Bretonia spearman already come with spearwall in vanilla.
I can't update the mod as I don't own the last DLC's to this TW entry.

I am sorry, I cannot update the mod as I don't own the last dlc's , i do not play TW:Warhammer anymore and they changed quite a lot of things in the files since I made my mods.

I am not playing the game anymore and it seems that the files used for mods changed quite a lot since I created those mods.
I am not intending to edit my mods anytime soon.

This mod does not work, in the unit description it does not have expert charge defesne and when I tested it out in custom battle the unit took the same losses in the same amount of time as unmodded. Update will be much appreciated

If radious is modding spearmen there are great chances that it will be incompatible.

It wouldnt be the hardest thing to do, but it would be harder than what I did here.
You would need to make a proper icon, to create a group for abilities and to edit units to get attached to that group.
TW:Warhammer is pretty easy to mod comparred to many other games though.
Maybe its the easiest game to mod (quite possibly).

What about an abiltiy like shield wall (dwarfs have in the TT)? So their mass increases but they can't charge at all? Obviously there's no shield wall animation

How hard would something like this be to mod in?

Yes it would work, but it would also make them efficient at charging themselves. Which would pretty much make them imbalance.
What the game needs is a massive thoughtfull overhaul.

Also, there might be another solution. Straight from previous Total War games, and notably Rome 2 (which physics was a bit different from other titles).
Add a new ability to every infantry unit:
When activated -x% speed, +x% mass.
This is exactly how Rome 2 is handling pikes.

ah i see. I been looking for something to make dwarfs stand up to charges so enemy cav doesn't just go straight through your units to the missiles behind. Random question if the units mass of the dwarfs is increased would that work? I downloaded the modding tools for that exact purpose but don't really know what to do with them

No, it doesn't change physics. What you are refering to would still happen because of units masses.
What this mod does is add the brace mechanic to spearmen against infantry units.

Does this physically stop the charge or does the cav still go through the unit? I mean is this just some extra charge defence against large or will it actually effect what happens to the unit when it gets hit?
