fun map. I disagree with SpielSatzFail. The solution shouldn't fully depend on player experience (e.g. hints), It should be a logical series of steps to get to an outcome. I think that this map is well designed because of the simplicity of the layout and the logical progression of moves. I like how you made the player 'think outside of the box' and reuse the elements in interesting and unique ways.
SpielSatzFail 24 Jun, 2022 @ 11:33pm
I don't like that puzzle since it depends heavily on that one move (0:55 in the video). That move is completely different than all the others you can try because it happens at a whole different area, and there's not a slight hint at it. The "ground moves" get more and more confusing the more you try and the less you see the alternative. I knew the bridge/cube constructions had to be stabilized without portals, but how on earth... I thought the design would give a hint in terms of junctions (90° light bridge crossings) or laser/bridge combinations, but no.
To me knowing the solution is not enlightening or even rewarding in hindsight. It's just... "why???".

The hard part is that there are a lot walls you can shoot, it makes me think there are a lot possibilities but actually there is only one.

fun one and challenging

Funny solution since all items indicate that bootstrapping lasers and bridges would be relevant in the second half of the map too.

Grreat map. Had me going for longer than I care to say. Thanks!

Excellent!

Didn't take me that long, only had to play around a little bit to find the solution again. I solved your updated version of this map, "Trenches", not too long ago so that's likely why lol. Very clever as always. Keep it up.

After sitting down with a clear head this puzzzle came together peice by peice. Sequental reasoning.

I have to admire anyone that can create masterful and fun maps that perplex and give such enjoyment upon resolution. kudos!

I completely understand. by the way all your other maps are great and have been driving me mad trying to slove them, keep up the good work and i look forward to more.

Alex: I'm aware of this, but the editor file has been lost. I'm planning on completely remaking this chamber to fix the issue, but it takes time.

This is a great test, but its very unforgiving. the cube dropper button only lets you press it once before it gets stuck (i know you dont really need to press it at all, but still) and the glass wall needs a fissler so you can get to the other side without the possiblilty of getting stranded

Yea me!

Holy Capital S this took me forever. Few feelings as sweet as overcoming a substantial challenge. Thank you.
DaZy 24 Jan, 2013 @ 12:56pm
This one took some thinking. Thanks for the great map.

Thanks, everyone, glad people are enjoying this puzzle!

Holy hell, this was amazingly clever. I feel really bad for having to watch the solution for the first part :( in hindsight, i think i couldn't have figured it out, not today for sure.. it annoyed me too much to think straight. But at least solving the second half was satisfying :) Very nice tricks there.

Switching the two lazers was quite a great algorithm.

great map. I didn't solve it properly - my way was harder than the real way which I just saw on youtube...
AgentFire 6 Dec, 2012 @ 11:17am
Solved in.. two days. Omg how i did not see that simple solution before.. I have tried so crazy things and thoughts like "almost, almost did it" was coming to me ech time i did something like throw cube in the air and while it reflects laser to the catcher i reportal 2-3 times... and yet, the solution in simple. Love ya, azora.
KennKong 4 Dec, 2012 @ 11:57pm
This is a shining example of good puzzle design. I got stuck on the very last step, switching the lightbridge to the exit, by firing the wrong color portal. For some reason, the button for the laser cube on the entrance wouldn't work, even though it had worked before.
Pomko 4 Dec, 2012 @ 4:09pm
I bumbled around on this for like 15 minutes, then when I got frustrated and started playing around I solved it near instantly. I had to replay just to figure out what I even did. Interesting how that played out.
Sveldte 21 Nov, 2012 @ 3:48pm
At first I was like "wow I can't do this", but an hour later after solving it, I was like "Azorae you crafty bastard." Solving this one was really satisfying, really nice use of retreading and laser switching.
gaden002 2 Nov, 2012 @ 1:23pm
Very well done, you could see what you needed to do, but had to figure out the proper order to do them. I like maps that use crirical thinking, not pure timing and speed.
Azorae  [author] 1 Nov, 2012 @ 3:29pm
I had planned to implement something like that, but I lost the original workshop file. I'll try to find a way to fix it, thanks.
LPChip 1 Nov, 2012 @ 2:18pm
Very good map. Clever techniques used as puzzle mechanism, yet its clear what to do.

The only complaint I'd have is that it can be a bit hard to jump over the gaps with a cube in your hands. You might want to place some grating or so at places so you can walk across the gaps more easily, like at the far ends.
Gigo 28 Oct, 2012 @ 11:41am
Oh that was easier than I thought, even though I may have done it incorrectly.

The only thing i can say-- how... HOW a HUMAN BEING can think of this?! Pure Genius! PURE GENIUS! I bow in front of you!
NiclO (- - ) 14 Oct, 2012 @ 12:54pm
Great map! That took me so damn long to figure out. Just went back and forth for like 30 mins before I figured out the last part of the puzzle. Very satisfying, thank you!
Akiva 29 Sep, 2012 @ 4:52pm
no, i looked at the video. What I did was at 0:21, after I got past the glass (still on the bridge), I shot my portal on the first side of the glass, shooting the laser into the receiver on the other side. Then I got my second cube and redirected that laser into the receiver on the first side (shooting at a weird angle).
Azorae  [author] 28 Sep, 2012 @ 9:37pm
That's part of the intended solution, if I'm reading it correctly
Akiva 28 Sep, 2012 @ 2:39pm
You know how you can shoot a laser out of the platform that the first cube is on into a receiver? I think that you should put the part of the laser that's past the glass behind a pane of glass (perpendicular to the main border) to prevent cheats.
Akiva 27 Sep, 2012 @ 7:32pm
Slightly cheated on this one, but it involved shooting the laser at a weird angle from the room-of-the-laser-catcher-that-activates-the-lightbridge-you-use-to-get-to-the-end (it's a little recessed) to the laser receiver on the first side of the glass, but I wasn't too far off!

You have a nice collection of chambers. I have been through them all. I am leaving my comment on this page becuase this one had me stumped. I had to walk away clear my head. Becuase I was over thinking it. Job well done. You need more like this.
Geneosis 21 Jun, 2012 @ 9:20am
This map was really cool ^^ A bit hard and challenging, the mechanism with light bridges and laser cubes is clever ;)
XLR8br 31 May, 2012 @ 12:05am
Great map! It was a bit more tricky this time. http://youtu.be/uGYRq24y5Yc
