Is it possible to create a weapon attachment that gives more attachment slots? It's such an annoying job to have to change the number of attachments for every downloaded weapon manually. This way, all weapons (and maybe even sidearms if you have the upgrade sidearms mod) can get as many attachments as you want!

Does this work properly with Grimey's loot drops? I am wondering because the weapons that I get out of the lockboxes will only allow 3 mods. They come with 3 mods attached, but there is no option to add the 4th mod.

Also, I just installed a mod to DETACH my weapon mods. Here it is:

Now I see that my sniper rifle and cannon (laser upgraded) only allow 2 slots!! The Mag weapons still allow 4. Any idea what is going on there?

Consider it as a new mod.

/.../steamapps/common/XCOM2/XComGame/Mods/ : create a new mod folder and put files inside.

Where exactly do i put the compatability mod for ItWillTakeManyBullets. Does it go in the workshop folder or somewhere else?

@skamikaze : I look at it and I will make as soonn as possible a mod which will permit you to change numbers of attachement.
But I have to warn you, and I dont want to insult to mod creator, but this mod is a little bit dirty.
I dunno if it has fatal consequences, but I prefer to say it.

Check my other mod, which is also more complete. This mod find temlates of vanilla weapons, annd change slots numbers to 4. If its 5+, the UI "eats" the 5th slot, which is not critical but klutz. But it works, with a scroll bar.

Only the dropbox mod permit you to change the # trough an .ini, because ModBuddy rekt updates of this mod.

If I may ask: how does this work? You choose the # of weapon attachments, but is there a maximum amount you can have? You mentioned "Modify UI to allow 5+ attachments", does that mean 4 is the maximum possible? If so, what happens if I try to set it to 5?

The Mod in question is named: ItWillTakeManyBullets and can be found on the workshop.
It adds Tier1 weapons that behave like Tier2 and 3, and Tier 2 that behave like 3. It's all about flavor. The templates it sets up are:

AssaultRifle_CV_MG AssaultRifle_CV_BM AssaultRifle_MG_BM
Shotgun_CV_MG Shotgun_CV_BM Shotgun_MG_BM
Cannon_CV_MG Cannon_CV_BM Cannon_MG_BM
SniperRifle_CV_MG SniperRifle_CV_BM SniperRifle_MG_BM

If you could simply add them in your code, you could make a few people happy. However I'm no expert in this, and I may be wrong.

Basically, moddeds weapons won't work because my fix only affects vanilla weapons.

But if you give me the link of this mod, I will take a look for you.

Hey man I'm having issues with this mod with another mod called ITwill take many bullets which is essentailly conventional weapon beefed up to stats of upgraded rifles.

The default guns still have 4 attachements but the mod guns only have 2 and only 3/4 attachments will carry forward.

I like this mod though when you get the one bonus and it adds 5 slots it makes it look silly in the UI. I would almost make this 3 but then some games you don't get that continent bonus so having 4 is nice. You almost need to tweak this per game if you want to keep it at 4. For that reason I'm going to keep using your dropbox version.

JohnnyFree, unlike the vanilla weapons, the SMG pack mod has its own .ini configuration file that allows you to customize all its stats, including number of weapon upgrade slots for each tier.

you can find the file at Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\577409322\Config\XComLW_SMGPack.ini

can u choose to add attachments on a weapon to weapon basis or does this mod just affect all weapons, i want to just add one attachment to all plasma weapons so you can have 3

New "udpate" incoming : possibility to choose your number of attachements for vanilla weapons trough an .ini.

Thing i dont get is i have changed the SMG to 6 attachement and its fine, only a small UI problem on the sixth attachemnt over laping the name, colour and parrern boxes but you can still click it. Howcome for the normal weapons its a pain to do......

My save was corrupted, but i was able to go back to an earlier one and use that with the new mod. Thankfully not too much time lost.

The only thing is that if you have a save before the old mod, this new mod may works with non-moodded saves

Arg, if you were talking about the old mod... Yes, it corrupts saves. Sorry for this issue, I've didnt make clear the fact that the old mod need to be uninstalled and you need to make a new game, without it. I wasnt able to directly edit the old mod, which has caused the issue.

My last three saves won't work now either. Which is odd since I didn't download this mod in the first place. Tried to load a save, said it was missing so I subscribed, still says it's missing and the save won't load. Wonderful....

Could fix this to work with the Longwar Mod SMG, it works with every other gun, Thanks nice work. I'm guessing you would have to add some code to check for SMG weapon class like you did for the other guns, but is just a guess. As I have not started to play with the Mod Tools yet. :)

one of the best mods for xcom out there :P and when i can deck my gun with 6 attachments my life will be done
