Hey This is my favorite mod for democracy 3, It's the main reason I haven't deleted democracy 3 from my hard drive Please consider making one for democracy 4

This is fun to play. Someone make a United Nations or something

This has to be one of the most interesting and in-depth mods I've seen for this game. Most mods are just simple country flag swaps, etc, but this was super interesting. I love the aesthetic provided from the country images and the background stories of them. This mod has its own fictional universe, something that really does set it apart from other mods on the D3 Workshop. It brings the age-old concept of "what if corporations had ultimate control in a post-technology society" that represents the hopelessness of the future quite well. I don't think any D3 mod has made me so immersed and interested in the outcomes of my actions as this mod has.

Great job!

yeah it's really good. I like the abuse
mouseshepherd  [author] 27 Nov, 2018 @ 5:31pm
@wolfredok_garcia It was meant to be a challenge, after all.
Authorofallsin 17 Nov, 2018 @ 5:35pm
This mod is so brutal, too brutal, I have other mods installed to help out and I can't even get re-elected once
mouseshepherd  [author] 20 Jul, 2018 @ 12:12pm
@Kristen I'm not sure what you mean by "text updates". If you're referring to the DLC's then I don't believe that much change is necessary--mods for previous versions of the game should still function (though naturally, the balance may be thrown off or there could be redundancies.)
Kristen Reid 𒈠𒀯𒀯 14 Jul, 2018 @ 9:11am
Hey, sorry to ask this here but given how few mods have been updated for the 'updates' to the game I figured you'd be one of the few people that would know. What has to be done to update a mod to work with all these 'text updates'?
Kuro Max 28 May, 2018 @ 10:18pm
Honestly, one of the best mods I've seen on the workshop for Democracy 3. Nice work!
mmaddog5 25 Apr, 2018 @ 8:14am
Well thank you for responding man! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 24 Apr, 2018 @ 8:03pm
@mmaddog5 Nope. No one has. It's a lot easier to come up with the idea for a mod than to put the effort into building it.
mmaddog5 22 Apr, 2018 @ 10:13am
@mouseshepherd Hey man I have a question has anyone offered to make the zombie senario art yet for you man? I SOOOO want to play that senario! You are so talented and a GREAT designer so if you can do that I would be the first one to subcribe to that mod! Thanks again for listening friend! :D
jeg623 17 Apr, 2018 @ 7:18pm
That's fine then. I probably should just be starting that coup earlier than usual...
mouseshepherd  [author] 17 Apr, 2018 @ 4:17pm
@Principality of Lichenstein The oligarchs are supposed to be a legitimate challenge. However, it makes things harder, but not impossible. I've "won" with either accomodating or opposing the oligarchs in all four scenarios.
jeg623 7 Apr, 2018 @ 10:59pm
It's me again. I still enjoy the mod but the Oligarch Influence factor has made is impossible. This will make me sound impish, but can I suggest just lessening the impact of them? That's what I would have suggested in the first place, but I didn't want to be creatively infringing.
mmaddog5 2 Feb, 2018 @ 11:06am
Thanks man! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 1 Feb, 2018 @ 8:07pm
I'll wait to see if anyone volunteers to help with creating icons.
mmaddog5 1 Feb, 2018 @ 2:36pm
Would you like another idea friend? :D
mmaddog5 1 Feb, 2018 @ 1:59pm
Thank you! Make it so my friend! If you would do that I would thank you very much and be one of the first to sign up for that mod! Thank you for listening friend! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 31 Jan, 2018 @ 5:29pm
mmaddog5 That's an interesting proposal. I suppose that you could treat it as a Situation that would make everyone unhappy, increase crime/violent crime, and would be mitigated by military, science/healthcare, and police armament spending and possibly some harsh decisions (whether to establish quarantines, shoot infected on sight, etc.) I guess you could also add other resulting Situations like Depopulation or Virus Mutating as well. If I could get a volunteer who would be willing to make the in-game icons (which I find technically tedious), then I might be talked into it.
mmaddog5 29 Jan, 2018 @ 4:02pm
@mouseshepherd Hey man! I have a request if anyone wants to back me up on this It would be awesome! How about you do a classic Zombie Apocalipse mod were you try to guide your nation through the chaos and maddness of the Zombie Crisis and it is hard to deal with... Like new policies and ways to handle the rise of zombies that are in the nation! Just an idea! Thank you for anyone who has listened! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 22 Jan, 2018 @ 2:08pm
Principality, I like your idea of "Oligarch Influence" in general, but unfortunately it's difficult to implement in practice. It would be nice if you could multiply their Influence times their disfavor to get certain negative effects, but (to my great annoyance) it doesn't seem that the game engine can handle those sorts of complicated multi-factor multiplicative effects. (Or at least if it is possible, I haven't figured out how to do it.)
As for the machine uprising, I think that might be from another mod, because I haven't implemented anything like robots taking over. If you're referring to the Posthuman Cults, then those you can handle through a mix of either more effective law enforcement and/or reducing the stigmatization of transhumanists (shutting down anti-augmentation riots and augmentation black markets, etc.)
jeg623 21 Jan, 2018 @ 9:05am
I have an idea. What about introducing a new mechanic? It could be called "Oligarch Influence", and could lessen the impact "Oligarch Favor" has. It would make sense, since some nations in this mod, like the Korean Technosocialist Republic, reject or limit their impact on them. Also, if this would also make sense, why not add a permanent way to solve the machine uprisings? Maybe introducing a policy that gurantees them equal rights on par with other citizens. Of course, however, the oligarchs or capitalists would not like this.
erhalex 14 Jan, 2018 @ 6:42pm
I think there the same. Many mod authors leave the link or links in the description. Others leave a link to positech.co.uk modding,if they have a development page. There is an important question that is more convenient to you.
mouseshepherd  [author] 14 Jan, 2018 @ 10:57am
Where would be a good place to host it?
erhalex 13 Jan, 2018 @ 8:36pm
Everything is fine. I understand what the problem is, it's my computer. Don't know what is wrong, but the problem from my side. For the future, can you put a link to mod if you can't install through steam?
mouseshepherd  [author] 13 Jan, 2018 @ 7:46pm
erhalex, I'm rather stumped by that then. No one else has reported any similar problems and I'm not sure where to begin. My apologies.
erhalex 13 Jan, 2018 @ 6:21pm
I have installed many mods. Before that were the same mods that conflict with each other. But this was not. In other matters, I solved the problem. I installed the mod with the game on the laptop of his brother, got it all copied and installed it on my... it worked))
76561198803881120 12 Jan, 2018 @ 3:01am
Once again I apologize. Cyberpunk Mod is not activated. It is not in the game. Not on the list of mods in the game. I can't understand the reason why he had not appeared. And it is impossible to try to set differently?
mouseshepherd  [author] 9 Jan, 2018 @ 6:19am
erhalex I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question.
What do you mean by "fashion"? Which "list" are you talking about?
76561198803881120 9 Jan, 2018 @ 1:54am
I signed up but fashion is not in the list, as well as new policies with the countries. Does anyone know what's the problem? Sorry for my English.
mouseshepherd  [author] 8 Jan, 2018 @ 8:15pm
Principality, every policy which makes the Wealthy (and to a lesser extent Capitalists) happy, also makes the Oligarchs happy, with Tax Shelters and Foreign Investor Tax Breaks especially pleasing to them. (So long as they don't have to pay taxes, the Oligarchs don't really care that much about something so petty as your little government, though they're willing to lend a hand through Megacorp Cybersecurity Contracts.)
On the other extreme, you COULD just Assert Sovereignty, all the way to launching a Coup, so that you don't have to worry about them--if you can muster up the political capital. For a more minor rebellion you could try Opposing their Shadow Wars and stop turning a blind eye to their criminal escapades.
There are a lot of ways to deal with the Oligarchs, but dealing with them is always complicated. Do you have any suggestions for other courses of action to take with them?
jeg623 8 Jan, 2018 @ 3:07pm
I think the Oligarch Favor mechanic could use some love. Because of them, I'm constantly ousted from office. Could you think of adding some new policies that could be used toward placating them?
mmaddog5 13 Nov, 2017 @ 11:27am
Thanks man! If you get a oppertunity to in the future I would be the first to subscribe to it! Thank you for the vote of confidence my friend! I LOVE you mod man! Thank you for making it! Have a great day man! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 13 Nov, 2017 @ 9:19am
@mmaddog5 Thanks for your vote of confidence, but unfortunately I don't have the time to build such a mod these days--but you could always try building it yourself. There are some good modding tutorials for the game and it's fairly straight-forward. Most of the mechanics are handled through spreadsheets, so as long as you can work those (and honestly, it's a skill everyone should know in the 21st century), you can build it. I have confidence in you.
mmaddog5 10 Nov, 2017 @ 7:00pm
I have confidence in your abilities friend! It would be AWESOME if you did! Just ask some of your friends and fans if they would like to see it! I have confidence in your ablities dude! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 10 Nov, 2017 @ 6:55pm
@mmaddog5 That would be pretty tricky. I suppose that you could treat integrating new countries as something of a variation on Immigration, actually, and I believe that there's already at least one war mod, so that could be used. Actually making it interesting and sufficiently different from the rest of the game sounds hard, though.
mmaddog5 10 Nov, 2017 @ 2:24pm
As a fan of this game and I can tell you are a talented person my friend I would like to start a popular request by saying this... What if somone started a world unity mod... with events and everything! Choices and laws to unite the world either through war of Globalization as more nationation are brought in through war or peace the game gets more difficult and rewarding as the more issues spring up! Supreme ruler 2020 style! Anyway just a thought for anyone who wants to listen! Thank you for listening my friends! :D
mouseshepherd  [author] 2 Nov, 2017 @ 4:39pm
@Rune Trantor You can effectively retake the country via the "Assert Sovereignty Policy." And I've managed to get stable, pleasant places after doing so--but it's very hard.
@Opos Yes, assassination is a very real threat, especially if you anger the oligarchs. You could always turn off assasinations if you don't like them.
Derek 28 Oct, 2017 @ 11:40am
it seems too easy to get assinated. Almost no matter what I do its complete luck if I survive, and I can't do much in security to help myself as alomst no matter what I'm on useless
Rune Trantor 26 Oct, 2017 @ 12:30am
Can you wrangle control of the city/nation from the megacorps? (I imagine the other two we can since they are more criminal)

And can we turn the whole thing into a happy place, even if not full utopia? (I see there's a policy to say 'screw whats left of the environment' but can I like do the opposite? Revert the damage and make my nation the one lovely place of Earth?)
mouseshepherd  [author] 22 Oct, 2017 @ 10:41am
@ Spreadable Cheese No problem! And you shouldn't feel stupid; all of the details can be rather complicated. I'm just glad that you were able to get it to work.
Spreadable Cheese 22 Oct, 2017 @ 8:38am
@mouseshepherd Thank you! I feel monumentally stupid, haha. Thanks again :)
mouseshepherd  [author] 21 Oct, 2017 @ 6:52pm
@Spreadable Cheese You also need to have the Extremism DLC enabled, as that's where the Armed Religious Communities situation comes from. (The Social Engineering DLC is similarly necessary.)
Spreadable Cheese 21 Oct, 2017 @ 10:18am
@mouseshepherd I thought that might be the problem, but after disabling all other mods apart from this one, and the Clones and Drones, I still have the problem. It also happens when I attempt to play as vanilla countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the game to no avail.
mouseshepherd  [author] 20 Oct, 2017 @ 12:50pm
@Spreadable Cheese that is strange. It would imply that the Armed Religious Communities aren't properly being loaded in association with the (custom) Anti-Augmentation Riots event. I'm not sure why that would be. Are you playing with any mods that would eliminate or alter Armed Religious Communities or would have a duplicate of AntiAugRiots?
Spreadable Cheese 15 Oct, 2017 @ 11:49am
Mouseshepherd, whenever I load any of the four scenarios, I get the following error message: "Failed to find ArmedReligiousCommunities for AntiAugRiots,:src\SIM_Neuron.cpp 356" - Am I doing something wrong?
mouseshepherd  [author] 13 Oct, 2017 @ 4:56pm
@HACKERMAN I don't have one, but I would be happy to upload it to one. Where would you suggest?
HACKERMAN 10 Oct, 2017 @ 10:33am
Hey, do you have a manual download link for this mod anywhere? I can't seem to get it to download through the steam workshop but it looks really cool and i'd love to try it.
mouseshepherd  [author] 10 May, 2017 @ 8:00pm
That's extremely strange. I loaded it up again just to make sure (it's been so long!) and it's still working for me. It should be Cascadian Confederacy, NAF, KTSR, and Novgorod in that order, so I'm confounded as to why it's not showing up on yours. Do you have any other mods active (aside from the necessary DLC's)?
