Not sure why this is not a normal option in game but this mod is definately broken as of now breaks all auto dampeners and ability to turn them on or off for all players

Never heard about mod.io before, but now after a quick look, i think it should be easy to port the mod there. My biggest problem here is, that i play on PC - exclusively. I can't test my mod on another platform or fix a problem if it occurs anywhere else. So honestly i am not very motivated to just throw it out there - hoping it will work. Maybe i revisit the idea if i want to play with a non-PC using friend. Or maybe if i am just really really bored...... but this did't happen in years, so don't hold your breath ;-)

Keen has spent more than a decade saying they will look into adding a toggle option as a response to countless of frustrated players who don't understand the logic or reason behind the dumb auto "feature". Thank you for fixing their failure with this mod. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Thanks! This will help. The conversion-error should be easy to fix. I just need to update my development setup. There was no need to change this mod for many years, so it is pretty outdated.

Thirded; as of the current version, it throws a "compilation failed," along with the following errors at 79,61 and 136,69:

Error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'VRage.Game.Components.Interfaces.IMyEntityComponentContainer' to 'VRage.Game.Components.MyEntityComponentContainer'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)

Anyone else experiencing jetpack sound loop not stopping upon auto deactivation of the jetpack?
With every deactivation the jetpack's "wind" background noise gets louder and keeps playing until game is reloaded, as the sound loop doesn't seem to be stopped when the jetpack is deactivated by the mod.

Works fine for me still. An essential tweak to stop the jetpack from turning on when reaching the top of a ladder on a movable grid.

Sure you can use the code. I code for the community - just do the same. This way i wrote the code for you anyway. I will check out this new problem soon. I just have to setup the modding environment again. It has been some time since i worked on space-engineer mods and my setup is outdated.

Heya we're having issues with some people being unable to download this mod through steam for some reason.
Is it okay if we use the code in our own mod (unlisted and with credits in our Lobby and on mod page) ?

This or something similar needs to be in the base game in the form of a setting toggle or mode or world selection. Dependency handling and ordering is also a major issue when adding mods to a world, which can be handled by the Steam dependency listing, or offloaded to the mod developers.

Did you try out the mod? It should disable jetpack activation after exiting the ladder. If the jetpacks are useless in your world, it should be ok to disable ALL activation. Or isn´t it?

Hey could you make a version that only disables the jetpack turning on after you climb a ladder? I'm playing a survival world with useless jetpacks, and climbing ontop of my rover automatically enables the jetpack, which is quite annoying. :steamthumbsup:

I regularly see things get replies after years, and it's not like mod comment pages just become unusable after long delays between comments.

@vorgonian, steam doesnt like necroing posts. so if you see that a thread is still active, (not locked) but old, then they prefer if you start a new discussion. once that discussion has had a reply it unflags all other posts related to the "object" that was originally sited. they do this to keep forum information available without people using them to "harrass" a feed. its a weird logorithum but understanding it does help out when addressing old posts with new issues (or non issues lol)

I am happy your problems got solved! Even happier this MOD was not your problem! Thanks for taking the time to report a problem - even if it turned out, there is no bug! Developers and modders are lost without feedback! And you started the first separate discussion about this mod in five years! Didn´t even know you could do that! Thanks for teaching me! ;-)

also, for other new players looking to set up servers and enjoy mods. to make mods work. save your world. then from a load state. edit the save file to be experimental in game options. then go back to the load. activate mods you want active. ... again.. sorry for the new player mistake

please ignore the discussion that i had added.. steam was being funky and i didnt want to be flagged for "Necroing" so, i made a disscussion. just ignore it. it was a server side error. its fixed. mod works great

I did eventually get to testing it out and everything seems to work perfectly. Sorry for posting the question, I was trying to recommend this mod to my server when I didn't have pc access to combat there objections. Have since tested it and relative dampeners activate when exiting a moving cockpit, so everything is good. Video of test here with ladder test also. https://youtu.be/dkgAIJND7jM

Relative Dampening DOES automatically work on any fast-moving grid you exit, right?
I'm sure that's a thing.
I also use this mod in multiplayer, and I'm absolutely certain I've gotten in and out of moving vehicles no problem, including jetpack dampening where appropriate.

This mod does not change the speed of an engineer at all. It does not make you go faster or stop you if you exit a flight seat. It simply turns your jetpack off again, if it activates automatically. So every speed change or death by physics collisions is from the vanilla game.
Maybe the mod creates some small lag in the game while it reacts to the changed engineer state, but since the simulation runs on your server i highly doubt that this is the cause of your problem. I never saw this kind of problem on another server. Sorry for your lost engineers! I really hope this mod didn´t kill them!

Uhm, you could have just try the mod in a SP environtment lol.
But aside from that, the mod does not manage speed inheritence, it's actually vanilla.
In fact, the whole automatic damping is actually done by Keen to counter the speed you inherit.

However, if auto-dampeners would actually take over of the last left grid, that'd be stupendous but oh well, Keen be Keen... Gotta wait for a mod I assume. -.-

At the very least, I can say with confidence that I've never experienced any issues with speed, since I regularly hop out of the seat of my mining platforms to walk around while they're heading to destinations.
With this mod, it just makes it easier because my jetpack doesn't automatically turn on and actually make me slam against things because I don't expect the increased speed it brings.

This mod compensates for that, right?
Either that, or it's actually a vanilla feature that the player inherits speed, since you'd slam against a ship anyway if you didn't, because relative dampeners don't instantly bring you up to speed.
