I didn't change CoAs (other than adding a few new ones - USA, Canada, Brazil, and Belarus) as that's a lot of work, and most of the CoAs are reasonable. If anyone wants to submit a bunch of new CoAs (128x128 tga files), I could update the mod.
As mod covers over 200 years of possible start dates, I did some title renaming (like Empire of Russia to Soviet Union then back) depending on start date, instead of making each a completely separate title. Making Soviet Union a separate thing would mean nothing is de jure for it, and it would just fall apart right away, breaking gameplay. As player you can rename your title in-game if something makes more sense for alt history you're telling.
Does it answer your questions?
It should be compatible with most mods that don't change the map or history files.
gwennetts: CK2 merchant republics are just even more different from modern countries than CK2 feudals. They're all about coastal trading, so you can't have inland one, and nothing really makes much sense. I created some vassal merchant republics for people who want to give it a go, but I don't think it would be a good default experience.
Otherwise you'll get guaranteed game over as Queen Victoria, and she should definitely be one of recommended playable characters. And if I made her marriage matrilineal, then the whole British line following her would be her dynasty.
In theory, this could be solved with some custom events based on start date. If anyone wants to give it a go, let me know.
If you have an existing campaign, each invader only does it a small number of times.
is this intentional cause america is not on the map
For non-rulers, very few other characters are historic, they're just randomly generated.
