@Jensoo just downloaded this back and found it again. About the 2018 reply, True. It would make a traffic mess, which is realistic hahahah

@Hars: Yeah, the highways on the island are a bit overscaled. There are only "normal" roads actually. Deleting these and only keeping the highway entrance in the West however probably will cause enormous traffic issues because everything will concentrate on a single road.

i was there once!

What I first did to solve the traffic issue was to remove both outside connections in the island, after all, Florianopolis has only one way in and out and that is the one connecting it to the main land; And, if there's nothing built there, there should'nt be that much traffic.
The map looks great though, I've been to this cities about a dozen times and it is really accurate.

I was wondering if anyone manage to remake all the streets just like real; That way we could deal with a more accurate traffic issue. It would be awesome.

:D I was just gonna say, you could do the trick that I had to end up doing when playing on New Caledonia - running a second bypass highway underneath because all the connections feed into that one highway that comes into the start square. What a traffic headache! That's the map where I discovered this. So, yes, if it becomes a bother you can do that, or else you can see the management of the traffic congestion as a natural challenge for your map, which makes game play much more interesting!

@MrMiyagi: Thank you! This means much to me as I am a big fan of your work! :) Thank you for your explanations. I understood everything you said. :) I already created some maps before this one - maybe it was just a coincidence I never built this kind of constellation before. Or the traffic distributed better after I started building my cities.

However I started building Florianopolis in the meantime. It has 40k inhabitants now and traffic flow is still OK. I think it is quite acceptable to have some red coloured highways as that doesn't always mean traffic jam but heavy usage of the route. It also contributes to the "factor of realism". :) Maybe I'll try adding a tunnel under the strait to have a second connection. I will see in the progress of city building.

Thank you again for your reply. :)

It should be just as much fun and rewarding a map to have just two connections, and even then it will still be a challenging map traffic wise. Hope that helps!
MrMiyagi 31 Aug, 2016 @ 7:57am
Okay I opened it up.. first of all, amazing work! Looks like a fun map! So, yes indeed the four highway connections joining into one highway from end to end are causing your traffic woes. Basically you have four times the amount of traffic than there should be. Your best bet is to probably reduce the number of incoming highway connections to two, one on each end, because of the game's mechanics. Even if you create bypasses like on Perth, they will still probably choose going through your city over the bypasses because it's pretty much the shortest distance possible between the two pairs of connections. Did that make any sense I hope?
This is why I make some places with fantasy extra highways or leave some out despite complaints that it's not accurate to the real location :D

HOLY COW!!! This is beautiful work here!! :)

@iurig29: thank you very much for your input and your huge ass text! :) quite interesting facts. The original Oktoberfest is in Munich, that's correct. Although I knew about different places on earth also celebrating Oktoberfest I didn't know that was also so popular in this region. :)

PS: I sent you a friend request.

Huge ass comment episode 2 the attack of the 999 characters limit

Also since you plan in visiting Santa Catarina and/or Florianopolis I also recommend visiting towns such as Blumenau that has very , very strong German influence since it was founded by Germans , and now some facts about Blumenau , thanks to frequent floodings in the area , during the 19 century the city's governors decided to make and Oktoberfest to raise funds to help rebuild the town and now the Oktoberfest tradition is very strong in Blumenau and it actually is the second biggest oktoberfest in the world only losing to the original oktoberfest in Germany (if I'm not mistaken the number 1 is the one in Munich).
Also if you wish to know more stuff my country and state feel free to add me up on steam and ask whatever you feel like asking.

Ps have a nice morning/day/evening
Ps Ps sorry for bad english
Ps Ps Ps sorry for the huge ass texts

Huge comment part 1
Hey man nice job , since you asked for it I shall translate the comments from top to bottom , hope it helps!

Leandro.evga says: "cool man!! Also made one (one probably referring to a Florianopolis map) check it out on my items."

HerrDutra says: "Very good."

Also , just because you seem to like Floripa (Floripa being the cool way of saying Florianopolis) I'll give you some information about it and about the state of Santa Catarina in which I reside.
Florianopolis means: Land of Floriano , Floriano being one of the most important people in Brazilian history , since he was one of the key persons to install the Republic in Brazil. Although the city was originally called "Ilha de Santa Catarina" (Island of Saint Catarina , Santa Catarina being the name of the best state in Brazil and the state in which Floripa is the capital) and then after some time it was named Desterro because of a saint called Nossa Senhora do Desterro and then finally it was named Florianopolis.

@Tigs66: No problem. I come from a city near Frankfurt, Germany. :) I liked the landscape of the city in google maps. The whole city is created by terrain party and the satellite pictures ofgoogle maps. I've never been in Florianopolis before - but now I would really like to go :)

@Jensoo Why did you decide to make this map ? I'm curious , because it's my hometown and the map is very, very accurate, and thx for this beauty !! Sorry about the other comment , I really thought you lived in Florianopolis and speak portuguese.
Jensoo  [author] 27 Jul, 2016 @ 8:23am
Hey guys! Unfortunately I don't speak Portugese. Can somebody please translate the last comments? :D Google translator isn't really helpful this time.
