@lfairban Most likely if you're bringing it up.

Great puzzle with a tricky ending move. That is assuming I solved it correctly.

FIZZLERS!!!

I also added some fizzlers near the exit.

Updated:

The button was not set up for the cube to respawn even though it was intended to. That has been fixed now. I also added that grate that I talked about.

1. Sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant the second ledge, the one that's closest to the exit. Does the button respawn the cube? I checked and it seemed single use. Might be that I blanked for a second.

2. Might be more prudent to take out the gel, keeps the flow of the test going if you can get the cube up to you quicker.

3. can see that being a bit of a problem yeah. Although that solution isn't very well telegraphed in my opinion because A. I imagine most players don't know about how gel interacts with the exit door. B. my first instinct was to just toss it, rather than bounce it. Or try to time my journey across the funnel so that I could switch portals and get the cube on the button.

2. Noted, I can put a grate from the ceiling to block the funnel before it reaches the island.

3. This one is tricky as the intended solution is to paint the exit door blue then use the funnel to bounce the cube into the second funnel towards the button. The first part of the test teaches you this idea. Because the trajectory of the cube is a set thing, I can't change the placement of the button.

1. The button you first press to get the cube to drop at the beggining of the chamber does reset the cube. For the cube to get stuck on the ledge with the exit you must have pressed the button halfway through the chamber to activate some panels. Once those panels are activated you can make a shortcut to the second level in front of the entrance by dropping blue gel on a pair of lights I placed on the floor (if you notice I use a lightstrip pattern to hint where blue gel can be placed) you can then jump into the funnel via the gel and portal directly above to the room with the exit door, preventing you from having to redo the first half of the map.

1. It's possible to make the test impossible by funneling the cube across the acid and having it get stuck on the ledge adjacent to the exit. Adding a way to respawn the cube would solve that.

2. There's an island in the middle of the acid section near the first ledge, implying that you're supposed to bounce the cube across, this is not needed. You can use the funnel easily enough.

3. You can toss the cube from the exit ledge into the funnel leading to the button. I assume this is unintended.

I like this test a lot, the way it's designed encourages a clear progression of the player's movement despite it being quite large and open. I especially like that the funnel is accessible throughout the whole test so it's very rare that one has to reset their progress to find the funnel again. I especially like how you get to the exit with the combo gel and funnel, that was fun. I've catalogued a couple unintended solutions and other sundry problems I found throughout the test. Luckily in my estimation all of them should be easy enough fixes. (Needs a separate comment due to character count)

I also added a fizzler near the cube dropper so you can reset the cube if it gets painted during the last bit of the test.

Alright I updated the map a bit. I changed the alcove area so the puzzle is different there. There's a grate that will keep you from being pushed over the goo. The only way I can see getting stuck is if you were to jump into the orange funnel then kill the cube, but I don't think the portal surfaces over the goo are visible from the funnel base.
The Sojourner 21 Aug, 2016 @ 10:19pm
Also I just checked again, and I think that alcove is the only place you can get trapped (and maybe on the bottom level, in front of the repulsion gel dispenser, but that should be an easy fix hopefully).
The Sojourner 21 Aug, 2016 @ 10:17pm
That's one place where I can get stuck, yes. There's also a somewhat slim chance the player could get stuck in that alcove by entering the excursion funnel (by spreading gel) and riding it to the end of the alcove (I'm guessing you only intended the cube to go there?).

Oh, I think I understand now. Are you getting caught in the funnel with the cleansing gel over the goo?
The Sojourner 21 Aug, 2016 @ 8:34pm
No the other one, with the deadly goo in it.
(Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr  [author] 21 Aug, 2016 @ 5:19pm
Which upper alcove, the one with the exit door?
The Sojourner 21 Aug, 2016 @ 5:13pm
There are multiple places to get trapped, such as in that upper alcove. If you haven't seen this already, I recommend taking a look, particularly at the "excursion funnels" case.

Where are you getting trapped?
The Sojourner 21 Aug, 2016 @ 4:23pm
Yay another one :steamhappy:

Though I have to say, unfortunately, there are trapping issues in this puzzle that interfere with the enjoyment of solving the test. Still working on finding a solution...
