Heads up for modern users:
The projector is messed up, and the warheads are not armed in the blueprint, meaning it doesnt explode when it hits.
Still pretty cool: I fired it from 30k out, and while there were no real explosions, the wide array of craters was impressive- as was the suprisingly high sim speed throughout.

Still works, but needs rebuilding from scratch tbh... is old and flawed. Think I know where to look for a script like you mention though ;)

@blu | w4stedspace, how about use idea "orbital strike"? Rather than flying to target on land, better is setup sattelite under target and start to produce decoys and warheads and here is 2 options: 1) collect group of decoy, then open hangar and drop all of it and 2) drop immediately to target like a rain of warheads ad decoys. Then we will wait until warheads dropdown to target and destroy it.
So, satellite also will be stay in gravity field and warheads and decoys will use gravity to flying to target.

- and guiding the warheads straight to the target, when it reaches 1000m of the ground level it will sense the ground (set as asteroid mesh) and send a signal to all of the warheads to arm just seconds before hitting the ground, and viola, precise destruction from low orbit! (the reason the warheads were disarmed until just before hitting the ground is basically to prevent them from blowing themselves up due to rogue collisions or terrible sim speed)

hmmm, why not a stationary orbital platform that forces the projectiles into a tight rim pattern towards the planet? you could make a dual stage ship that works like this: the primary section (with all the engines, navigation, warp drive, materials, gravity generator, etc) builds the warheads, each warhead will be equipped with remotes and gryoscopes as well as mass blocks and warheads, some will be equipped with decoys, and all of the warheads will be disarmed during transit, the secondary section of the ship (nose section) will lead these projectiles down its path of descent, using a heatshield to protect its critical components as it does so, it pulls the projectiles towards itself with a spherical gravity generator (affecting a large area but applying just enough gravity to gently tug the warheads closer together like a packed shotgun shell) -

precision ordinance,huh?maybe something with a drill and alot of explosives might work.i once saw LSG penetrate the hull of a ship using nothing but an ion thruster.it was,quick,efficient,and silent.

Was just thinking of trying to build something like this... I am impressed from the video maybe your next missile shold be made to kill D.U.M.B.s. (Deep Underground Military Bunkers) planets present the issue of being able to build km deep and there really is no good device iv seen to kill something that deep might be a good project.

w4sted you could remove the spinning motion of the missile for non-vertical downward editions, instead give the bomb units a forward thruster and one facing down.

Do your death lotus weapons have on-board supplies for making all of those little warheads and decoys? Those small cargo containers don't look like they'd be enough if you tried using these in survival.

If you want to make a ground - air - ground variant of this missile, you should just use the script that the Firestorm Missile uses, not sure who the author of that weapon is, but it's pretty easy to find it on the workshop.

Modern day missiles will fly up into the sky and do a geosynchronous orbit before being "deployed". You could to that with this device by flying up into the sky above a target. Then dropping straight down. Do it high enough and it is hard to tell where it came from. You would need a way to get a "fix" on your target's position though.

Have you ever made one with a cleanup script that causes the warheads self detonate if they do not impact a target within X time. I can see problems on PVP servers where admins have to go around in space master after a battle literally deleting hundred of these little floating warheads that just drifted past their intended target and just kept on sucking up sim speed

How does it work with speed mods? I wanna add this to my arsenal of orbital weaponry, but most of it runs on speed mods to make it more powerful. I've seen ICBM launches go horribly because of them, so can you give me a safe top speed?

@alduin7892 the lotus is a missile for launch, not an orbital platform for continued bombing. It could be made, but it is ment to be a relatively cheap but devestating weapon, and not as complex as most systems.

Hmmm a missile that goes to set set hight above the target. Aligns itself corretctly. Stays hovering in that position above the target without gettting closer. Spins and spams the bombs for a minute. Flys back to base ^_^

I suggest taking this welding/deploying system and strapping it to something to make (In effect) a carpet bomber. this makes the vehicle reusable and after multiple (Possible orbital) passes on a target, you can get the same destruction from a manned and more resource efficient vessle.

Maybe something to play with for fridays stream?
