I'm surprised no one has ported this concept over to Civ 6 yet.
Lucius, the Heavenly Dragon 19 Aug, 2019 @ 2:31pm
Any progress on the removal of GnK for the requirements for this mod?
Alchemik123444 5 Jun, 2019 @ 10:52pm
I recommend you make the thing spit out like 3 steel per iron BUT also make it use coal, since steel is made of iron and coal. 1 coal 1 iron for 3 steel is pretty good i think. Or just make itbuse coal and iron to make steel
Venusaisha 19 Sep, 2017 @ 2:28am
ok thanks :steamhappy:
SamBC  [author] 19 Sep, 2017 @ 1:49am
Last time I tested the mod, it worked fine. I don't think there's been any updates to the game since then.
Venusaisha 18 Sep, 2017 @ 12:38pm
it been a while, are ur mods and this mod updated to 2017 and so? or that won't count since last time game been patched?:Diplomat:
Fry McFly 10 Mar, 2017 @ 7:22am
So why add a new resource if its not necessary? Why not just add the iron requirement to more units?
Venusaisha 31 May, 2015 @ 1:58am
no 3d land yet.
Venusaisha 31 May, 2015 @ 1:57am
i got em thou sort on money right now, aim to get new computer and bills are pain. 3d can be costly too.
Venusaisha 31 May, 2015 @ 1:55am
unless ye get smart tv samsung that connects to a blue ray/dv smart thing, along with hdmi cables n internet connection. but thats techno genuis stuff. then u might get to 3d landish sort lol
Walker 16 Jan, 2015 @ 3:52pm
oh ok. thanks.
SamBC  [author] 16 Jan, 2015 @ 8:26am
No, there's no need for 3D art. I mean, literally, there's nowhere in the design for this mod that any 3D art would go.
Walker 15 Jan, 2015 @ 5:19pm
is there 3d art for this?
Dark 30 Sep, 2014 @ 9:51am
can you make a bronze mod like this for early troops
GENERAL PUTIN 12 Sep, 2014 @ 7:14am
shows up as coal o you have to place a mine on it to get some steal
Hammurabi 5 Sep, 2014 @ 2:40pm
Update: also happening with another mod that adds a resource, your mod is working fine.
Hammurabi 5 Sep, 2014 @ 2:15pm
Causing a crash when https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=274139242 and its dependencies are installed :(

This is my favorite mod, please look into this.
SamBC  [author] 7 May, 2014 @ 3:49pm
It ought to, but I've never tested it hard. The AI code for handling resources is pretty flexible, though.
jpinard 7 May, 2014 @ 2:21pm
Does the AI handle this mod OK?
SamBC  [author] 23 Mar, 2014 @ 3:16pm
Due to a limitation in the mod dependencies system, it won't work if you have BNW but not G&K, IIRC.
JimboVT 23 Mar, 2014 @ 5:02am
I like the idea but it doesn't show up in my mods when I open Civ 5. I am running BNW version 1.0.3.144
musics_best 8 Mar, 2014 @ 6:47pm
true, but I was trying to keep it simple for the game
SamBC  [author] 28 Feb, 2014 @ 11:46am
Actually, iron is usually smelted with coal (coke, really), even when it's not steel. It's alloyed with high-purity carbon to make steel, but that carbon can come from any source. It can be high-quality charcoal.
musics_best 28 Feb, 2014 @ 11:40am
chemically speaking, steel is iron smelted with coal - perhaps adjust this mod to reflect that?
Venusaisha 19 Dec, 2013 @ 3:49pm
awesome
Anders Matthias 20 Oct, 2013 @ 5:10am
i hope you'll enable it to vanilla soon! your idea is really good.
ElanaAhova 1 Sep, 2013 @ 6:29am
I really like this mod idea. Might you, dear modder, make a mod combo pack that adds this, the skyscrapers, and the many otehr mods that modify resources, add buildings that use/modify the resources, and the units / buildings that consume the ''modified' resources. Being a builder, I like pllanning infrastructure, etc., in my cities. (prefer tall style)
SamBC  [author] 22 Jul, 2013 @ 4:48am
DCG_Anubis: I haven't tested, but I haven't found any reason it shouldn't work.
DCG_Anubis 22 Jul, 2013 @ 2:18am
Does it work i BNW
Fierysaint 18 Jul, 2013 @ 5:59am
Oh I understand. But at least it is possible. Headache away my friend!
SamBC  [author] 18 Jul, 2013 @ 5:51am
In G&K, there is a place in the gamedata database to make buildings produce a resource. This doesn't exist in Vanilla. Making a building produce a resource in Vanilla is a headache.
Fierysaint 18 Jul, 2013 @ 5:06am
Yes, please make this work for vanilla. It seems simple enough. I'm so sick of reading a real great mod, then finding out it only works for G&K. It just makes me want to punch a hole thru my computer screen! Not everyone has the money for expansions. Rise above these other idiot modders and make it work for vanilla. Please.
Don Parmesan 9 Jun, 2013 @ 2:56pm
its great that i can finally use that iron i had for centuries!
Jaedrik 2 Jun, 2013 @ 7:32pm
Dude! This is awesome! . . . too bad I only have Vanilla :(
I really should get G&K.
wolfdreamer 18 May, 2013 @ 3:00pm
cant get mod to show up in mod menu
SamBC  [author] 13 May, 2013 @ 2:42am
MegaBearsFan: should do.
MegaBearsFan 12 May, 2013 @ 10:01pm
Do the units that require Steel (i.e. tank) also still require oil?
patch.03 27 Mar, 2013 @ 9:56pm
Please make for vanilla !!!!!!!!!!! :)
SamBC  [author] 26 Mar, 2013 @ 11:27am
Yes, though possibly not terribly intelligently. All the relevant flavours are set, so the AI knows about them, and (unless I messed up) this stops the AI from ever considering Iron worthless.
kongkim 26 Mar, 2013 @ 9:19am
Do the AI use it and you building mod?
BLÀde 21 Jan, 2013 @ 5:10pm
this mod crashes my game in around 80 turns it happens every-time i activate this mod.
SamBC  [author] 29 Dec, 2012 @ 2:06pm
You can build more with it if you install my Skyscrapers mod as well.
SamBC  [author] 14 Dec, 2012 @ 2:18pm
It requires Gods & Kings... I haven't managed to make it work without it.
SnowyMoose 14 Dec, 2012 @ 1:32pm
i cant get it it says it is missing required dependencies
DCG_Anubis 26 Nov, 2012 @ 12:59pm
yeah i had the skyscraper mod to.. but nice work
SamBC  [author] 26 Nov, 2012 @ 12:57pm
Yeah, this is the problem I've been having, and trying to balance it with the Skyscrapers mod in mind as well. I've been busy with other stuff lately, but I'll try and find time to revisit this.
DCG_Anubis 26 Nov, 2012 @ 12:55pm
cant you only have one steel mill per city? that was my problem i produced 2 steel per city and needed more
SamBC  [author] 26 Nov, 2012 @ 12:42pm
You can build as many steel meels as your iron will support, but yeah, it's difficult to work out how many units could require it with the right balance of having enough steel, and not making steel a non-problem.
DCG_Anubis 26 Nov, 2012 @ 12:38pm
ive just played a game with this mod.. and really like it but i think u should at the steel requirement to Battleship, Carrier, Missile Cruiser and both Submarines.. Maybe to the Modern Armor, Mech Infantry too but that would require more steel i had 22 iron to spare when the game ended my steel mill produced 2 steel...
SamBC  [author] 3 Oct, 2012 @ 9:05am
@PH03NIX96: It's not possible to do it in a straightforward way for Vanilla, as the ability to have buildings produce resources was added in G&K.
