I've given the level a rather large overhaul, I made changes that prevent the player getting stuck in the event that this cube bug does occur, and made changes to a couple of areas in the central chamber to prevent a possible scenario in which players could also get stuck

There is conversion gel in this map but it shouldn't be possible to get conversion gel into that room under normal circumstances. How odd.

it's possible it may not be an issue with your map after all. I've encountered a similar problem on a couple of other maps where relfector cubes would move slightly once out of sight, but it only seems to happen when they're placed on a floor covered in conversion gel, can't remember if that was the case in your map or not

That's very odd' I'll open the map in the editor as soon as I get the chance and see if rebuilding it helps.

having a weird bug with this map. randomly the cube from the entrance room will just explode for no apparent reason and the gate will close trapping me in the rooms across the water. presumably it's something to do with the lasers somehow resetting, I ended up using noclip to check on that room and somehow one of the reflector cubes appears to be moving by itself just slightly

My bad. I didn't see the "custom visuals" tag. Sorry about that (same with your other Puzzlemaker maps).

I have no idea.

How/why did this test get tagged for "Custom Visuals"? It's no more than a Puzzlemaker test!

Nice map, not so hard but really enjoyable! ;)
If you want to try my map, here's the link! ;)

Lasers didn't work as you can still shoot portals past them so I added some glass panels across the exit that are only deactivated when the laser puzzle is completed. Hopefully that should stop people accessing the puzzles in the wrong order

The water gel I put in for the sake of cleansing the cube, sometimes when you shoot over the orange gel the cube you carry with you gets covered in blue gel so I put it there in case.

Would you mind shooting a demo of exactly what you did?

With regards to the first chamber, unfortunately I haven't got a clue how to add decals I'll edit the map and slap a laser field over the entrance so that you can't get through until the laser puzzle is completed, oddly enough nobody else seemed to pick that bug up.

Okey first make an arrow in the start just to make sure people go left and not like me storm into the orange gel :) Second i missed the cube and accidently saw it while leaving the room to the left, dont know if you can make it more visible. The water "gel" is useless because of the white gel. I only used the blue gel in the start, so i dont know why you kept it streaming out of the pipe. The button you made to change the direction of the blue beam, i never found the use of that too.

Dont know if i completed this map in a wrong way but i found many thing useless and some i didnt even use. :)

But a good map, take some time to find every cube and there position. Good job

I've posted the video walkthrough now but if you have any suggestions as to how I could make the design better without compromising the quality of the puzzle I'm happy to hear them
Mike Oxlong  [author] 23 May, 2012 @ 10:25am
I'm not going to post the solution here as it would spoil the level for the rest of my players, but I am going to post a walkthrough video to help those that can't solve it. I'm sorry that you had difficulty finding the solution, I guess it's an idea I got from observing how the mechanics of gel painting worked. I hope the walkthrough video when posted will give you a better idea of what I was aiming for here

Nice idea, but the trouble with gels is that if you don't see how to solve the puzzle, it quickly becomes a case of splodgelating paint everywhere. I couldn't see how to get to the vertical funnel myself.
