It seems I got lucky. I was able to figure out your coding & made a jeep recovery mission.

I poked around a little further & think I found the problem in mission #8. The low framerate is due to a pathing problem at the outpost. It conflicts with the bunker.

Mission #4: The animation sequence for the squad to enter the helo has them running through the bunker. There seems to be holes in the in the collision model of the bunker & they get hung up in the bunker.

Mission #11: Same problem as #4, just not as frequently, as he is is a single unit.

If you could add me as a friend, it would be greatly appreciated, as there is more to explain.....

To be honest, without SQF coding skills, none of the missions is particularly easy to change. I haven't looked at the details in ages, but I doubt that boat to jeep would be particularly easy.

I am not a coder, so I can't comment. Just that I haven't had any problems or errors pop-up.

I tried mission making a few years ago, but just got frustrated.

I gather " cruft " is a typo.

Speaking of coding, in the recovery mission, that can be easily changed from boat to jeep ???

Yes, the missions are pseudo-randomized. E.g. there are a number of locations randomly picked, though the locations number is limited.
The 8 other missions should be cruft from the arma 2 version of this mission, which was on VTE :) Feel free to poke around to get them going, though I'm afraid the SQF I coded is a bit terrible to use ...

Thanks for the update.

Two questions about the missions ??

It appears the same mission ( say crash recovery ) has the jeep & crew positioned at random locations for pickup and/or troop reinforcements delivered to random locations. Is this correct ??

Poking around in the editor, I noticed there were 16 missions available, but only 8 of them are functioning.

Does the mission pool cycle them active or do they have to be un-commented to be activated ???

The name of the helipad is "BasePosStart".

Examining the mission revealed that the helo blades are lower that the light fixture at the top of the light pole. There are two of them on either side of that helipad creating a very narrow area if you try to land on the marker.

Land 15m to the side of that helipad in the open area guarantees a mission complete

All too well. Lots of memories.

I have the Khe Sanh mission.

Commander tells me to get a helo.

When I climb in as pilot, I am assigned to pick up some troops near the base. But I do not get any amber visual diirection & distance clue.

For some reason the task marker ( hand scribbled ) is white when displayed on the map. I cannot get any interaction with it. I land the 47 next to the troops at the edge of the grove of trees, but they do not get aboard.

Will have to experiment some more with it......

Ha ha, you remember the workhorse legacy! For the Chinook I have the random helo transport mission on Khe Sanh where you can pick any helo. Albeit the mission is a bit heavy on CPU, too many AI running around eventually.

The one on the hill { Camp Sarge } is fine. It is just that the placement of the invisible helipad between the entrance bunker with a light pole & the raised psp starting pad position is too narrow.

If I remember correctly, that area was used for a barrel drop.

I found out from another game, that the collision models usually extend past the graphic edges of some objects, like trees. I hate shooting trees.

Placing the RTB marker/helipad on the raised platform should alleviate the problem.

The number & diversity of missions is what makes this my favorite mission. There is enough ambiance of tracer fire & air traffic to draw you right into the mission.

The only thing I find missing is not being able to pilot the missions in the Chinook. Then we can bring back the jeep with the crew.

Hi Grey, thanks for the feedback! Should I make the RTB helipad the base helipad or the one down the hill? Both are easier to land on, basically I made the smaller area the RTB base for an additional challenge.

It only took 4 years, but I finally got the mission to finish with a successful completion. I was able to complete the missions, but on returning to base the helicopter would crash. Just couldn't get a successful mission complete.

Today, I landed about 15m away from the designated area. Voila !! " Mission success "

It seems where you have the " RTB helipad ", the area is too small. The main rotor has problems clearing the collision models from one of the nearby objects.

It is a great mission for those players who want to hone their flying skills.

It's fully scripted, so if you know SQF it's fairly easy to make. If you want to remove the sling loading tasks, you can edit Functions\Main.sqf and comment out Mission12.sqf, Mission14.sqf and Mission15.sqf. Good luck.

Mission played great, it was my first sling loading ever in arma and it went smoothly, loved it !

Thanks a lot for this missions, I'd like to play other Unsung Helo missions from you if you ever produce any. Great Job, thanks for the fun !

I am getting an error message now and cannot access the missions at all. I am getting "steam\_cur_sp.DaKrong\mission\entities\item97.type: Vehicle class CBA_main_require no longer exists" . I tried to run it with CBA loaded, and when I do, I can get into the map. However, I am given no missions. Ill keep fooling around with it to see if I can figure anything out. Thanks for the help.

For now I disabled the sling loading missions, reduced fog by 50% and fixed some script errors. We've identified the sling load problem of the UH-1D and will update it in a later patch to Unsung.

Mission is broken i believe. For no reason, every time, my tail rotor breaks and I fail the mission. It's not shot off, its not from crazy flying......it just breaks and I lose.

No idea right now, but I haven't checked the mission after the arma 3 1.72 update. I'm currently travelling and it will take several weeks before I can do any testing probably.

Hi, unfortunately I can't get the mission to start. Unsung is loaded and I have Chickenhawk in the scenario's list but when I select it and press 'Play' nothing happens (other than the background image of the scenario selection screen appears to change). Any ideas what's causing that?

There's no way to change the weather in mission, but you can do that from the Eden Editor.
