go for it

I've made a configurable version of this for WotC that allows you to add the effect to other abilities (for example, making Musashi's Ballistic Shields protect the unit holding them). Would you be okay with me uploading that (giving full credit for the script?)
Green Raven 7 oct. 2018 la 8:16
Can you confirm this works on WotC?
Thanks for your hard work!

sure

Hello. I've used code from this mod to make my own rework of Shieldwall.
Are you ok if I publish it (full attribution will be obviusly given)?
Redrumm 17 nov. 2017 la 20:52
I've bene using it no crashes on WOTC
Melodic Oak 11 nov. 2017 la 14:27
Does this work with WotC?
Malidictus 11 sept. 2017 la 17:31
Just a random question, but does this work for War of the Chosen? I'm not sure how I would even test for that. It doesn't crash the client, I know that much.

can you make a version that, instead of giving the shield waller heavy cover, instead gives him like, a shield or some temporary DR boost?
Vortex ♀ Pixalation 22 iun. 2016 la 17:29
I looked in the Arcs while making my Ragdoll mod, and I beleive Firaxis has already intended them to act as cover, I believe it has boxes checked for it but I am uncertain
-bg-  [autor] 22 iun. 2016 la 17:24
alive no problem, dead might need some weird hack.
Vortex ♀ Pixalation 22 iun. 2016 la 16:54
I agree with ADVENT Avenger
Juravis 19 mai 2016 la 22:16
Can you make a Turret, dead or alive, count as full cover from all sides, just like if it always uses Shield Wall? That would be a neat addition.

Thank you for this mod too. I do not think i will use this very often.... But it is a nice buff. Some of my spécialists like wearing heavy armor, so perhaps one day... ;-)

ok I have succesfully create cover out of the middle of nowhere, but the problem is that the cover is super unreliable, it sometimes provide cover and sometimes does not, I assume this has something to do with the poition of the destructible. The cover flag of a normal full cover is 0x1101 but the cover I created has a cover flag of 0x0001, resulting in enemies able to flank from the covered side but the person inside the shieldwall is able to hunker down
Persona 3 apr. 2016 la 8:30
Alright. I'm not sure pathing would be an issue if you could just destroy the half cover after the shieldwall goes down, since there'd be a unit in the middle of it, and half cover never blocks line of sight anyhow. But I understand that creating and destroying invisible cover in the middle of nowhere would be difficult.
-bg-  [autor] 3 apr. 2016 la 3:46
I can't because I don't know how to make invisible cover that don't block pathing on runtime, if someone did make a mod with that effect I will definitely learn how to do it and implement it here.

On how to negate the hunter's instinct and bonus aim issues, could you surround the unit with half cover and add 20 defense, instead of just adding 40 defense and... however much crit defense?
Julian Skies 16 mart. 2016 la 14:49
I'm fine with that. I mean, it's not a loss, and i'm certain there'd be people who're willing to give you localization files in other languages. In fact I don't remember whether the game has portuguese or not (I play in english) but I can do that language since it's my native language.
-bg-  [autor] 16 mart. 2016 la 11:25
yes, but then it'd be english only unless I get translations.
Julian Skies 16 mart. 2016 la 4:50
Say, is it possible you change the tooltip on Shieldwall to reflect the existance of this mod? I kept second-guessing myself when using this ability since I did not remember wether I had activated this mod or not.
Mantonio 13 mart. 2016 la 3:51
Is it possible to manually alter the amount of defence given? If so, where in my Steam files would your mod be located?
-bg-  [autor] 11 mart. 2016 la 10:25
depends on how that mod provides critical strikes, if it adds it to the character's flanking crit chance then yes, otherwise no
RussischerZar 11 mart. 2016 la 2:12
If I were to use a mod like the Second Wafe option Absolutely Critical (increased crit chance on flanking), would this mod also negate that additional crit chance?
Insufferable Smartypants 8 mart. 2016 la 9:23
Thanks for this fix.

I remember the first time one of my soldiers was exposed mid-turn, only to be saved my a mec-trooper with this ability in XCOM:EW. It's situational, sure, but it can be a godsend when you need it and you have it.
Gel214th 7 mart. 2016 la 8:11
I haven't used this much in mission, but I always thought it basically made the user unable to be attacked, or significant resistance to being hit, as well as provide a heavy cover "object" for anyone else on your team, blocking Line of Sight appropriate to heavy cover.

Good thing I hadn't started building a squad around this ability then. 0_0

Fuzzyballs01 ꦙ 5 mart. 2016 la 14:57
bunching up your units is stupid in the first place
why would anyone use Shieldwal as an actual cover item?
cjcg000 4 mart. 2016 la 19:29
I really like the buff but I still hesitate to use shieldwall because of grenades :/
Im not sure if anyone else agrees, but imo shieldwall should ideally grant a stasis like effect to the provider while giving cover to squadmates.
Perhaps a cooldown can be added as well(if the aforementioned changes are added) so as to make this not to powerful..
These are my suggestions but either way I am grateful for someone finally buffing this ability :)
-bg-  [autor] 4 mart. 2016 la 18:43
yes
whodashrub 4 mart. 2016 la 18:36
Does it retain the ability to grant Heavy Cover to others too?
Arkan 4 mart. 2016 la 14:36
This Mod can be very handy. Thank you. :ccknight:
-bg-  [autor] 4 mart. 2016 la 14:02
yes, it uses the same value as full cover's defense by reading the same value as full cover, so INI editing will affect this
Vitkar 4 mart. 2016 la 14:01
Nice to see. I never used shieldwall before because it was such a waste.

Does it pull the defense value for full cover? Asking cause I modified that value in the ini.
-bg-  [autor] 4 mart. 2016 la 13:31
no
RhuzCruise 4 mart. 2016 la 13:28
Does this Shieldwall bonus stack with actual heavy cover?
