You could add more traits to it's existing list, then again that would basically be a completely different mod.

I like the idea of this, but I have two thoughts. First, could you make an improved combat synth option? The android armies just feel kind of flat to me. Second, maybe you could modify this to perhaps instead make it possible to use the genetic modification interface to modify robots and droids to upgrade them to synths (one of my games I have a lone robot that never upgraded to synth), and to modify them to different functions. Sort of like the genetic modification thing but with a variety of robotic traits that could be like what you mention above:

Great mod makes robots more usefull but an idea I think would help would be is to have the robot factory provide some engineering research to make it a little more usefull and I think that makes sense.

So I saw a ton of aliens with traits like Protocol Droid and Administrative Robot. They were races of aliens that had those tags as traits. I don't know if that screws over the race and makes them kind of pointless when the only thing they can do is farm or if that trait does nothing and they should be free to do whatever. Just me worrying about the mod. If it's a thing that breaks things then I hope you get it fixed, if it's nothing, then I hope that you fix it anyways because it gives people who see it cold feet. (My game's up to date incase that means anything)

It's not working for me, I was able to build the Robot Factory but the options of building the Farming/Mining/Etc is not showing, it's only showing the vanilla robot/droids. Help.

This is great, but since the factory can't be built on a planet with no administration building, that means I can't send a colony ship with a droid pop, because they can't build more robots and droids after landing.
Perhaps a basic robot factory could have no requrements, just to get a colony started, then the droid factory unlocks after upgrading to an administration?
