Nice mod but it costs too many points when added to other mods I like I never have enough hero points to get everything I want so I have to choose and I want the other one that allows for 3 types of specialties for every hero. Uniqueness and individuality creates the best diversity.

Hi Aurick! It's not that those starting abilities disappear when you enter combat, but when you recruit them. This is when such an ability has a requirement added by the mod which the hero doesn't have (e.g. a spell that belongs to Warlock II, but the hero doesn't have that specialization hero upgrade when joining). It's sadly only something that could be resolved by editing all the heroes to make sure such ability combinations don't exist, but I never found the nerve to attempt that as it would be super tedious work.
Aurick 11 Jul, 2021 @ 12:23pm
I've noticed that the unique abilities of heroes (such as if they start with invisibility or have starting spells) vanish the moment that hero enters combat. Is this intentional? If so, which .rpk was modified to do this (more for my own education on modding)

Hi Nexious! I did actually look at the issue back then, but it was not simple to find the cause. I could only figure it out now because I ran into a similar issue while working on the new Tieflings.
Nexious 11 May, 2021 @ 1:40pm
Ah, finally! It only took you 4 years but you did it so i'm still happy about it :D
Eomolch  [author] 11 May, 2021 @ 12:30pm
In case anybody still cares about this, I just pushed a fix for the issue that Female Forstling Theocrat leaders could only learn Tigran professions instead of Frostling ones. (this is actually a fix in the hero dev mod, so there is no new version from this mod needed)
Twiggymc 28 Apr, 2021 @ 5:58am
i was actually looking at it didn't even notice the name of the modder yea ill check it out for sure
Eomolch  [author] 28 Apr, 2021 @ 12:37am
No problem, it was actually just good timing since I was playing and modding AoW3 again recently ;) (you may want to check out my new Tiefling race if you still play AoW3)

But I'm glad you brought this issue up so I could fix it.
Twiggymc 26 Apr, 2021 @ 6:28pm
Yep its fixed, thanks for updating even after all this time
Eomolch  [author] 26 Apr, 2021 @ 11:28am
Hi Twiggymc! Sorry it took a bit longer to find time, but now the human female archdruid (and orc female archdruid) should also correctly get the racial hero upgrades :)
Twiggymc 13 Apr, 2021 @ 3:25pm
Awesome, human arch druid is one of the few classes i havn't gotten a win on, and each time i try this kinda discourages me, its not a massive deal but its still nice to have
Eomolch  [author] 13 Apr, 2021 @ 1:23am
Hi Twiggymc! Thanks for reporting this, I'm going to take a look - sounds like the leader template unit for human archdruid is lacking the hero property I use in my mods to enable racial hero upgrades.
Twiggymc 13 Apr, 2021 @ 12:06am
I know its awfully late but Any time i make a human druid i can never pick from the professions the ones from your other mod show up fine beastmaster/hunter/shaman, but i can't pick any of these ones, it seems to only happen on human druid as well

Does this work with Triumphant heroes?
hiliadan 3 Mar, 2021 @ 3:01pm
@avenger711: mostly yes, though there might be some abilities which are modified by both mods and only one will prevail. That's still playable though. See the thread on compatibilities with the balance mod for more explanations: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/661597466/1872875360328033328/

Is it compatible with Balance mod?

@Zlymo "Hi again, I really hope that you are still planning on updating this mod. Because I'm not only waiting for the fix to the female frostling theocrat but I would also like to see this mod being able to support your Archon race and the Insectoid race that comes from another mod. I would be so happy if you did just that :D"

@Icezera "Hi Eomoloch, do you think you will expand this to cover your archon race one day?"

I hope the same :hearter: Rdy to send few € if it inspires author to make em. Good September & rest of the year to all fans of Age of Wonders Series :hearter: :timer:

Are you planning on updating anytime soon? Been waiting for a fix to the female frostling theocrat :)
Zenzi Aurora 17 Jul, 2017 @ 1:51am
Yes, it is just the Ruler, frostling female theocrat that still has the issue.
Zenzi Aurora 17 Jul, 2017 @ 1:37am
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1077000149 I think it may just be specificly the Ruler, female theocrat that has the issue.
Eomolch  [author] 12 Jul, 2017 @ 9:23am
Hi Zenzi Aurora, I actually thought I had fixed this! But maybe my memory has just gone from bad to worse ;-) Will take a look at it again!
Zenzi Aurora 5 Jul, 2017 @ 4:40pm
Hello, I noticed that the female Frostling leader bug is still in the game (was reported by Zlymo back in december.) . where the female frostling thocrat leader still gets Tigrun abilities.
Knickalen 4 Jul, 2017 @ 8:56am
Well you have done a lot already, you have made the game much more entertaining. I wouldn't presume to expect any more. But I won't say I wouldn't love to have my wood elf werewolf tribe someday ;) Thank you very much for the reply as well :)
Eomolch  [author] 3 Jul, 2017 @ 4:58pm
Hi Knickalen, I remember that I was thinking about doing exactly that - make a secret spell that could either summon a werewolf or turn a friendly humanoid unit into one. In the end I didn't get around to do it but maybe I should take your question as a reason to put this back on my to do list :)
Knickalen 2 Jul, 2017 @ 10:12am
Hello, just curious if you ever released a manner (Secret Spell etc) to have other races become werewolves? Love to have some elven werewolves :)
High Summoner 30 Jun, 2017 @ 7:00am
Yes, it works for me now with the 2.0 version.
Eomolch  [author] 30 Jun, 2017 @ 3:17am
Hi High Summoner, doesn't the mod already work well together with said compatibility mod? I say that since the critical part for racial hero upgrades is implemented in the hero development mod and not in this one.
High Summoner 25 Jun, 2017 @ 12:11pm
Any chance to get the Empire Development Compatibility mod to work with this one too?
hiliadan 2 May, 2017 @ 9:43am
Hello Eomolch! Any plan to update the PDF manual? If not, could you please release it in Word format so that we can update it? Also, would it be possible to make a version which does not require Racial Heritage? I'd like to play maps with the 2 hero mods but not Racial Heritage, as the hero stuff is really good and I believe it should be added to almost all games, whereas Racial Heritage, though very good, brings some changes that some may not like/want.
Eomolch  [author] 5 Jan, 2017 @ 2:28pm
Hi Zlymo, the bug may seem weird but it makes actually sense since I had to use fake hero upgrades to "mark" the race of each hero and leader so that they can only learn the abilities belonging to their race. I must have accidently given the tigran ability to the female frostling theocrat. Thank's for reporting this!!
Nexious 17 Dec, 2016 @ 4:17pm
Hm, it appears that I have found a bug. A very wierd one but a bug nontheless. When you have a female frostling theocrat she gets the professions that tigrans should have instead of the frostling ones. I have tested this many times and it only appears with this specific leader combination (it works normally with male frostling theocrats or with female frostlings of any other class) It would be nice if you fixed this issue.
Eomolch  [author] 11 Sep, 2016 @ 7:39am
Hi Mike, unfortunately you do need the racial heritage mod for this mod to work. This is because a lot of the new abilities from the racial heritage mod are used by this mod.
MORROGANDER 6 Sep, 2016 @ 2:30pm
Thanx for ur hard work!
Gaper Bingzoid 5 Sep, 2016 @ 6:19pm
Do i need the Racial Heritage mod?
我这人就喜欢开玩笑 6 Aug, 2016 @ 7:23am
作者辛苦了 ,这个mod真心不错,希望能有更多的作品出来,嘿嘿
Eomolch  [author] 17 Jul, 2016 @ 10:36am
Hi fmalfeas, I am very happy to hear this - the mod was made exactly for ppl who can apreciate this new kind of freedom when developing their heroes ;-)
fmalfeas 11 Jul, 2016 @ 10:40pm
So far, this mod has provided me with great amusement, combined with hero development. Like my empire where every hero is a sailor. There's not a lot of water, but I wanted a sailor theme for it.

I also have an all-vampires necro empire that does more diversity with professions, and a draconian fire dragon cult where everyone is a fire dragon heir, and they're about as unpleasant as Smaug on a bad scale day.
Franziskus 26 Jun, 2016 @ 6:34am
:steamfacepalm: Oh, I see. You rather thought this as an Hereos Development Mod Extention. Then of course the current style is more appropriate.
Eomolch  [author] 25 Jun, 2016 @ 2:57am
Btw. you shouldn't forget that powerful classs specialisation upgrades become only available with the higher tiers of that spec, so the profession abilities are always a cheap way to unlock a number of good alternatives since you only need to invest the 2 points for the profession along with the respective level requirements.
Eomolch  [author] 25 Jun, 2016 @ 2:57am
@Franziskus: I must admit that since I always regarded this mod as the hero development mod II and the only reason I didn't implement it as an update of that mod was that I didn't want to force the users of it to also use the racial heritage mod whose skills I needed for this one I have no problem with the professions having less importance than the class specialisations. By that I don't want to say I wouldn't like it if they could get to equal terms, I just see it difficult to accomplish.

You see the problem I am having with your suggestion is that it would actually limit the number of possible combinations (not to mention in a non-intuitive manner: e.g. why should a sailor be able to become a duelist, but not an assassin?) while a big part of the motivation for the two hero mods was to vastly increase the number of possibilities how a hero can be developed. Therefore decreasing that freedom of choice without real need would imho be a big mistake.
Eomolch  [author] 25 Jun, 2016 @ 2:34am
Hey you too, first of all thank you for the suggestions and thoughts. :)

@CaptaiN AngekilL: The problem with profession descriptions is that unlike their specialisation counterparts the profession skills don't follow a ranged/melee/support theme but are chosen according to what would make sense lore-wise for the respective profession. Therefore almost every profession will include useful skills for either melee, ranged, support or even casting heroes and a description could do little to point you in the right direction. The changed attributes are really the most valuable information you can get there unless I was to explicitly list all the upgrades unlocked by the profession. (which you can look up in the pdf documentation of the mod!)
Singularity 22 Jun, 2016 @ 7:51pm
Firstly thanks alot man, I have been using a few of your mods for quite some time and they are great, mods really ressurrected this game for me and your work is a big part of that, thumbs up, great work!
This mod would be greatly improved by a small maybe just a oneline description of each profession in the hero level up screen. Not that it really matters since i pick them anyways, but it just feels a little iffy when picking a profession you pay points to trade points, as in the bonuses and penalties on the first level are equal but you still pay level up points for it.
Franziskus 21 Jun, 2016 @ 1:32pm
…So I thought how that problem (which maybe only is my individual one) could be solved without two much work. The answer is to let hero dev mod skill chain be unlocked by the professions. And in order to sharpen the professions let every profession unlock 2 of the 3 Hero dev mod skill chains. Speaking of the HUMAN race that would mean for example:
the KNIGHT unlocks Assasin I and Duelist I,
the WITCH unlocks Trickser I and Assasin I and
the SEAMAN unlocks Duelist I and Trickser I.

This all just as food for thought.
Franziskus 21 Jun, 2016 @ 1:32pm
…Nevertheless this discussion let me see another possibility to give your mod a greater depth of gameplay. At the moment in the beginning you have the 3 new professions and the 3 skills from hero dev mod. IMO this different sets of skills are almost equal in worth but since the first hero dev mod skills has much more power than the professions I'm afraid that the profession will lose that importance that they should have (at least this is the hero PROFESSION mod, isn't it? )…
Franziskus 21 Jun, 2016 @ 1:30pm
Hi Eomolch,
okay I got your point and since you as the author has the far better overview over the mod I believe you when you say "...but in the long run choosing a profession will always pay off."…..
