@Evenos802
I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Could you elaborate?
Evenos802 11 Sep, 2018 @ 11:42pm
Hello. for which you do not make cards accessible to people who can not afford a computer of 4k or more. thank you

@DeadAnt
What, enabling experimental map sizes? Not much I can do about that, but I did upload a "Cropped" version of this map to the workshop too, which doesn't require that option to work.
DeadAnt 28 Jul, 2017 @ 6:21pm
I hate shit that forces me to edit text files.
nary_believe 2 Jan, 2017 @ 5:21pm
I love this map - it's exactly the kind of geography that I was hoping would be the default in this game... big enough and sparsely-populated enough that the challenge is navigating the landscape. It's also gotten much easier (read: less frustrating) to play with since the tweaks to cargo production in the December TpF update ;)

FYI, if you can prevent "The River Delta Redux" from appearing in the list of mods to enable/disable by using the key "visible = false" in mod.lua (see the default campaigns, which are saved as though they're mods but don't appear in the list). I believe that the map will still appear in the list of maps.

Could you please post the older version? I'm interested to see what exactly you changed between versions :)

I now have 8 Airports and adjusted their facing, so as to avoid aircraft flying into/through the mountain terrain. Some routes are making money, but most are not.
I must try to work in the Oil/Refinery/Chemical/Manufacturing chain.
RolandBP 18 Dec, 2016 @ 6:45pm
I am really enjoying this map. Things were very slow at first in the passenger trains department, but by the early 1900's, with faster trains, they started to become viable. Now at the 1960's the 3 towns with passenger trains are growing really fast.
The first food industry chain is I created is now producing up to 400 units. The Logging Line is also flourishing.
Unfortunately My Iron Ore/Coal/Steel/ section to Manufacturing, gave up, possibly due to the length? Tried to get it and the other Iron Ore/Coal/Steel running to the same steel mill, but it is just not working, yet the Lumber to the same Manufacturing plant is booming. I have also set up the second food chain using the faster ships now available in the late 1960's, it is working, but I am sure it would do better if I used rail as I had done with the original version of this map.

Ok, thanx I'll try the link on TF.net instead.
Dan  [author] 15 Dec, 2016 @ 2:21pm
@fredrik_gelin
No idea what that could be. It's the first I've heard of such a problem.
There's not exactly much to a map - just a png file and a map.lua file.

If you can't get it through the Workshop, try downloading it manually here:
https://www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/2528-The-River-Delta-Redux/
- and put it in your Transport Fever folder under Steam/steamapps/common/Transport Fever/maps/
Swesim 15 Dec, 2016 @ 12:56pm
I can't get this map to download completely, it always stops at 16.9MB and never finish?
Dan  [author] 11 Dec, 2016 @ 1:28pm
@Mush
I followed your suggestion and published a tweaked version. It's the same scale, but with a bit of cropping, mostly to the east edge of the map. It just fits in under the 256km² limit now.

Dan  [author] 11 Dec, 2016 @ 11:41am
Oh good lord! I was looking into creating a map variant as @Mush suggested below, and in the process of doing so, I've stumbled across a GLARING error with the Redux version of the map.
Both of the Goods Factories completely fail to generate! The map currently appears to be devoid of Goods Factories, and somehow I missed it this entire time! (Even playing for several days on my own map!!)

I'll try and bash out an update soon that corrects this, and hopefully a cropped version as well for the people who can't get the experimental map sizes to work.
Steve Emfore 11 Dec, 2016 @ 10:27am
I am also getting the same error as @Aximes where the Settings.lua changes whatever I put in ExperimentalMapSizes to false after the game has booted. For us users struggling with this, is there any chance of another release scaled down to a size where the game can run it?

Cheers.

Very pretty map, though i think it needs a bit more satellite towns along the connecting roads. Played more than 50 years and cities still not growing, even though they have active passenger connections and some cargo supplied. They rebuild building inside itself, but almost no expansion. And there's no ai traffic between cities.
Dan  [author] 8 Dec, 2016 @ 6:43am
@Dynd
Looks like the page is up now.
Dynd 7 Dec, 2016 @ 4:32pm
Thank you very much! I'll keep an eye on it as well. Much appreciated.
Dan  [author] 7 Dec, 2016 @ 3:03pm
@Dynd
Ah yes, logged out and it appears to be a blocked link for the moment... I guess keep an eye on it for now until their mods OK it.
Dan  [author] 7 Dec, 2016 @ 2:57pm
@Dynd
Sure, I just created an account at transportfever.net and uploaded it there.
It says it's awaiting moderation, but the link appears to be:
https://www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/2528-The-River-Delta-Redux/
I don't know if it's visible yet, or when it will be.
Dan  [author] 7 Dec, 2016 @ 2:48pm
@Aximes
Sounds the right approach... I'm really not sure, sorry! Might be one to hit the discussion board for.
Aximes 7 Dec, 2016 @ 2:34pm
I used Notepad++ and I tried it multiple times to be sure that I've done everything right. I dont know... Its saved then, I checked that too but everytime when I run the game, its on false again.
Dan  [author] 7 Dec, 2016 @ 2:31pm
@Aximes
Huh, not sure on that one...
Are you definitely editing and saving plain-text (in notepad or wordpad)? Are you making sure there's still a comma at the end of the line?
I wonder if it maybe automatically regenerates the settings file if the formatting gets corrupted or something...
Besides that, not sure I can help... everything in your /userdata/ folders should be persistent, even after patch releases.
Dynd 7 Dec, 2016 @ 7:25am
Could you give a download link for GoG users? I'd love to try this.
Aximes 6 Dec, 2016 @ 5:37pm
Everytime I try to change the experimentalMapSize, nothing happens ingame. I cant start the map. Everytime when I launch the Game, it set it back to false. Can someone help me?
Dan  [author] 4 Dec, 2016 @ 1:27pm
There, updated to the "Redux" version. Hopefully it's an overall improvement, but if anyone prefers the original map and wants my to re-upload it, please let me know.
Dan  [author] 2 Dec, 2016 @ 3:27pm
@RolandBP
I actually try to avoid having too many intermediary industries half way between producers and towns, as that means you can only earn in one direction and have to send vehicles back empty. If some producers are near to towns, and have to travel somewhere else and back again to be turned into town-demanded cargo, you can set up certain routes as double-earners, which is pretty much essential on Hard difficulty.
RolandBP 2 Dec, 2016 @ 3:12pm
@grimdanfango. Hi, yes some more towns, would be worthwhile, not only for passenger trains, but also so sending food to them would not require such a long road trip.
The other thing is the placement of most factories closer to a town would be more appropriate to real life.
For example a Quarry on a hill, would most likely have a factory between it and a town.
Same for the Coal Mine and Iron Ore Mine {which in real life may themselves be miles apart}, but the Steel Works should be logically placed between them and one or more {possibly just 2} towns. It could be placed near the river, where the steel could be shipped to towns also near the river.
Yes the river "Banks" are a bit steep and should be flatter nearer the towns at least.
I still think your maps are very interesting {the best IMO}, but some tweaking would make them even better.
Dan  [author] 2 Dec, 2016 @ 10:39am
@RolandBP @nary_believe
Interesting, thanks for the info guys... I've not had much time to actually play my own maps much.
I'm currently working on a "Redux" version of The River Delta, as I felt like too much of the hilly areas of the map were under-accessible, and I wanted to tweak some of the placement. (Also the riverbeds are too deep, which makes for ludicrously expensive bridges)

Do you reckon I should bump up the town count for the next version then? I still want to keep it relatively low if possible, but maybe it'd be better to find a middle-ground.
RolandBP 2 Dec, 2016 @ 4:29am
I am in the same mind. I started in 1850 and managed to make enough of a profit with the Farm furthest from the sea, but had no luck with passenger services by train, only by Stage coach then buses. I did find once I got the 60mph loco it was getting a growing number of passengers, but not fully profitable as it had to fit in between my 8 Food Produce trains. I had to make that busy section into double line. I have just started the second farm produce line "1920" and is now making a profit for the road haul section in 1925.
I found making profitable passenger runs on "The Mountain Pass" route was much easier.
The problem I had with the "Mountain Pass" route was with both of the Forest/Sawmill/Factory to town system. The sawmill/s both gave up due to the time to get the logs.
But I had no problems with the food chains on that same route.
Has anyone had success with the logging/Sawmill chain?
nary_believe 30 Nov, 2016 @ 7:27pm
I thought that it might have something to do with trip length, so I tried starting in 1950 and running two A4-powered trains for a few years, but the demand never built up. I guess freight is the way to go for starters.
Dan  [author] 30 Nov, 2016 @ 6:23pm
@nary_believe
Well, I can't say for certain, but I would guess that as with everything in Transport Fever, you may need to start small and scale up over the long-term - it takes any demand a while to build up, and also ensure you feed those towns with cargo chains to help them grow before you scale up the passenger services.
I'm not sure if passengers' willingness to travel might also be tied to the date... I'd figure that later in the game, there should be plenty of demand for passenger services even over longer distances, provided they're fairly fast and frequent.
nary_believe 30 Nov, 2016 @ 6:18pm
Beautiful map! Is it possible to make a profit with passengers, though? I tried connecting two towns with frequent, fast rail service, but the passenger demand was really small - I'm guessing because they were so far apart...

Thanks

@[YT] Master Svenson [GER]
- let's hope Google Translate doesn't make too much of a mess of this :-P

Sie müssen experimentelle Kartengrößen in settings.lua aktivieren.

Lässt sich nicht starten. Das Höhenprofil ist zu gross wird angezeigt.
BOCHENSKI 25 Nov, 2016 @ 5:30pm
1) Find a new awesome mountainious map
2)Make imposible structures to connect just two points
3)Come here to vote and realise that the autor made also the Mountain Pass

Man, you're awsome, the only maps I like are yours.
Dan  [author] 25 Nov, 2016 @ 3:20pm
@RolandBP
Thanks, yeah, I soon realised that the prospect of setting up a full Good Factory chain in The Mountain Pass was maybe a hint more daunting than building a shuttle mission to the moon :-P

It's still tough in this one (as I'm discovering now I've begun playing on it myself), but hopefully it's surmountable this time.
I might try knocking out a Mountain Pass Remix at some point to try and make it a little more approachable :-)
RolandBP 25 Nov, 2016 @ 3:13pm
grimdanfango [author]. Excellent map, many thanks for the precise instructions which I found very easy to follow. I am going to enjoy this map, as the paths from each Industry to the next needed in sequence are not too far away as was one problem I found with some industries in your previous {otherwise excellent} map.
Dr Strumban 25 Nov, 2016 @ 8:52am
What a lovely map - thank you - also thanks for the heads up about enbling the experimental map sizes (while I was in the file I also found the way to change the $ to £ as I had in TF).
Dan  [author] 25 Nov, 2016 @ 6:39am
@rage2014
Beautiful picture, thanks for sharing!
Dan  [author] 25 Nov, 2016 @ 6:35am
@zcaalock
The heightmap is the work of several programs. I created the rivers and rough coastline using splines in Houdini (a vfx package).
I then import that into World Machine, where all the natural erosion functions are applied, along with a bunch of noise layers, shaping functions and such.
I then re-import the heightmap back to Houdini, where I apply a few localised tweaks and more shaping functions - mostly to get the river to be consistent and to improve the look of the cliffs around the coast.
Essentially, it's carefully hand-painted using maths :-)
Dan  [author] 25 Nov, 2016 @ 6:19am
@Cy @RolandBP
Ah nuts, I didn't think it'd restrict custom maps.
Presumably, you need to enable "Experimental map sizes", as I've gone slightly over the default "Large" area.

Open your settings.lua file in Notepad...
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<your user number>\446800\local\settings.lua)
Change experimentalMapSizes = false,
to experimentalMapSizes = true,

Assuming you're running the latest patch version, that should do it.
RolandBP 25 Nov, 2016 @ 3:06am
Hi I have had the same reply as Cy. I had no problem with your Mountain Pass Map.
Cy 25 Nov, 2016 @ 2:42am
Looks great but won't start for me (game says heightmap too big, maximium 16 million pixels), any help ?
zcaalock 25 Nov, 2016 @ 1:58am
can you tell how did you make the hight map, what program did you used
swonnje 25 Nov, 2016 @ 1:21am
Sehr schöne Karte und nur 7 Städte. Prima! Great!!
rage2014 24 Nov, 2016 @ 11:00pm
Great! Thanks for your contribution.

I enjoyed a lot the previous map, the mountain pass, I was looking forward for your next release.
