Oh, Yes i was talking about wh2.

I did a Red chaos version of Cairn wraith with wsmmodel modification so i think it should work.

The wsmmodel files and shaders are working again correctly, so if you still wish to update this mod.

It should work as intended.

Man I wish this mod wasn't broken :S I love the etheral units, but I really want them to look a bit more badass than the currently light green/blue they are in the game atm :S

Hey Ali- TP, first good job with your reskins, they are amazing.
Secondly, I am doing a mod myself, chaos black chosen which also broke around the wood elf patch. I was about to reskin the whole chaos faction. Almost done, about to release it and bam, all ruined because of that patch, because i am depending on the alpha-channels.

Oh well. point is, this thread might help you if you are an avid user of the alpha-channels, like dxt5 if i remember correctly. Havent been looking at this stuff for a while.

I dont have much time, so I havent tested this solution yet. But its a converter to change your dds files into one which can make the game read it. It might help with the tattering you made for the etherals.

but then if I create a mod with the PFM that has only the vanilla-game xml.material file it still comes out buggy

since it worked before the woodelves patch it probably isn't the fault of the PFM

the xml.material files are really just text files which I edit in motepad++ so I'm confused that there is a problem

I've got a feeling the woodelves patch introduced some extra thing that needs to be done to make things work. I don't know.

Oh my god, thank you thank you thank you thank you so much for putting this back in public! I was so sad when I saw that it wasn't available anymore. This is one of my absolute favorite mods and I am sure there will be a fix to the problem soon so we can use this again! :)

I`m soooooo glad you decided to make this mod visible again! This is by far my favorite TW W retexture (even better than the ghoul one imo)! I just can`t look at cair wraiths again after playing with this! As you said, the woodelf update broke some of the files. Now, I`m not a modder, but some other moders that use custom made textures for their mods (Kelster, Guv) manage to fix their mods about 2 or 3 days ago! If you didn`t already, you might want to contact them. Maybe they can help out! Would love to play with this again! P.S: Any new vampire retextures planned?

Good to see that you didn't fully give up on it yet, as seeing good work disappear is always a bad thing and then even others can't fix it in the future.

Hi thanks Blaise90. Hopefully the new format means better textures in the future for this game, allowing translucent opacity for diffuse textures etc. and the materials problem gets fixed.

I know that my materials method is not working anymore and lot of skinners has same issues.

Somehow the Materials reference files & .wsmodel files got broken....

So most of might Ethereals unit are just not Ethereal anymore :/

Sad thing.

@blaise90 Hi that's cool thanks. I took a break from the game for a while but I might have another crack at finishing the mortis engine when the new patch comes out. There are so many files to change for the Mort E, it'll take ages and I'm just not feeling motivated for it right now

Yes, I extracted the variant mesh of the Ghost Thane and traced back how it works.

I was a bit surprised how easy to understand CA's database system.

But that's a good thing. :)

In the meantime I put together a complete unit set mod and mentioned your mod as recommended for better visuals:

Howerver I'm use mostly the Mortis Engine Shaders and sadly those are not as cool yet as what you are able to done. :)

But I'm hoping for a future updated of your mod which might include your vision of the "mortis engine shader". :)

@blaise90 ooh nice. I'm guessing you realised you just need to change the shader referred to for the units .xml.material for weighted4 which is for when the unit is close to the camera and weighted2 for when it's far off, and add some of the other changes you see if you compare the material files of ethereal and non-ethereal units.

Hi Ali-TP,

Have you figured out a way to make a non-Ethereal unit Ethereal?

Through skinning or other effects?

I'm thinking of making an Ethereal Wolves unit version of the Dire wolves, but couldn't find the way yet how to make the skin look like "ethereal".

If you did or will do please let me know the method.

Still, beautiful work. Makes ethereals much more terrifying and realistic. When will you finish the mortis engines? I'm excited to see what you do with them.

@ShiHuangdi That smoke cloud aura comes from the vanilla unit. I'd remove it if I knew how because I don't like how it looks or the way it pops in when you zoom into the unit. I've looked through the vfx files multiple times trying to find the code, like my "No Stink Clouds" mod. Or I'd at least turn it down to 20% opacity or something. I'd maybe even replace the fx with balefire from the corpse cart, recoloured light grey.

I think the Mousillion reskin conflicts with another mod or a unit mod. Not with Tattered Etherals.

For me both your mod and Lokerian's mods working together.

I crashed on "Custom Battle Screen" when I had faulty database entry(mount was wrongly referred) in my mod.

So possibly it is a unit mod or different mod conflict.

Beautiful mod. The aura around the cairn wraiths does hit my performance though. It should be toned down.
