Is this mod up to date?
At the main menu:
Options > Audio > untick "Use Contextual Music" checkbox.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad it still works - it's a rather old mod, lol!
Thanks for pointing that out! I'll update my descriptions.
Interesting...One of my other music mods stopped working after an update so I assumed this one did too. Well, I'm glad it works for you. Check out my others if you like this one.
I'm afraid it's been quite some time since I maintained this mod. One of the previous updates broke this mod. I apologize for the inconvenience and I will mark this mod as broken.
Ahh. I see. Without that XML file, your mod, or any mod for that matter, will not work. You technically don't need to make the xml file. What I did starting out was I recycled Keen's xml file. The only difference is that in your mod, the audio.sbc file should have your custom directories. For example, if you add "Mus_sadness_2_a_MM.xwm" as a new track, you must alter the directory with "Audio\MUS\MusSadnessOrDesperation\MusSadnessOrDesperation_MM01\Mus_sadness_2_a_MM.xwm". It seems difficult, but it's not. It's just hard for me to put into words when I could show you much easier. I hope this helps. If not, just add me as a friend and we can discuss this in real-time.
Thanks for responding, Ya the problem i have is I see the mod in the listing but when i add it to my private game mod list it doesnt work, I know i have the format down, got a converter program for changing the file types etc, and i have them all in the correct folders as in.
"Mod Name"
/Data
/Audio
Those two folders Data and Audio are inside the mod folder, I've got all the Folders for the in game music in there labeled off as they are in the MUS folder in the Space Engineers main directory. I noticed in your mod the "Data" folder has a XML file in it that has when the music should play and what music will play, However idont know how to make a XML file like that.
So i need some assistance.
If you want to test your mod before publishing it (which is always a good idea), just put the mod folder in your "C:\Users\ username \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Mods\" folder. Then, just go to edit settings for the world you want to test it in and add it.
If it still doesn't work then, you have a deeper issue. I had a few issues when I started out simply because the music wasn't formatted properly. You can always check in game by pressing F11 (I think). If there are any warnings or conflicts they'll show there.
If you still have trouble, let me know. I wrote a front-end specifically for adding in game music, so if need be I can point you in the right direction.
When you were orginally creating this mod, how did you get the mod to show up in the mod listing and im referring to when it was still on your computer before you published it, like how did you test to make sure it worked? I've gotten as far getting my mod to show in the mod listing as a folder however it doesnt replace the ingame music like i want to do. Any idea's?
I wish I knew how! I had that idea as I was making this. I'm sure there's a way, but I don't know how...
Space music on acoustic guitar. Challenge accepted.
Starcraft II terran theme has a sort of rock/metal feel to it.
ok. thx.
It requires some XML know-how and a program to convert mp3 or wav to the .xwm format. All in all it took me about three hours to put this together. That doesn't include trying to find songs that aren't copyrighted. The tutorials here will steer you in the right direction although they are for the soundblock. The concept remains the same though.
I went around YouTube, couldn't find anything but tuts for playing music out the soundblock.
It doesn't count as a skybox. It only replaces the stock music. It works with every skybox mod that I've made (which is about 4 or 5 now), plus others I've subscribed to.
I have made a few darkish skyboxes if you'd like to check those out:
The heavens skybox - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=422453488
Death of a Planet - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=421998327
Golden Galaxy - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=432128670
The concept looks neat. I've always been one for playing the dark skyboxes. now this sound track will go with it perfectly.
I haven't attempted any skyboxes yet but that shouldn't be too difficult for me. I'll seriously consider that.
I've got a plans to make a new one but my job and school are getting in the way LOL. I'm pretty wary of adding music that is copyrighted because I don't need that trouble. My next one should be finished soon.
Thanks!! As much as I'd love to add more music, I'm limited to about 68 tracks since that's the default amount in the game. If KSH adds soundtrack API support, I would definitely do it. Plus, I'm VERY picky about what I choose for music and I'm limited due to the small amount of royalty free music available. I may try a different approach in the future though. I'm glad you love it!
Thank you! I'm happy you like it!
Thanks! Glad you like it!
