This mod appears to no longer work in the latest update, it now creates a Null Pointer reference.

@ShadowEater25 If you are willing to sacrifice Distance, ramp down the performance on your jump drives. You still wont be able to tactical jump inside a gravity well but you can get the timing down so the only wait is the Spin up time for the jump itself which is ten seconds

I use a small ship with a reactor and I have the power, But the wait is terrible
Please make a shorter mod!

Can't load the mod into the game for some reason. I try to look up Jump Drive to build it and it doesn't show up in the listing.

Like what you have done but it really needs balancing. Its mass is immense, its range too short and its build cost too high.

Anyone else experiencing the jump aborted error due to distance being too short? Seems to be a common issue with all small ship jump drive mods. Trying to find a working one.

OK I'll check the components needed tomorrow. Regarding the missing sounds and stuff: this mod was released before Keen updated the jump drive and that's why it's missing some stuff but I never felt like it was necessary to add.

From comparing various small to large grid parts, it would seem that a flat ratio of 1:9 would match the current vanilla style. However, I find this ratio a bit too easy considering the technology and would therefore suggest something between 1:6 to 1:7.

PS: Not sure if it defaults to the Large Jump Drive stats but the following appear to be missing from your mod:

Hi there. I've looked into it and whatever I was looking at yesterday was incorrect. It seems the mass it determined by the parts used to build it and since your mod uses half the amount of parts, the small jump drive block also weight half as much. My bad for any misleading.

Current weights are 36 580 for the large and 18 290 for the small one. It is still quite a lot of weight for a small grid ship (1:2 ratio).

I am trying to come up with a ratio that would nicely fit. if we just look at the small grid light armor block for instance, it takes 1 steel to make it while the large grid one is 25 (a 1:25 ratio).

I will compare more small vs large grid parts to get a good sense of the ratio used for other things and post my findings here. Thanks for your quick reply :)

Hi! This mod is exactly what I was looking for BUT the amount of weight it adds doesn't make any sense. It adds up close to 20 000 to my small ship weight which is 25 000. From a test I just made, the original Jump Drive uses 20 000 on a large grid. Since the smaller version uses half the material, I would also expect it to weight half as much. The current weight makes it not very practical on small grid ships hence beating the very purpose of this mod. Do you have any plans of adjusting this or can I adjust it on my end? Thanks. Nice little mod btw :)

I haven't actually used it but from the distance bar it says 5km. It would actually be faster to physically fly there. Either way, it is still functional for a quick get away.

5 seconds? wtf??? same distance like normal jumpdrive... thats what i neeed :)
