Sorry to bother
If so, totally need this mod.
Any leader associated with the defeated army will have a defeated army traits. There why in history, defeated general get swap out or behead when they are defeated.
If to go even further,
normal/shatter retreated applied depend on general martial/ leadership skill
If to go Full historical mode
Formula the enermy General vs Own faction general martial skill and leadership skill to determine Shatter and normal Retreat
Just putting this out there =P (sorry for the two post. word limit)
"Morale do no recover over time when they are retreating and added with a Heavy Penalty Recovering Cost+ wtih a bad Buff of "defeated army ".
it make sense right? When retreating, loser army ditch their equipment so that they can run faster than attacker.
Plus the morale doesnt recover when they are retreating, only the time when their retreated to friendly base, then they can recover their morale and extra cost needed to replenish their equipment back.
Not only that, the morale of that army will not be the same as before until certain time has passed. Thus, "defeated army" trait is needed. (we can use the defeated peasant trait on the general)
For instance it annoyes the heck out of me that *vikings* don't flee back to their boats when fleeing but instead move further *innland* to cause even *more* of a nusance...
But I actually quite like the mechanics for *regular* combat with land based armies...
So thank you Stanley.
On that note, I looked through the defines.lua file and found that there are variables related to shattered retreats that can be changed. I think I'll reduce the speed at which a shattered army moves so they aren't all Zulu athletes and the number of provinces they can run away to so they aren't moving across whole countries. I like shattered retreat, but I'll change these numbers to make it more sensible.
I would much rather be able to encircle and destroy armies, chase them down, or even wipe them out in one decisive battle (all things which have happened numerous times throughout history) than watch invincible armies march at superhuman speed across an entire country while reinforcing the whole way.
