the Wizard 8 Jan, 2015 @ 2:27pm
That was bloody brilliant (pardon the pun)! Nice high-quality map, large but layed out very well with each area having its own little challenges. Lovely lighting and design throughout. Ideal for meandering through while listening to some podcasts or something :). Only issues were with the water, as said above, and I guess thats more on the developers than the map maker. 10/10 would clean again.
KAZOOIE 911 8 Jan, 2015 @ 12:45pm
Now this is a Epic map
