Welp, looks like I bent the map, rather than outright broke it. =p
In getting the first light bridge set up, I wrote off the use of jumping to get the portal placement on the laser from the bridge, since that didn't seem intended. I used the button cage to set up the laser, then host_timescale to make sure I could place both portals when I went up to the top.
From there, solution was the same untill getting a new box. I pressed the button, and let the box funnel through to the other side. Next, I made sure to put the funnel on the opposite wall over the water as high as it would go on the panel. Once I drew level with the panels on the left, I wriggled up and placed the portal as low as it could go on them, thereby sucking me towards that wall.

1) You quick grab the cube in the orange funnel from the other side of the portal.
2) Toss the cube while in the funnel on to the button.
I did both and I did it wrong! I cannot believe I did not see the correct solution sooner! I think both moves can be prevented, but all the same-- nice puzzle! I just hope no one else stumbles on the moves I made. Yes, there were no dirty tricks as you said!
I'd like to throw some of that "brilliance" credit over to toncica for helping me work out the unfavorable kinks in this. There's still a little more work to do, considering polux's funny breaks.
