tyvm for this small but very important overlooked item that should of been part of a recycling plan in vanilla tkom, some ores/minerals are in overabundance to store, so this helps enormously at the refinery point......good job

Thanks for your great addon, I would like to ask you a question, it is possible to create a void barrel that when you see that the tank is full, bone 100 per cent, start downloading, and arrive, say 75 per cent and stop downloading .

Osea would be like an exhaust valve, I give an example since my English is very bad, and you forgive, we have a barrel of 22000 oxygen capacity, and we have put in your exit your barrel void, well the barrel is stopped until it arrives To its maximum capacity, then the void starts to pull, and only when it sees that it drops to a certain amount.

This would make the tanks automated. In a certain amount.

@DHLF This is actually pretty simple to implement, but now I'm stuck with getting a mouse cursor to show. The game decided to crash so I'll wait for Dram to tell me what I'm missing ;)

The new solution simply works like this: Once you "lock" the barrel, it'll stay locked to the first type of resource it receives (just like real barrels), and clicking it again unlocks the barrel. For convenience, there's a clear button as well, to allow for a new resource without unlocking and locking again.

I was looking for a solution of this "automatic" barrel void stuff and have not found anything in the first run.
So I was just about starting modding myself when I found your mod at last.

My suggestion is not urgent, you asked for potential improvements so I wrote them down.
Your mod stays very helpful even with the "risk" of venting valuable resources ;)

@DHLF a different color or model is probably not going to happen, I'm just not good at modelling or texturing, just inheriting the default model. Also, locking to the first material (and unlocking by clicking a button) could be possible, but I just don't have the time to look into that now.

Great! This is a very useful modification.
In mid game of any scenario it was too time consuming to empty those unwanted material barrels.

Some "improvement" suggestions:
Different colored void barrels(like red outline) to identify them easier in the production menu and if they are lying on the ground between other barrels (yes, it says "VOID" if viewed near but..)

I always fear that I would accidently loose the wrong ressource.
Like I want to drop those oxygen, instead it suddenly releases plastics -.-
Maybe you have already implemented that the first used resource will be "voided" :D
If this is already the case and additional identification (name of resource) would be very cool.

I'm using it so I can run the Split Mars Rock II process run, without having to manually empty whatever tank gets the Oxygen every few seconds.

@JuStX2 I've recently played TkOM again, and it indeed seems obsolete now. Besides for the refinery with the lock mod, it might be useful to empty the bigger storage barrels but I don't think that happens often. I'll leave it here just in case.

Thanks to the "Empty Barrel" Function by Holding E while holding a barrel for 1 second - this mod is largely obsolete - as that functionality is now in vanilla - the only thing I could see it being used for is a combo with the refinery lock mod to actually throw out unwanted materials without manual interaction - but like i said it needs the other mod to do that.

why can't i print void barrel in basic (whole) printer ? recipe isn't on list

@gabgab01: It's only the same texture in the 3D printer. It should display "VOID" clear enough on the screen. I'll see if a better 3D model can be added though, but I really s*ck at modelling :steamhappy:

same texture = easy confusion with ordinary barrel = accidentally flush my precious water :(

@veion315 it has the same texture as the resource barrel. You should be able to find it in the 3D printer (afaik I haven't added it to the editor yet).

Can someone please tell me how to use this? I subcribed to it, checked the box in my addons, but i can not find it in the build inventory. Please help. This is something I really need.

@gabgab01 I might look into texturing/modelling later on, it's not something I'm particularly good at.
A video? Why? It's just as simple as attaching the barrel to a slot and it'll be able to infinitely collect items without filling up.

would be cool if it had a black or purple skin to show the "voidness" of it, and maybe a pic/vid on how it works^^ but else this is what i need! no more dumping my waste into the nearest crater! PROTECT MARTIAN WILDLIFE
