I wonder if Brain Drain should also be tied to things like Patriotism and Egalitarianism or be countered by some other quality-of-life matters. In its simplest form it's obviously supposed to be about potential high-earners moving to places where they can technically earn more, and some certainly do let comparative paychecks determine everything about where they live, but I think most people considering emigrating to a new country take a lot of other things into account too. Making more money in gross may not be worth it if you then have to spend it all on maintaining a security-equipped air-filtered personal bubble-home to survive inside while praying you never need a doctor.

Update on the way, removed effect of luddite riots and working on changing the interaction between middle and high earnings so that high earnings can only be raised by middle earnings, not lowered.

The delay was probably just because it was the first time the game had to show the effects and it needed a minute to think. As far as the crashes, you should try this mod+policies pack and then this mod+industrial evolution. I suspect it's just the industrial evolution mod having conflicts with this mod. If that's the case I'll have a look at it and try to see if there's a relatively simple fix.

It crashes and before it did there was a strange 1-2 second lag when I hovered over a policy before it showed me the usual effect stream -for lack of a beter word. You know what policies affect others that basic visual info.

Your ideas sound great and I agree the econ part of the game is too simple and uses GDP as some sort of magic bullet. Will check out teh modding tools thanks.

As far as your suggestions, I've considered either making my mods compatible with one of the existing mods that adds things like inflation and purchasing power but it depends on how difficult/messy it would be. I might make my own versions of those sorts of things at some point because I think the economy in this game is way too simple and focuses too much on GDP. I'm considering working on something for banking, stocks, mortgages, and derivatives trading but it's just an idea at this point. Mining sounds interesting, it would be a good place to start on introducing lobbies--another aspect that is sorely lacking from this game.

Keep in mind this is just something I do for fun on occasion. I like to tinker and build things and usually when I make mods it's because the game has become too predictable. If you like this game I recommend learning how to mod it yourself, it's incredibly easy as long as you understand very basic algebra.

Did it crash when you tried to start a new game? Or was it showing the "please wait" loading bar at the main menu? If it's the latter, just tap escape and it should work. If it's crashing when you start a new game then I'd have to look at where they're conflicting and do some trimming, like taking out redundant effects etc. If it's something other than that then honestly I don't think there's anything I could do, or the authors of the other mods. You'd have better luck asking cliffski what's going on. There's no reason that installing mods should break the game, you should be able to just disable them in the mods menu.

....Finally there should be a value for domestic and demand driven by low, middle and high earning plus global economy, purchasing power, inflation/currency strenght, income taxes and such. Demand have a large effect on GDP, investment and a moderate effect on unemployment.

I know this is a lot and it's complicated but I've been looking for a mod like this and I at least wantedto maybe give you some ideas. Whatever you do I'm sure it'll be great thanks.

Yeah i actually got some major mod compatability problems. So much that I had to delete them all and re-install the game. I'll be adding them again and I promise to tell you if something goes awry.

Got more suggestions also: what about a few more positive and negative effects like "natural resource boom" that is triggered by a few event and an expensive policy to look for mining/drilling oppertunities -the environment takes a hit and environmentalists are unhappy.

Foreign trade should have a much larger impact on GDP and unemployment -trade is one of the most importtant parts of a nations economy. Inflation should also have a much larger effect and needs to be kept in balance.

There should be a new value that effects all things economic: investments that rises with GDP, productivity and a trade surplus. Investment is lowered by trade defecit, low GDP, low inflation, corporate tax and there should also be a policy for public investment to use in times of low GDP....

In the next update I plan to make brain drain affected by the global economy: when it is low it will lower brain drain. This way you won't be as penalized for having a low GDP if the global economy is just as terrible (because there's nowhere better to emigrate to). As far as bonds and such go, that's a little complex so if I added things like that they'd likely be in their own mod (that would be compatible with this one of course). For compatibility issues with other mods I'd need to know more about whats going wrong. Link me some screenshots, either comment here or add and msg me. You can hit f12 in-game to take screenshots and when you close the game steam will ask you if you want to upload them, select all and hit upload.

Awesome Ihave been waiting for a more realistic economy system. Please update this and add more economic policies like quantative easing, buying/selling government bonds and such. Also please make it compatible with the policies pack mod and the industrial evolution mod.
