@usswat64 They're not updated to Dx11.

I'm going to be fixing them VERY soon. I already have one turret redone after a slog to rebuild the models.

Releasing the mod or adding contributers would be a good idea if you feel you wont have the time in coming mouth or years. I have never done programming in space engineers nor models but i do have time to spare. Can't say if am the man for the job but you should still think about doing something about it, your mods are one of kind.

I think I may be able to set aside time to work on these again each week starting this week, if not I may release the source files/(add contributers?) to get the mods alive again.

I know these mods are you brain child and all, and that life can get hectic making working on what is really a side project to life hard to get around to, but if you cant work on them for more than a year?
Maybe its time to turn it over to someone who has less life complications. That way the mod lives on, you dont have to try and find some way to make both life and the mod work, and all of us who use these glorious mods can get the updates we have been starved of....
Give the source files to someone who can continue your work, someone without the level of distraction you are obviously having workin on the mod due to life.
At least give those of us who have been waiting patienly all this time SOMETHING to go off of, other than to use Witches DX11 conversion. This mod deserves to live on somehow........

I'd love to see something with high RoF, looking like the german Rheinmetall "Mantis" C-RAM. Perhaps in like (l*b*h) 1*1*2 and 3*3*5 for both ship types? Would look awesome along with these guns on a gunship/small and medium cruiser type ship

Has anyone else run into the problem of the texturing of the single barrel 5" turret having a box on the end that spins when is fires? also the texture seems to turn into a one color thing when i place it down. My friends and I love this mod, but the texture thing and the spinning box on the end of the gun ruin the ascetics.

For some reason whenever I try to manual aim the 5" double turret in survival my game crashes. Might want to look into that

DirectX11 update is released. Could you see if you could get your textures working in DX11? I love your weapons mods and want to see what they'll look like with the new DirectX.

@mecra all part of balance, these aren't for destroying heavy armor. These are meant as a lighter ship class main weapon or a secondary weapon on a larger ship and scour the surface of heavy armor ships and wreck small and light ships they hit. My 6" guns are the corresponding armor penetrators and the larger guns can do both. As to range, yes 900m outranges the stock guns but the spread pattern makes them much less effective at this range and if the opponent cant close (or open) the range that is his fault and after all, if one person has these guns they were available for both (I don't think the modding of range actually functions past 800m anyway)

I probably need to make some other 6" turret options to better compliment these at some point.

is there also a reason why they need to be 900m ranged? That makes these far superior than regular weapons in that you can engage a ship without being touched. (if they don't build any of these weapons.)

I just have to say that this is probably the best and most balanced weapons mod I've seen. It's highly effective against fighters and does appreciably more damage than the gatling gun. Yet it doesn't do too much damage. Just a great overall weapons system.

This is just want my fleet has been waiting for! I love the fact that you put rotation limits on them. It has kept them from tearing a hole in my aft hangar during combat.
And they look really great mounted on just about any ship I've put them on.

I was thinking about a cockpit that can move on one axis, more than likely the Y-axis, with the function of being able to place blocks on the side of it that way you can make a manned turret by just placing guns on the side. Maybe a turret that doubles as a cockpit as well.

I'm always willing to hear an idea out, sure... and you can swap ammo types out, but it only works in survival and you have to manually fire the first shot for the gun/turret to register the ammo change.

That'd be great, what would be better is if space engineers allowed swapping ammo types for guns. Otherwise keep em coming the game needs more guns that rotate atleast on one axis so it's easier to make custom turrets that aren't so flimsy. Also are you open to receiving ideas?

I like where the HE damage is at on these for now, I'm planning on making 6" guns with projectile/AP ammo as well as 11" and 16" guns that can use both. I might consider giving AP ammo to the 5" and HE to the 6" as secondary ammo types. Also I'm considering a 3" gun (mostly for smallships but with a large ship mount). Any rebalancing will take place once I get atleast 2 of the other size gun packs in working order.

The steel plates in the game are 20 kg so I'm going to estimate 1 inch which since its space and space has lots of tiny asteroids that could put holes in your ship I'm assuming its homogenous armor. I also believe its homogenous because the developers want this game to have things based on actual science. So any case a 5" gun is going to penetrate 1" of armor but then there are the other 3 inches of armor it has to get through. So, thereby 4 rounds if you hit the exact same spot every time.

@A100percentBEEF 2500mm or 2.5m which the size of a large ship block. The small ship light armor block is .5 m or 500 mm. Taking a step further when you build the light armor block you can't see extra plates inside so its not a solid block. What you can see is 2 plates for one wall during the build stages so atleast 4 plates for an HE round to blast through not taking surface area into account. Manufacturers' Standard Gauge for Sheet Steel is based on an average weight of 41.82 lb (18.96 kg) per square foot per inch thick.

And its worked around, the angled casemates and single turrets now take up 1x1x3 and 1x3x1 (collision mesh shortly, forgot to make them for these now that the default box is nolonger any good)... the same issue completely shutdown the next somewhat odd turret (not the triple 11") I was planning :( I still might add it since you can leave the targetting to the AI and hotkey the fire once in your cockpit.

I've discovered a major issue with the way the game determines if a turret can shoot which effectively breaks the single turret at low angles if you surround the base with armor.

plenty of ships in ww2 were still mounting casemates (mostly holdovers but still) both turrets are vaguely inspired by various ww2 destroyer turrets

Ok, I'm going to be uploading a new version of the twin turret to this, besides making the model smoother I changed the centerline of the turret and the sight on the barrels and would like opinions on if this is an improvement or if I should go back to the old version.
