Aw, we never got a description for this :steamsad:

I'd like to try this, but I'm too lazy to properly set it up. There's no way this functions as intended without some use of traffic lights and traffic manager.

@asterisk11231 Thank you, thats great work, very nice!
MatteCosta 26 Feb, 2021 @ 1:29pm
Thank you, great work!

Timboh, this is an excellent interchange, +1

If anyone is interested, I made an elevated version that flips the highway and arterial road elevation: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2157038843

This will need some love with TM:PE and blocking pedestrians from crossing to make it flow a bit smoother. Timboh's Windmill version of this should be better. I like it, but heavy traffic will clog it.
necro 2 Jun, 2018 @ 9:23am
Be careful with this! At the start, works okay, but if you're not careful, the lane crossings get clogged up as neither lanes can swap to the other side! To avoid this, upgrade some of the roads to two-lane one-ways and tweak th lane changing with TMPE. Once you've lubed it up, it should work fantastic.

Hey guys, I've built this in a version closer to irl. Check it out!
Refurbished Hamster 4 Aug, 2017 @ 9:24pm
We have one of these in Round Rock TX. It is hilarious. These Texans get so confused, even though the signage is excellent and when people aren't at a dead stop with their blinkers on, it flows very well. Ours is called a Diverging Diamond, but it's a little different. https://goo.gl/maps/13gjD4YHDRP2
kmchsck 8 Oct, 2016 @ 8:06am
with some tweaks, it's usable with large ones.
Zimzorz 11 Sep, 2016 @ 6:00pm
Fine for small and mid level cities. Large ones? Forget it.
EdenMatrix 9 Aug, 2016 @ 7:48am
They're building these right near my place in Sarasota, FL. Bit of a different layout though.
coffeemom 2 Jun, 2016 @ 7:43pm
Had one of these built nearby in real life. Solves traffic problems in game and real life.

I have a beautiful SPUI intersection that is much smaller than this and works beautifully... unfortunately, it requires Traffic President or other lane-customizing mod.
Not Root 23 Apr, 2016 @ 2:23pm
@ohenry415 There's such a thing, at least in theory, as a "service stack", which is three tiers, but it's more of a variation on the traditional diamond.

@Elaine I just uploaded this:

My version is slightly expolity though :p

@Timboh On that note, looking at your take I have to wonder if we're missing something in how these behave ingame. I thought it owed mostly to my incredibly short road segments but you have yours a bit longer and sounds like it's just as effective. Hmm. There's something more than lack of stoplights going on here. Lights or no, intersections in close proximity usually get screwed by traffic trying to not block intersections. But for whatever reason, traffic isn't too concerned about blocking the crossovers in our DDIs. Is there some edge case involving one-way streets we've missed?
L-laine 23 Feb, 2016 @ 9:38pm
Is there a more compact version that's just a little bit smaller?
Timboh  [author] 16 Jan, 2016 @ 4:25am
@Another Jake: I personally think it's the lack of traffic lights that makes this interchange work pretty well in-game, but like you say, the lower speed limit might have encouraged your citizens to choose other routes. Anyhow, I'm glad it helped you solve your problem :D
Another Jake 13 Jan, 2016 @ 3:49pm
I don't even understand how this worked so well. I had a major problem with traffic jams using a supposed high-volume interchange and switching to this solved it in a minute. I have an inkling that the lower speed limits on this one may have helped indirectly by diverting traffic to other routes... Whatever the case. Thanks. :steamhappy:
Nixill 19 Apr, 2015 @ 4:42am
@planetarian @Nibycolisp - That's actually the very one I suggested modeling this after.
ohener 17 Apr, 2015 @ 1:40pm
Is there a name for an interchange that is like this but uses 3 levels instead of intersections?
Brandon 11 Apr, 2015 @ 9:33am
super ce que tu fais, merci pour le temps que tu nous donnes
Tetrix 3 Apr, 2015 @ 8:14pm
Timboh you are awesome!
LadyDaKare 3 Apr, 2015 @ 4:40pm
This exists in Atlanta, GA on AshfordDunwoody and I285. It's great for traffic in real life. It's also great in this game. Thanks Timboh!
Ambition 3 Apr, 2015 @ 4:19pm
This is a great way to bottleneck your city
Chami 3 Apr, 2015 @ 11:41am
I always wondered what these were called. Only one I've seen is the one in Lexington KY at New Circle - Harrodsburg Rd
HoloTheWiseWolf 3 Apr, 2015 @ 6:01am
This fixed my traffic problem, thanks so much.
Tiberone 3 Apr, 2015 @ 3:51am
Never hook these up as highway exits to high density residental and commercial..... It's just mayhem and traffic clogs.
yrmp 2 Apr, 2015 @ 5:16pm
One in Lexington, KY at Harrodsburg Road and New Circle Road.
kai 2 Apr, 2015 @ 10:21am

Great!

These Interchanges are the best!
mattman2712 2 Apr, 2015 @ 12:09am
I just watched a video on youtube of how this intersection works, these things sound great
dold 1 Apr, 2015 @ 3:51pm
there are two of these in Concord, NC. Poplar Tent rd @ I-85 ; Hwy 73 @ I-85 for those who may be interested
Lucentius 1 Apr, 2015 @ 6:37am
nice intersection
timster121 1 Apr, 2015 @ 4:50am
Addan, they work pretty well. There's one in Baltimore (intersection of I-695 and Reisterstown Road) that shares lanes. They change direction depending on who has the right-of-way.
Ferdilanz 31 Mar, 2015 @ 3:28pm
This looks silly and defies actual traffic entropies.
fцику мцику 31 Mar, 2015 @ 12:34pm
Aren't you bored of making intersections yet?
Hank Schrader 31 Mar, 2015 @ 5:20am
they are very affective...my town has one
Timotheos 31 Mar, 2015 @ 1:28am
is it very effective. . ?
