When a military ship is stationed in the city you should get plus 1 culture
Also you should get plus 1 tourism once flight has been researched

This wonder seems great for Venice (funnily enough), Morocco or Arabia.

I think you should add a flat gold bonus, since the bonus from market + bank (it's in the files but not in the pedia) is 4, so it ends being less than this wonder. And the East company cost 1/4 of productions and gives also more bonus.

Don't think that it'll be gone, I'll just find another wonder that it works for.

Thank you for updating this mod; though I will miss the extra food and production. So precious few wonders add to the viability of water tiles. *crosses fingers there will be no changes to Nan Madol*

Updated 19 July 2013 to BNW compatibility

Excited!

It'll most likely get an overhaul with BNW to focus on the new trade system anyway, so stay tuned there

Some Ideas for how to tone this one down; you could keep everything bu turn the +3/+2 into a flat bonus, not a bonus per worked tile. You could reduce the bonus per worked tile to +1 Gold. You could allow the bonus on only sea tiles with resources. I do still want to see this become useable; it's a great idea.

This is a must have Wonder. I love it!

Yes, agreed with others; re: overpowering. Perhaps if it only granted the bonuses to the tiles in use?
Delport Breckland 2 Mar, 2013 @ 7:58pm
I really want to use it, but it's unbalancing at the current power level - It is just too good to let someone else get! Could you maybe tone it down a bit?

very powerful wonder..

this wonder is converting useless coastal tiles into tiles, that are more useful than land resources. it seems clearly overpowered to me

I really don't think canals should be looked at as 'rivers', were I live we have heaps of canals and they are more like inlets than rivers, or even man made fjords. They are like a really jaggered harbour like Sydney Harbour, so saying they should affect rivers based on the assumption that they are like rivers is probably wrong, but that is just my humble opinion. Canals are usually (if not always) situated on a coast and often are nowhere near a river, like the canals near my home and, thugh I maybe wrong, I believe the canals in Venice are the same (though I'm just guesstamating).

Only for that one city

Thank you for all these additional wonders! I like to build lots of wonders in the game^^
I have some suggestions: Schönbrunn palace, Belèm Tower, the Atomium, the Golden Gate bridge, Borobudur, the Astronomical clock (Prague), the Sagrada Familia... ;)
Hope you will add more.

I would download this if it could only be built on river cities, didn't require currency. And if it provided a 10,15, or 20% gold from trade routes on RIVER cities.

I forgot to mention this before, but you should probably nerf the static +culture to just 1. Minor change, but sometimes that's all a wonder needs.

I had qualms about this wonder when I first downloaded this mod, but after playing with it and building it in an ideal location (a bay with about 15 coastal tiles) I can say this wonder is *VERY* powerful, but strangely it did not feel unbalanced.

With a lighthouse and Grand Canal each coastal tile becomes 8-yield tiles (2 food, 2 production, 4 gold). Most land tiles become 4-yield tiles, 5 with river, and resource tiles eventually become a minimum of 6-yield, while typically hitting 7-8 yield with ease. In a sense, this wonder turns coastal tiles into resource tiles. <Continued in next post>

In terms of food/production this wonder will only match what you can achieve on land; gold is the opportunity reward for constructing Grand Canal, and you get a lot of gold. For larger (100-150 pop+) empires this wonder compares to Machu Picchu (and only with a heavy coast spot), but for smaller, condensed empires with an ideal spot for Grand Canal, the Grand Canal definitely trumps Machu Picchu (as it should; it's more production/later tech).

Another caveat is that ideal locations tend to be lacking in production prior to Grand Canal, making it difficult to construct, while locations with more accessible production will not see the same benefits usually. <Continued in next post>

I like this wonder. It's quite unique, and really bolsters the value of heading up the topside of the tech tree along with the Torre Del Oro wonder, while showing a clear slant for which kind of empires will emphasize this wonder (Tradition/Vertical).

For balance I think cutting the gold bonus to +2 per coastal tile would be enough. Its primary benefits are turning mediocre/bad coastal city sites into respectable sources of production and yielding you a bunch of gold, and all this takes set-up + proper circumstances.

A unique, situational, high skill/high reward wonder. Very good sir :)

I look forward to your next wonder mods and will post balance feedback as I continue playing with your mods.
Tonberry 16 Jun, 2012 @ 3:49pm
or even since its canals it could add +2 gold and +1 production to river tiles?
Tonberry 16 Jun, 2012 @ 2:05pm
this is very powerful perhaps just a +4 prod and +6 gold from the wonder itself would be enough of a bonus and thats pretty big.
Ashlin Phillips 15 Jun, 2012 @ 6:41pm
Looks good. I'll se how it does.
