Unknown, oh cool, I've wanted an option to stop the saplings and just get the flowers for ages. :) If this stays, I'd resubscribe.

this its the best mod i could ever found it whil be usefull with another mod that add a caracter that get 20 sanity when he pick uq a evil flower

whenever i try to chop a tree made by this mod i get the error here: https://pastebin.com/upjASvkF its only the trees from this mod, any other trees chop fine, and the flowers made from this mod work fine, its just the pine trees

Can you add a configuration option for "Lumpy Evergreens" only also? It seems a bit more balanced that the trees that spawn around it cant drop pinecones. Its also more lore friendly (dead trees)!

To Author and server owners:

You can fix this by opening the mods modmain.lua.
Go to line 56 and replace it with
local tree = GLOBAL.SpawnPrefab("pinecone_sapling")
Then go to line 58 and replace it with
tree.Transform:SetPosition(pos.x, pos.y, pos.z)

Done, should be working, at least works for me.

Klei has had a number of changes in the game via the updates and now when crafting and placing the Totally Normal Tree it crashes the server. Here is the error log: http://pastebin.com/UAymiX6y

@seronis: Oh, well I totally missed that! I ended up writing my own spawning algorithm which inside uses some spawning mechanism somewhere in the game utils files.

Its what lureplants use to spawn the eyeballs around them. It can automate spawn locations and numbers with just a few variables being set. That way you dont need to worry about the math for placement. Its written to be very specific to the eyeballs but isnt hard to modify for other purposes.

Oh nice to see another one of these. I used to have my own version of this one once (for single player). Do you use the minion component for yours ? Either way thumbs up and might check it out later

Ah I misread. If you need tons of evil flowers though, making a farm using a Totally Normal Tree from this mod is totally doable: Plant one, wait until you get 6+ evil flowers, chop all trees around (including Totally Normal Tree), release 4+ bees, wait until they pollinate the flowers.

I'm talking about spawning evil flower only though, because the trees usually end up taking all the avaliable space, so no evil flower can spawn unless I take time to chop chop; while ruins I can just lure every shadow monster around until nightmare cycle ends and boom lots of fuel.

Despite that, I have indeed seen mods that were uploaded solely because some group needed a "tweaked" version of another mod for server-hosting purposes or playing with friends, but the original author is not able to provide such tweaking mechanism.

In that case though, it's usually marked something like "please disregard this mod".

I do agree that it's possible that someone learning could be uploading copies of other mods while modifying it. Except looking at the person's mod list, it appears to have a copy of another mod "Craftable Krampus Sac", named something like "NEW Version", in which his own comments were "pls press button like". This behavior doesn't seem benign.

I just downloaded the mod. It seems to be an exact copy, removed the images (I include my preview images in the mod folder, which were ~3.74MB), changed the name & version.

All other assets remained exactly the same, including modmain & prefabs.

Yes, I saw it seems to be exact copy, going by the screenshots, except renaming would not excuse file size difference from your 3.770 MB to their 0.027 MB

Maybe the screenshots is all there is.

If it needs more than 1 report to have it taken down, I'll of course join. I just think an accident while learning is the most likely explanation.

I see you added another comment while I was typing. With that stuff gone, maybe they deleted it to NOT steal it. :)

Hmm that's weird. I think the copy stripped away the assets (images, textures, etc) that I created (edited from Klei's originals), so that mod will have some things not working right.

@Mickmane: File size has to be different, since they'd at least change the mod name and author name. Given that even the images are copied directly, I doubt it's an accident trying to learn, as this kind of behavior has been observed a few times on workshop.

I would also love if there's a good way to privately upload mods for testing with others & dedicated servers. You could set the "Visibility" option once it's uploaded, but I haven't tried how well it works.

File size doesn't match, though. Maybe it's just an accident in trying to learn how to do mods?

Is there a way to privately upload a mod (to test how that works)?

Just curious. :)

(I'm working on my own mod, slowly, and would like a way to upload it friends-only when it's ready, so they can test it before the masses get to see it. Would be easier than a non-Steam up/download.)

That's the way to do it, I think. Using this mod, though, you could spawn evil flowers closer to base and reproduce them using bees once you have at least 6. Besides, there's no limit on how many Totally Normal Trees you can get (provided you chop enough trees to spawn Tree Guards, kill them, use the living logs to make more Totally normal trees, rinse & repeat)

About spawning more Totally Normal Trees, I think that would be a little bothersome for some players since it would technically mean Totally Normal Trees will be able to claim the entire map, or spread uncontrollably given enough time. (Also since some of them are generated at the beginning, you will get a lot of them eventually)

I read about evil flowers spawned by bees on the wiki, but don't quite get how to do it. I capture bees with a bugnet and free them near flowers I want spread?

That could be a spot a long way from home.

More Totally Normal Trees would be fun to have around too. :)

@Mickmane: Hmm that's interesting. The original idea was to use the Totally normal tree to plant forests for you so you can be lazy. Trees don't spread by themselves and you have to remember to replant them. Evil flowers can be spread using bees very quickly, given you have an area with at least 6 of them.

An idea, if you don't mind:

I'd prefer to have plain trees and Evil Flowers reversed. Or skip the usual trees and just a small chance to spawn another Totally Normal Tree, and a bigger chance to spawn Evil Flowers around.

(The usual trees are rather easy to plant, after all.)

Updated! Now it will regenerate evil flowers at a slower rate. This is optional and can be disabled via configuration.

evil flowers are awesome and i always run out of them, so you could probably add a configuration mod to determine the probability of the things the tree spawns around itself
