It doesn't work like a shield would with the fancy scripts. It's just a regular block unfortunately.
[BR]SharkStrike 16 Jul, 2022 @ 11:09pm
Too bad I didn't find this years ago.
It's exactly what I always thought the shield in Space Engineer should be.
If the community had used this approach all along, we'd have something better. That doesn't overload the game, doesn't need a dependency and maybe it would even work on Xbox as well.

Yes sadly
Mizar 9 Apr, 2021 @ 2:57am
So what you are saying is that two of the four shield blocks are decorative only?

Pros:
-Looks cool
-Functional version is very durable
Cons:
-The functional version takes up a 7:3:3 (w:h:l) space while the actual shield is only 7:2:2

Not sure, will ask TumbleTv :)

Hey Guys. Make this an advanced door, the "plate" can deploy from the base. Itll block bullets etc. If you have trouble lemme know I have mockups of this kind of thing finished if you need one for dismantling/learning.
Ranos 2 Apr, 2016 @ 12:59pm
@ HelperGuy The only way to check is to fly into them. They act just like a sheet of metal infront of your ship. Any way, here is my review of them.

how do you know if the sheild is working?
SEModder4  [author] 11 Jan, 2016 @ 4:35pm
yup :)
zenebatos1 11 Jan, 2016 @ 4:20pm
So that its clear to people, non functional is only cosmetic, functional is an actual block that will take impacts, but like any other blocks, because of the size, it will et in the way, hit things when you fly next to it and require to think before placing.
rod 3 Oct, 2015 @ 6:36pm
lol thanks!
SEModder4  [author] 3 Oct, 2015 @ 1:54pm
Yeah, there is a functional and non-functional one.
rod 3 Oct, 2015 @ 1:49pm
is this mod still working?
LocInt 1 Oct, 2015 @ 8:13am
Is there a reason why it does not appear on the control panel? It doesn't work either.
Solraven 25 Jul, 2015 @ 9:32pm
i guess your saying it is like a piston without a head? so couldnt you cut the projected part of the shield into 9 pieces with there own bounding boxes, that when off/open they are inside the block you place (so it takes one block space), than when you turn it on/closed the pieces would fold/roll/extend out of the block just like the retractable ramps.

SEModder4  [author] 24 Jul, 2015 @ 9:38am
Retractable ramps are because they are attached to a rotor/piston/ hinge therefore they have their own bounding box.
Solraven 24 Jul, 2015 @ 4:40am
but now that the bounding box matches the size of the entire shield it hardly usable. you cant use it to shield your cockpit. you cant build next to it. and in dx9 it is not "more invisible".

if retractable ramps can block bullets and missiles outside the bounding box why can thies. retractable ramps can even cut an enemy ship in half. i have been using them to cut printed objects off the base too.
Lex174 10 Jul, 2015 @ 12:18am
Thanks! I just asked because I tried both and both worked fine.
SEModder4  [author] 9 Jul, 2015 @ 11:01am
The functional shield has a working collision mesh because the bounding box matches the size of the entire shield, where as the normal one does not.

anything outside the bounding box the collision mesh will not work.
Lex174 9 Jul, 2015 @ 6:03am
Is there any difference between the normal and the "Functional" one?
SEModder4  [author] 4 Jul, 2015 @ 2:51pm
sorry. been busy all day :)

I will see :)
Spock The Builder 4 Jul, 2015 @ 8:36am
No comment on the decoy idea? Fine... jk jk. Thanks for the awesome work.
deadshift2010 3 Jul, 2015 @ 3:24pm
Nice!

deadshift2010 3 Jul, 2015 @ 1:33pm
Sweet, that'll be awesome, thanks
SEModder4  [author] 3 Jul, 2015 @ 1:31pm
I will just change the ones that are currently in the mod pack and make them more invisible like they should be :)

I will make the changes in both this pack and the complete pack :)
deadshift2010 3 Jul, 2015 @ 1:28pm
Sweet. will it be a seperate mod, or just included in this modpack?
SEModder4  [author] 3 Jul, 2015 @ 1:27pm
ok, once I finish with these bug fixes I will update them to be more invisible :)
deadshift2010 3 Jul, 2015 @ 1:26pm
Thatd work splendidly :D
SEModder4  [author] 3 Jul, 2015 @ 11:42am
I could make them more invisible? :)
deadshift2010 3 Jul, 2015 @ 2:38am
Just wondering if there was any way you could make a version of this being semie transluscent to look more like an energy shield, maybe like a nearly transluscent with a pale blue? Just wondering, cause i'd really like to have some sort of "energy Shield"
SEModder4  [author] 2 Jul, 2015 @ 11:29pm
Yes they are :D
BlackBirdXI 2 Jul, 2015 @ 11:08pm
I see that you updated these to work, but are the working versions in the azimuth mod pack?
Spock The Builder 2 Jul, 2015 @ 7:01pm
It would also be cool to be able to have these act as armored decoys. =)

Everything just passes through the shields...
SEModder4  [author] 29 Jun, 2015 @ 8:39am
I can actually just add them to the mod pack with code, it won't take up any more space for the file size. :)
Aziraphale 29 Jun, 2015 @ 6:25am
so what are your future plans? any mod ideas you care to share ?
Pure_Diamond 29 Jun, 2015 @ 2:46am
Can you release a version of this that works?
Duke Venator Mythis 28 Jun, 2015 @ 11:27pm
What exactly does this do?
SEModder4  [author] 28 Jun, 2015 @ 6:50pm
I am working to finish the Azimuth Weapons Pack(not including the Ravager/Gemini turrets.

With a HUGE HUGE help from Eikester these turrets are now possible( Keep in mind everyone I did NOT make these models)
All the models/data code was made by TumbleTV and not me. :D

I only upgraded the models for DX-9 and the new DX-11 Compatability. :D
SEModder4  [author] 28 Jun, 2015 @ 2:43pm
I can try, but "making" 3D models is not exactly my specialty :)
Ulfsark 28 Jun, 2015 @ 2:41pm
Big ass guns ...

SEModder4, once you are done converting and tinking with TumbleTV's Azimuth series, would you perhaps be available to make models with me for some of my ideas? I'm trying to find someone to make models for the series of mods i have planned out. I can edit the sbc files ...
