Julius Ceasar created the old english mastiff as an animal so strong it could kill wolves, that threatened the camps at night when mist and cloud made visibility nil.
Credited as the first domestic breed and the genetic ancestor of all big dog breeds.
All dogs are basically an offshoot of the pedigree of the mastiff.
The italian mastiff, the neapolitan.
the french mastiff, the dogue de bordeaux
the spanish mastiff, the pyranean mountain dog
link [books.google.com] It claims Roman war dogs were equipped with chainmail, and blankets with pots of greek fire.
As far as implementing either of these, that would fall outside the range of my capability.
Even though it is probably safe to assume that most regions of the world during the time of antiquity had some form of war dog, I am trying to limit myself to only implementing dogs based on historic sources I can find online. :)
If I can find a source that talks about Thracians using war dogs I would be more than happy to add them to this mod!
Iceni already has dogs which are a part of the official Beast of War DLC pack. :)
@"can you add dogs for other successor kingdom , such as seleucid egypt baktria ?"
Egypt is already included. :) Yes I probably will add war dogs for seleucid and baktria after I do a little more research online.
@"Thank you for this great mod! ;D"
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! :)
