will you be updating this mod to have a proper model again? the current model is pink
i remember being one of the ones on the original MAC mod which sugguested the OP version and the smallship version

Is it just me or does somebody else have the problem, that this weapon wont show up as a weapon in the G-menu, ergo you cant fire it with the left mouse button?

Wouldn't it just be MAC? MAC stands for "Mass Accelerator cannon".

Love everything about this except I feel one thing that needs clarification:
When you said range is 800m, do you mean turret "targeting range" is 800 or does the projectile literally disappear at 800m?

I think the best option would be to keep AI targeting range at 800 (same as all turrets like you said), but the projectile itself should travel much much further than that. This would give it some added benefitial utility for manual targeting. Best of all, it wouldn't be OP, because the further the target is away, the much harder it is to hit anything with manual firing.

And don't listen to the complainers about the size; BIG cannons are BEST cannons! :D

Well, brandonoakley72, I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear that the massive cannons are going to definitely be close to looking like the game - I'm also making a second one that goes more with the general SE theme for those that don't want any relation to HALO.

For the large ship version do you think you can make it look like the fixed variant I've seen on the ships in the games/lore? If you need I have a picture of a in lore/game ship with zoomed in sections on where the MAC Guns are mounted. Otherwise a cool mod that I can hardly wait to use once my computer issues are taken care of.

little suggestion: where matter/mass accelerators are concerned, they need huge electrical current storage for bursts of insane output. so in that respect, what about having a charge function, or even an overcharge function (fire the projectile at even more insane velocity/damage, but damage the gun as well)?

engineeredforlife, You should know full well that that is just annoying. If you have something useful to post, please do so. But I do take time to read the comments on this page, thats how the other two editions of this design were suggested. Please, don't do this and cringe later when you find out how annoying this kind of thing is when you are older. Yes, I know I shouldn't react to this this way, but really, some kid copying and pasting a (Really, quite played out) meme onto a random page and having no real input is really just a move that has been played too often and that you will probably be embarrased about later, I know, I did this sorta thing years ago. So please, don't do that.


In other news, the SBCEdit program that I've been working on should be ready fairly soon, a week or two, perhaps? And the other two huge non-op but still massively powerful cannon will come out probably a couple or so weeks after that. Thank you for being patient, and I love the input!

Well, I_South, the range is the same as a regular missile turret, and the velocity, sadly, doesn't give me any decernable units :( I'll see what I can do hold on tight.

I am intregued about your cannon I am building a ship with full fire control system using programable blocks to predict the location of a potential target at a certain time based on extrapelating its observed course and speed over a period of time then calculating the angles etc that the cannon would need to be fired at to hit the target creating guided guns for long range engagements thus may I enquire to the range of the cannon as well as the muzzle velocity of the rounds

Well, Vix Sparda, I've already talked with him. I know like 6 programming languages including C# but I really don't want to mess with the modding API for now, it seems really underpowered. It seems though, that my buddy, Jim (Author of some nice server admin mods) might be helping him to make it work as or better than the original! Oh, and CAPTAIN ASH, I've been and am going to be working on a tool for both first time and advanced modders. Its an SBC editor for the mods that uses a node based system (ever seen Blender Cycles render nodes? No? See here https://goo.gl/SGQp6b)

Well, Vix Sparda, maybe I'll team up with the mass driver guy. You never know... Also, as for my username, I used to play HALO, and people would gape at my name in awe, as they were wondering how the hell I reserved the name 'Masterchief'. Well what they failed to notice is that there was an 'i' missing. It still made sense without the 'i', so I kept it. I always told them I used magick to get it. I use it in basically all my stuff, but different passwords so hackers are a little bit more deterred.

Derp gas, it seems you are confused about the name. 'Fixed' means here that it does not swivel and track things, unlike the original version.

When the MAC gun large version is complete, I will definitely be using it on some of my ships. Lances on a Warhammer Cruiser and proper MACs on Halo ships, here I come!

Small ships can do damage to large ships. They can take out all exterior systems if left unchecked and if they carry enough missiles, they can punch through armor as well. But a weapon that punches huge holes into large ship armor with a single shot is an anti-capital ship weapon and that should be something that's exclusive to big ships. I mean, where would small ships even take the power from to fire such a powerful weapon? I've never seen small ships carry devestating nukes in any sci-fi universe, unless they are dedicated bombers. It just doesn't make much sense (in terms of realism and immersiveness). Note that I'm just sharing my opinion. Of course all mods are optional. Looking forward to the large ship fixed version.

Well, whats the point of having small ship fighters then if you can't do damage, Yaddah? Also, the large version AI can be seriously outmanuevered - it turns so slow it can't possibly hit a small ship, especially at close range. Also, if you don't like the gun don't use it because all of the peices of my mod are separate, meaning you can pick and choose. Also if you read the description I am making a lrage ship only fixed version. Thank you for commenting though!

I would've liked to see such a powerful weapon be a fixed mount only for large ships. To me it doesn't make sense that small ships should be easily able to seriously damage large ships. And making the large ship version an AI guided turret also seems way too strong. It kind of makes player constructed turrets with strong fixed weapons obsolete, even though that is one of the coolest things you can do in SE. That shouldn't be.

Fixed means that it does not swivel, and is used as a stationary gun on your ship that you aim and fire, rather than an automatic turret.

Make the end of the large ship version have like a block around the barrel so we can integrate it seamlessly into our halo ships and bust some woop-ass into some shielded covie ships >:D
