Does the AWACs aircraft need to be unlocked by some research? I have the aircraft from MORE PLANES but I'm not seeing the like here. Perhaps a conflict?

It was intended to used as a mobile radar array, at least that's what i find this useful. If you found it easy to be shot down by the UFOs, either stay some distance from them or scramble another squadron of fighters to escort. My AWACS only got shot down once or twice due to bad decisions that stayed too close to the UFOs.

While this is a very novel mod, I struggle to find a use for it. Putting the AWACs plane in a squadron slows the squad to a pitiful 800M/S (most UFO's in early-to-mid game have at least 1400M/S), and the AWACs doesn't seem to detect UFOs very reliably (its radar range isn't used if part of a squadron). If you send an AWACs out alone, it's easy prey for CAP UFOs.

It's also VERY expensive. $350,000 to buy one is brutal.

So, while it's a novel idea, I just can't find a good use for it. The slow speed just kills its usefulness, and increasing its speed would kinda kill realism.

when i put the awacs in a squadron, the radar range of the squadron is that of the condor not of the awacs? also the condor run out of fuel very quick? am using CE

I'll let you in on a little secret: The E3 can't fly more than 24 hours because it burns up all of its oil. But those 18+ hour sorties are fuckin BRUTAL

@Captain Sternn, they dont all get the same fuel, I just doubled the fuel levels for all ships. AWACs was built for endurance so they have more fuel than most starting planes. @Grindstone Super COOL!

I'm not sure if the fuel mod is working, because I sent 2 F16's with the AWACS as a squadron to the middle of Africa from the Middle of North America and they had to fly back from the same distance without the AWACS.

I can't build the AWAC, I don't see it in the workshop. Are there any known incompatibilities?

Yup you cant buy but it does work in CE just need to build in Workshop. Thanks for the feedback!

I cannot purchase AWACS, as other people signed though I started a new game and I refers as researched. There is some bug here

AWACS in my game can be purchased like any other aircraft and requires a hangar slot in your base

2 questions you should answer in the mod description: 1. is this mod compatible with the community edition? 2. is any research needed to have the AWAC or when does it become available?

ok ill take a look at this in the next week or so i've been obsessing over xcom wotc and working on a hoi 4 mod, try and expand my repetiore. But yeah ill take a look check back next sunday

Yeah paying for fuel would be cool. But hey you don't even pay for ammo or grenades anymore not like the old Xcom. I actually enjoyed the old stock management system.

It's best in early game. That extra, mobile coverage really helps but also adds all sort of strategic thinking to the game. IMHO anyway

lel good idea for a mod but it seems unbalanced (plus i have like 90% radar coverage of the world so its kinda useless for me) and the fuel mod would be GREAT if fuel costed us... but it doesnt cause apparently austrailia has millions of gallons of avaition grade fuel to spare.
