But adding new functionality can worse. Actually i could live with not a perfect visual. Maybe i do not need a model. Most important is an 'active' area for a pluggable. With barrels it can be achieved with barrelHolder.AddSlot and fuelHandler.AddSlot. But these are in class Vehicle and FuelHandler. Those powerpoints, i think only reside in "buildingblock", not in vehicle. Non of the vehicles use powerpoints, so it might not be possible. Still getting my head around this jungle of classes. Pepe143 solved it with a barrel with power. Brilliant.
But I want a cable :-)
Changing the direction of power flow at an already existing outlet was easy.
Patching a power plug to a vehicle.. (I was even unable to change the modded outlets color..)
You MAY need additional 3rd party modeling software for this.
I dont know how to change the models.
will do.
That is strange, I have never seen such behaviour. This should definetly *NOT* happen.
You mentioned it appeared in a multiplayer game..
As I have not played TOM MP I missed some bugs(which only appears in MP of course).
Thanks to all the kind people who told me about them I will try to fix them.
Last idea to check:
Please try a singleplayer game with a working 3d printer(like those dev-printer which does not need resources) and build some solar panels, power cables and power hungry stuff.
I will definetly look into this issue but.. it may take some days before a patch may be released.
Just send me some "time" ^^
ok. so far that has not been the case in MP set ups. in stead the soler read a continuas drain from the batts even after being disconnected from the grid and only show a less then .1W power chage from the panle itself. im not serten what to think with this.
Any solarpanel/MMRTG build(after mod activation) will change connctions (original:2xoutput) to one input and one output. This does NOT affect already "placed" panels(like in a scenario).
Any solar panel/mmrtg build using a printer(after mod activation) will have one input/one output.
To get the total ammount of produced/consumed energy try to place those "boxes" at the end of the powerline(err.. those thing which got 6 inputs/6outputs, connector box?).
This thing should show the actual power/drain in the power line so far.
haveing a bug where the new panls will not charge for a RTG. is this a fualt in the mod or will thay only charge from other soler panls?
Known "problems":
1) dont forget to activate this mod..
2) only newly build solar panels will have this function.
3) Blame me, i was too lazy to add different coloured plugs on the solar panels
Just try to put one power cable to the "assembled" solar panel.
When done try to put the other end there, too ;)
You could line up as many panels as you wish(and the game allows :D ) and lets them power a device.
Like in the picture in the description above(you may click it so it will enlarged for better view)
There is only one problem left:
even if the power lines are connected
the power consumption of the soil extractor is very high.. so it will take some time to "load" the batteries in the solar panels to power up the extractor itself..
Thats why we are trying to connect as much panels as possible :D
It *should* work if the tower is near the solar panel thing.
One idea.. the end of the cable plug should "face" in the direction of the communication tower plug.
If it targets sideways those "hologram" of fitting will not appear.
Just take up the opposite END of the power cord.. and face it near the plug.
The "collision" fit position was slightly above/below the plug in test version, just try it out.
If the power cord is not long enough it will not fit or even worse.. "jumping" around without deploying power
I hope Dram is going to implement at least a shovel so we can bury those damned cables or..
electricity pylons :D
It did in one part what I was building out of six parts. But did not effect the benefits your mod offers.
So this addon seems slightly obsolete..
Hey, exactly what i needed,
it is so hard to find some good guides for modding, thank you!!
Now you could place those panels even on a printer :D
For modifying of the connector itself you should watch this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s5CQ8YL-sA
and then you will find the model inside power_solar.xob ;)
I changed only one logical state from TRUE to FALSE and the plug changed to INput.
The hardest work was to find the correct file, changing the file and testing was done really fast.
Thanks to Dram(I dont know the names of any other of the team YET, sorry!) we are able to mod the game.
Blame me for not having been able to "paint" the changed plug with a diffferent colour..
