dud's Highway Intersection to Grid (Full)

All the freeway traffic crams into a single lane (all traffic routes) when going past. This is all through traffic yet all routes collapse down to a single lane which causes *massive* traffic jams.

The problem is that traffic (enter from highway) joins exit traffic at intersections. You should look for reddit post by Mitchells00 (something like that) and look for a way to split your inbound traffic and outbound so they do not join. Once traffic gets onto this grid, it does disperse well enough, but the actual intersections where they get off highway is totally clogged at all times.

This is on any city pop 60k+ and I am sure anyone who would use this doesn't plan on staying beneath 20k population to minimize the mess. Utility Vehicles also have a hard time here.

I solved the traffic problem that works for me.
I saw that the first 1-3 intersection stops the whole entering traffic (as it was in a screenshot down in one of the previous comment). The cars are not using the inner 3-4 lanes to bypass. Every car using the 2 outermost lanes even if they are going to the end of the region. So I bypassed these intersections:
I replaced the 2 6-lane incoming road with 3 simple one way road. The middle one-way road has the first intersection about at the middle of the area. It let the traffic flows directly into the middle of the area without interruption (intersection)

it handles a way more traffic than the 6 lane roads.
+ a little cheat: I added an exit at the end of the area to suck the traffic away.

Berious: Happy to hear it! :D Yep, it's meant to be expanded.
Berious 22 Mar, 2015 @ 9:53am
Solved my traffic problems, I've found you can expand the grid much wider and longer without problems.

The green lines show which roads will travel _to_ the hospital. Not which roads the ambulances will use. City services will go as far as they need to in order to do their job
the--dud  [author] 19 Mar, 2015 @ 8:15pm
The green indication doesn't actually show what a service can physically reach, a service vehicle will often travel across town in fact! It's a common misconception about C:S currently :) The green on the road shows the buildings that will get a modifier for being "serviced".

It's certainly a downside to the design that all buildings won't get service modifiers, however they are getting service if you place service buildings on the top loop.
Poltergeist 19 Mar, 2015 @ 7:01pm
If you put all the services on the top of the grid can they reach ALL of the grid? Because in your tutorial video it doesn't seem that the service cars can reach the farthest streets. The hospital for example only greens the first and second streets. It's a great design nevertheless

:( :( i am trying to remember if its because of this mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=407335588&searchtext= (no despawn mod cars) . I can't remember if i saved the game or not..before disabling it... because in an older version.. if you saved a game while its enabled.. and then u exit, disable the mod, load ur game it still permanently "despawn" lol.

doy: Perhaps if you posted your save game somewhere online I could download it and have a look? :)
AndyNumbaWan 19 Mar, 2015 @ 6:58am
wow that's amazing.. i will try to do some changes again ><
the--dud  [author] 19 Mar, 2015 @ 6:37am
Thanks for posting that foo, that's absolutely awesome to see! Two grids and a 180k pop, I'm impressed haha :D
foo 19 Mar, 2015 @ 4:53am
The system works. Here is 180k citizens broken up into two districts: http://box.nevernet.com/~djr/img/DNgZX.png

Small modifications were required, but for the most part, it works swimmingly.

I have made changes, made grids larger like the on youtube video, still same problem.. causing too much traffic when they go down and enter the commercial area. I saw your timelapse using residential.. but residential doesn't really cause much traffic compared to commercial and indtustrial like mine. http://i.imgur.com/95CI9Xw.jpg the problem is when they all try to go in.. i really suck at traffic lol
the--dud  [author] 18 Mar, 2015 @ 7:37am
doy: look at the tutorial video I created because you need to make the grid larger. If you don't extend the grids it's not worth having such an elaborate system for such small populations :)

As for the backed up off-ramp I think you just have way too many cars that needs to travel from your main city down to the southern areas. Perhaps give them a more direct route? Connect the "downwards" highway from the roundabout intersection to somwhere on the "southern" highway?

What could also help is upgrading that backed up off-ramp into a 1-way 2 lane? Perhaps...

I really love your intersections, i use them in my game. But right now i am having problems with traffic, would you mind helping me out? Maybe you can advice me on what to do next. Images are here: http://imgur.com/a/ui5vJ
the--dud  [author] 15 Mar, 2015 @ 4:17pm
I added a new video which tutorializes how to create a grid using this mod :)
the--dud  [author] 15 Mar, 2015 @ 9:18am
I'll make a short howto video later today :)
the--dud  [author] 15 Mar, 2015 @ 9:12am
It's meant to be expanded after you put it down. The asset creator can only make small assets so the default size is far too small to be efficient. I added some more details in the description now...
the--dud  [author] 15 Mar, 2015 @ 9:11am
Yes it can be rotated.
Prester 15 Mar, 2015 @ 6:33am
how did you manage to make it oversize?
Khailik 14 Mar, 2015 @ 11:32pm
Can it be rotated?

Moksu: Great suggestion! I just added a new image :)
Moksu 13 Mar, 2015 @ 11:59pm
Hey man, possible to add screenshot with bigger arrows to see where is the traffic going?
