Huh, that's actually really interesting! I remember seeing mods where thrust would apply rotational force, but I never actually thought about the need for counterweights. It's crazy the problem/solution cycles you can get in this game, especially with a little push from mods.

No I just use these as counterweights in-game as a means to balance vehicles. When running realistic thrust and other physics-mods that affect the balance of vehicles, you have to make them balanced so that they don't fall over and so. This is useful as a "super heavy block" to use as counterweights if they are heavier on one part.

I have realised I can use gyroscopes for my land vehicles to prevent them from falling over. I tend to forget they do that too.

It's been a long time since I made this, so I had to double check, but you don't want to use the Weighted Cargo Crates in your final build.

- You can either remove the Cargo Crates and replace them with normal crates when you are done testing your ship.

- Or, you can open the item/components menu [default SHIFT-F10] and place the Cargo Weight Components into the containers.

For small ships, it's easy to just grab an excess of steel plates, but for large ships it can be tedious to move over enough steel plates to fill a cargo container, especially on X3 or X10 inventory sizes.
For reference, there are three cargo weights, sized Large, Medium, and Small. When I made this mod I should have named these better!

-Cargo Weight Component Small = Small Ship - Small Container. Use 27 for a Small Ship Medium Container

-Cargo Weight Component Medium = Small Ship - Large Container OR Large Ship - Small Container

-Large Cargo Weight Component = Large Ship - Large Container

Kind of wish I could put actual cargo in them. Trying to build a small buggy in SE is always a pain because they're always top-heavy and fall over. This helps solve that but I wish I could use them for storage too.

Tested on Stable Branch: the blocks are on the "All Blocks" G-menu tab and can be found when using the Text field. I will look into why they are not appearing in their own menu as they should!

Very smart! It's such a hassle to load up a ship to test it. Thanks man!

Glad to hear this is helping other Engineers avoid disaster! And thanks Ranos for the mod review! (I assume you won't mind me putting it in the description?)
Ranos 5 Jan, 2017 @ 12:05pm
I almost forgot to post a mod review I did of this mod. I really like this mod.

lol yea that happens to me more often then id like to admit xD
Ranos 29 Dec, 2016 @ 12:51am
This is great! I've been needing a mod like this. Thank you for this.
THUNDERCOMPUTER  [author] 28 Dec, 2016 @ 5:42pm
Glad to hear it! Keep in mind that this is for the heaviest that you could possibly load a ship, but if you get it movable with these, you design should be functional! (Does not stop user error though, such as running out of Hydrogen 20m before touchdown...)
Asher 28 Dec, 2016 @ 4:39am
omg thx so much this is so useful when creating something you need to know if it can carry the weight :D

You are welcome! Still working typing on the description, but it will be up in a few minutes!
