Tough but excellent fun mission! I especially enjoyed the stealth infiltration to lay charges next to the artillery tanks. Personally I'd ditch the 9mm in favour of an MX carbine but otherwise excellent mission. Great work!

That is definitely a mistake that needs to be fixed when I get the chance to find the latest mission files in my archives wherever those are :/

1 of the best stealthy missions I played. but about briefing, as u said that enemy are some militia who cant even repair those guns, so I though I will encounter those syndicates but they were CSAT!
also player starts in north west of the target not north east of it.
good mission though.

Yes I understand that it sucks to use a weaker gun and with a 9mm weapon you actually have to shoot between the body armor. I chose this weapon to really make the mission claustrophobic and tense, however after your first contact you can loot a weapon.

The lookout labelled is not for you, it is for your spotter to go to. You are to proceed to the enemy base, your spotter will go to the lookout. I intentionally made sure that the base was obstructed by fog so that the player couldn't just spawn themselves a .50 cal and go snipe everyone, this was a CQC mission, not a sniper mission.

ALL charges are ground charges in arma, there are no attachable charges so any explosives that I give you will need to be placed on the ground. I scripted the tanks to explode when they are damaged below a threshold which is easily achievable with the charges provided. However there are other means of destroying the tanks on the base, like weapon caches etc should you fail.

Just played through, or at least tried. I enjoy the mission but just don't agree with some of the logistiscs. I agree with others that the weapon should be different. Also, the lookout labled on the map is obsolete, for there is fog that obstructs the view of the plantation. Aslo, had difficulties with blowing up the AA tanks. The charge you are given is a "ground" charge, so it will only detonate if it is on the ground or dropped onto the tank, which was annoying- also, it took about 5 try of detonation to actually disable the tank. And only being given 2 charges, I had to reload the mission several times.
To summarize, a different weapon, deleting the lookout from the map, and different/bigger/more charges. I believe these changes would make this mission 100x better!

Awesome mission! One thing -i changed my loadout from the MP5 to a honey badger with subsonic .300 blkout ammo. The MP5 just doesn't drop those CSAT SF guys in less than about 5 shots.

There is a great open source program for recording, enhancing, mixing and playing all manner of media files. It is called VLC. Check out their site http://www.videolan.org/
At their site you can download the program as well as get a wealth of information. VLD is quiet robust. I have also included a youtube link that gives a step by step method of making a voice recording sound like it is coming over a radio. https://youtu.be/YantpouC4Mk

@bertware cheers mate, thanks for playing! I have linked the raw mission files in the discussion section^^ grab that and unzip it into your missions folder (C:\Users\**YOURUSERNAME**\Documents\Arma 3\missions). Open it up in the editor and either resize/move/delete the two triggers named 'killTrigger' & 'warnTrigger', then export it as a singleplayer mission and you're good to go.

Going off the beaten path is kind of futile though, as at a certain point the players position is moved by script and the time skipped forwards until after dark for story telling reasons so no matter which path you take, short and direct or long and convoluted, you're going to end up in the exact same spot anyway

Hi, it's a nice mission, but would it be possible to slightly increase the AO to the north side? There's a pathway in the jungle there (from the overwatch point towards the artillery) that can't be followed since there is a small part outside the AO, causing the mission to fail. Otherwise great mission :)

As suggested by edjeedje below I have added a map destination for the exfiltration part of the mission, which is dynamically assigned based on the players orientation to the base. Let me know if I broke the mission in some way.

@edjeedje thanks mate, great feedback. I intentionally left it as "leave the AO" with no set destination because I didn't want people to be on the north side of the base then be told to go all the way to the south side of the base to ginish the mission. You're definitely right though, I can't just leave the player guessing! I have a solution that sets the destination based on the players position around the base, so if you are on the north you will be asked to head north, if you are in the east then it will ask you to head east etc. It's just in my head right now but when I get home from work I'll implement this.

Awesome. I managed to dodge two jungle patrols and eliminate one jungle patrol. After reaching the artillery it was a piece of cake. For some reason the two guards survived two grenades. I do not know why. But with a lot of bullets I solved that problem:steamhappy:.
Personally I would like to have a specific mapgrid to reach after blowing up the artillery; i hesitated where to go to; just a 'leaving AO' had me confused (I have not had that in other missions).
But overall: great!

@boysen0116 TL:DR thanks for commenting and something else is causing saves to not work, not the mission.

Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it up until this. Yeah saves are 100% enabled, there is an autosave system present at key points in the mission and the player can create as many manual saves as they like.

Unfortunately saves are handled by the game itself, all I can do is give the command to save, after that it is all game engine. If your saves don't work then it's corrupt save files or a game update rendered them incompatible or something.

I could break saves by updating the mission so that it is incompatible with old saves but I haven't done that.

@ くそ食らえ ♥ Haha thanks, If it makes him feel any better I get smoked as well. The AI doesn't have any special knowledge of the player, I just load the dice a bit to ensure that at some point AI and players paths cross.

Also thanks for mentioning about the Apex thing, I'm new to publishing things on steam.

"The Ai is "cheating", it's crazy how often the first Patrol caught me & i never saw them. The Explosive part in the Night was quite easy. Nice Mission, Thumbs up"

Die KI 'schummelt' ;) - ist echt krass wie oft mich die erste Patroullie erwischt hat und ich sehe gar nichts von denen. Mit umgehen hat es dann geklappt. Das Spengen in der Nacht ist dann recht einfach. Nette Mission Daumen hoch !!!

@Jäger please post bugs in the bug report section^^ of the discussions, troubleshooting stuff can become a lengthy back and forth and nobody needs to read through that in the comment section.

Either way this is not a mission related issue as we are all running the same mission and I know that others can't replicate the issue. My code is always very simple and robust so if one person has the issue everyone else that plays the mission will have the same issue.

@KingoftheSandbox honestly when I made this mission I expected about two people to play it... But I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. I can add sub titles to it, but I can't speak any other languages so I need someone to translate. If anybody wants to have a go at translating it then feel free, message me the translation and I will implement it as sub titles ASAP.

I can deal with multiple languages as arma has a system for handling displaying different text based on the which language option is chosen.

Nice to hear the update. and good job on the patrol, for me it seemed like an autosave before running into a patrol radius which give us too much of a heads', up good update, will give it another go :)

After watching Jeza's vid I was really disappointed with myself for how I had handled the way the tanks get taken out. There was absolutely no visual indication for the player so I implemented a change. There will be no doubt that the task has been achieved now.

I also added randomisation to the jungle patrols, so now the player won't know how many contacts are present.

@Jeza thanks again for the vid, it was really informative to see the mission from another point of view.
