The worst part of map 3 is that there isn't really anything telling you what to do or how things work. You press the button in the Dam, and a Tank and Horde appear, and there seemingly is no way to go forward. However, then for no apparent reason a door that I checked before that looked like it was just there for decoration suddenly explodes open, revealing the way forward. In Single Player mode, this is unfeasible on any difficulty higher than Normal because the hordes are so large and the Survivor bots just can't keep up, even with Left 4 Bots 2.
I know this was an unfinished map, but I think it's worth a discussion over whether or not it should have been released in this state at all. Just because you could doesn't mean that you should. I hope the Complete and Remastered versions turn out to be better balanced.
I know this is basically just the released maps with a few tweaks to make them work properly, but I'm going to judge the product as I received it.
The current state that this campaign is in is pretty garbage. The first two maps are okay, but they go on for way longer than necessary. It doesn't help that the Survivors don't have any dialogue to say, It makes it even more boring. The third and final map is a total shitshow. It has two events that spawn simultaneous Tanks and Hordes, and in addition to that a random Witch or Tank can still spawn anywhere on the map. That means if you are unlucky, you could have to fight three Tanks before you even reach the finale. The finale is actually decent, but it feels off with how it just ends abruptly. There's nothing to protect the Survivors from everything chasing them out of the dam, so how did they escape?
"The first 2/12 maps were fun tho,"
2/12 usually means two out of twelve
Content on the workshop is usually known as "items" which is why I said that
Is English not your native language?
Nobody's arguing but you apparently
You have two comments here, but I know you've deleted others
Anyway, nobody else complained about that
Nor have I experienced that in other Dam It campaigns
Maybe something's improved with bot mods, who knows
Nothing you described is a part of this from what I remember
It's definitely not 12 maps nor does it have an insta kill door
This is why your previous comment was removed
As you claimed, it was your first item commenting?
Maybe you got confused what you downloaded
I'll give you time to clarify before deleting again
As we don't want people getting the wrong idea of this item
Sorry for the late reply! To answer your question, this was the first official port
It was simply picking up where Turtle Rock Studios left off
We ported it right into Left 4 Dead 2 from the first Left 4 Dead
Only fixing whatever we found absolutely necessary to fix back then
(Considering it's still debatable to many if anything after Last Stand fixes or breaks)
That being said, look back at my previous comments from November
You would definitely enjoy "Remastered" and "Complete"
"Akira" and "Atomic Cat" did great work with their versions
No other versions would be supported or recommended or even necessary
Not killing zombies. If you stay at the start, you will die
When you hit that last switch, you can get to the escape area
At the time of the port, they may have been previously known as "Lee" or "Brian"
Regardless of the creation time of the re-upload, ours was still the real version
The other version, knowing the history and reputation of the user, is questionable
Most likely has unnecessary changes, including to the events including the finale
It does not remain faithful to the original from Turtle Rock Studios
Out of respect for Turtle Rock Studios, ours was simply made L4D2 compatible
Be further advised, the reuploader attempted infringement towards us
Infringement against us Akira, and Atomic
Reuploader took the Remastered item, and Complete's screenshots
They had also modified the finale
Multiple infringement had occurred
It's always best to do research and support original creators
Especially when certain users already have a track record behind them
Finale already worked
We don't have any unnecessary tampering
This version is 100% pure and legit
Unlike a certain other plagiarized theft
I make these statements due to an unnecessary edit being re-uploaded
Someone attempted to question them but I don't expect honesty or transparency
Regardless, no denying by upload date on my item what the real truth is
Created by Turtle Rock Studios, original developers of Left 4 Dead
Myself, "AkiraTea" and "RomanMV" (currently "AtomicCat404") did original work
As far as originality, and support and respect for original developers and their work...
It must be reminded and stated: this was the very first proper fix and port of Dam It
We kept Turtle Rock Studios vision completely intact
Only changed and fixed what's necessary for Left 4 Dead 2 compatibility
This version remains the first real port as well as having actual fixes
No major changes out of respect and support for Turtle Rock Studios
Some of us actually know the story and what it took for us to have this campaign
"Complete" and "Remastered" edits are exactly as their names imply
Remastered and Complete offer more polished and completed finales
However, as stated by at least one of them, our version inspired them
"Buried by the Flood" was officially finished by my team and Complete/Remastered
Very unfortunate to see plagiarism and theft with broken stolen versions
for example, more improved finales like the other traditional Valve campaigns.
our version was just the first port only fixing up enough to make it compatible.
you might have other add-ons causing a conflict.
Then you go to the generator up ahead.
Turtle Rock Studios was kind enough to release what they had finished.
all we did was simply make it compatible enough for Left 4 Dead 2.
you can get the "Complete" or "Remastered" versions if you want more texturing.

It even says in the description it was never finished. There were others that made complete versions. This is mostly here for anyone wanting to check it out on L4D2, as it was only released for L4D initially.
GameMaps Version with L4D2 Survivors: https://www.gamemaps.com/details/17579
Workshop Version with L4D1 Survivors: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1372576009
KeyValues Error: RecursiveLoadFromBuffer: got EOF instead of keyname in file missions/damit.txt
mission, (*modes*), (*versus*), (*3*), (*versus_boss_spawning*),
It's due a typo at the end of missions/damit.txt, where the survival-mode-related stuff is commented-out: one more close-brace character was commented-out than should have been. (In effect, the close-brace for the entire "modes" block was commented-out, not just the close-brace for the "survival" block.) So, if you simply remove the '//' from line 147, the file becomes fixed and the game parses it correctly.
Would you guys mind applying this small fix to the VPK and updating this workshop item? I know it hasn't received an update in a few years, but it'd be appreciated. Thanks!
its interesting event. challenging coz lots of tank
but fun short map
which it had more detail but basic is ok for me
Helps me keep track of which Zoey is who.
It will even reflect every where else in the game, it's a complete rename for everyone.
What is your problem with me and my team?
Why are you trying to steal our work?
What were you thinking trying to get away with claiming ownership AFTER we created it.
Why even try to take 2015 credit for Dam It which didn't exist in the public until 2016!
