I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Could you elaborate?
What, enabling experimental map sizes? Not much I can do about that, but I did upload a "Cropped" version of this map to the workshop too, which doesn't require that option to work.
FYI, if you can prevent "The River Delta Redux" from appearing in the list of mods to enable/disable by using the key "visible = false" in mod.lua (see the default campaigns, which are saved as though they're mods but don't appear in the list). I believe that the map will still appear in the list of maps.
Could you please post the older version? I'm interested to see what exactly you changed between versions :)
I must try to work in the Oil/Refinery/Chemical/Manufacturing chain.
The first food industry chain is I created is now producing up to 400 units. The Logging Line is also flourishing.
Unfortunately My Iron Ore/Coal/Steel/ section to Manufacturing, gave up, possibly due to the length? Tried to get it and the other Iron Ore/Coal/Steel running to the same steel mill, but it is just not working, yet the Lumber to the same Manufacturing plant is booming. I have also set up the second food chain using the faster ships now available in the late 1960's, it is working, but I am sure it would do better if I used rail as I had done with the original version of this map.
No idea what that could be. It's the first I've heard of such a problem.
There's not exactly much to a map - just a png file and a map.lua file.
If you can't get it through the Workshop, try downloading it manually here:
https://www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/2528-The-River-Delta-Redux/
- and put it in your Transport Fever folder under Steam/steamapps/common/Transport Fever/maps/
I followed your suggestion and published a tweaked version. It's the same scale, but with a bit of cropping, mostly to the east edge of the map. It just fits in under the 256km² limit now.

Both of the Goods Factories completely fail to generate! The map currently appears to be devoid of Goods Factories, and somehow I missed it this entire time! (Even playing for several days on my own map!!)
I'll try and bash out an update soon that corrects this, and hopefully a cropped version as well for the people who can't get the experimental map sizes to work.
Cheers.
Looks like the page is up now.
Ah yes, logged out and it appears to be a blocked link for the moment... I guess keep an eye on it for now until their mods OK it.
Sure, I just created an account at transportfever.net and uploaded it there.
It says it's awaiting moderation, but the link appears to be:
https://www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/2528-The-River-Delta-Redux/
I don't know if it's visible yet, or when it will be.
Sounds the right approach... I'm really not sure, sorry! Might be one to hit the discussion board for.
Huh, not sure on that one...
Are you definitely editing and saving plain-text (in notepad or wordpad)? Are you making sure there's still a comma at the end of the line?
I wonder if it maybe automatically regenerates the settings file if the formatting gets corrupted or something...
Besides that, not sure I can help... everything in your /userdata/ folders should be persistent, even after patch releases.
I actually try to avoid having too many intermediary industries half way between producers and towns, as that means you can only earn in one direction and have to send vehicles back empty. If some producers are near to towns, and have to travel somewhere else and back again to be turned into town-demanded cargo, you can set up certain routes as double-earners, which is pretty much essential on Hard difficulty.
The other thing is the placement of most factories closer to a town would be more appropriate to real life.
For example a Quarry on a hill, would most likely have a factory between it and a town.
Same for the Coal Mine and Iron Ore Mine {which in real life may themselves be miles apart}, but the Steel Works should be logically placed between them and one or more {possibly just 2} towns. It could be placed near the river, where the steel could be shipped to towns also near the river.
Yes the river "Banks" are a bit steep and should be flatter nearer the towns at least.
I still think your maps are very interesting {the best IMO}, but some tweaking would make them even better.
Interesting, thanks for the info guys... I've not had much time to actually play my own maps much.
I'm currently working on a "Redux" version of The River Delta, as I felt like too much of the hilly areas of the map were under-accessible, and I wanted to tweak some of the placement. (Also the riverbeds are too deep, which makes for ludicrously expensive bridges)
Do you reckon I should bump up the town count for the next version then? I still want to keep it relatively low if possible, but maybe it'd be better to find a middle-ground.
I found making profitable passenger runs on "The Mountain Pass" route was much easier.
The problem I had with the "Mountain Pass" route was with both of the Forest/Sawmill/Factory to town system. The sawmill/s both gave up due to the time to get the logs.
But I had no problems with the food chains on that same route.
Has anyone had success with the logging/Sawmill chain?
Well, I can't say for certain, but I would guess that as with everything in Transport Fever, you may need to start small and scale up over the long-term - it takes any demand a while to build up, and also ensure you feed those towns with cargo chains to help them grow before you scale up the passenger services.
I'm not sure if passengers' willingness to travel might also be tied to the date... I'd figure that later in the game, there should be plenty of demand for passenger services even over longer distances, provided they're fairly fast and frequent.
- let's hope Google Translate doesn't make too much of a mess of this :-P
Sie müssen experimentelle Kartengrößen in settings.lua aktivieren.
2)Make imposible structures to connect just two points
3)Come here to vote and realise that the autor made also the Mountain Pass
Man, you're awsome, the only maps I like are yours.
Thanks, yeah, I soon realised that the prospect of setting up a full Good Factory chain in The Mountain Pass was maybe a hint more daunting than building a shuttle mission to the moon :-P
It's still tough in this one (as I'm discovering now I've begun playing on it myself), but hopefully it's surmountable this time.
I might try knocking out a Mountain Pass Remix at some point to try and make it a little more approachable :-)
Beautiful picture, thanks for sharing!
The heightmap is the work of several programs. I created the rivers and rough coastline using splines in Houdini (a vfx package).
I then import that into World Machine, where all the natural erosion functions are applied, along with a bunch of noise layers, shaping functions and such.
I then re-import the heightmap back to Houdini, where I apply a few localised tweaks and more shaping functions - mostly to get the river to be consistent and to improve the look of the cliffs around the coast.
Essentially, it's carefully hand-painted using maths :-)
Ah nuts, I didn't think it'd restrict custom maps.
Presumably, you need to enable "Experimental map sizes", as I've gone slightly over the default "Large" area.
Open your settings.lua file in Notepad...
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<your user number>\446800\local\settings.lua)
Change experimentalMapSizes = false,
to experimentalMapSizes = true,
Assuming you're running the latest patch version, that should do it.
I enjoyed a lot the previous map, the mountain pass, I was looking forward for your next release.
