ive been looking for this
itd be dope if you pull this off
There is a guy at the base who will give you an option to request a helicopter.
Works well with Drongos Air Operations, Freestyles Crash Landing, and TPW Mods to further enhance the mission. Along with the new SOG DLC helicopters which are pretty fun to play with.
Almost as good (if not a bit better) than the (jet focused) recent Dynamic Air Combat Training Rithan Edit: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2420758330
Though my only issue is the lack of a scroll bar for the long helicopter lists.
Edit: Nevermind. Clicking the sidebar skips through the list as an alternative.
Very unlikely. It takes hundreds of hours to make a mission of this scale and simply don't have that much time in my hands these days. Also ArmA 3 with is aging engine is a pain to work with, and hopefully obsolete once BI finally moves forward with ArmA 4.
Glad you like this very very old mission! There should be all three rearm crates in all helicopter bases, one each for fuel, ammo and repair.
How about 2 more mission variants : destroying main battle tanks and destroying enemy helicopters(attack, armed, and transport) ?
I suggest to decrease the number of helipads to below 4 and delete repair support, I think that would be helpful to optimize it.
Please don't give up on this potentially good scenario, all you need to do is just deleting some unnecessary features to optimize it. I found other features perfect and I don't think there should be more.
I mentioned about difficulty issue a year ago but now I gound that the difficulty is actually well balanced and challenging for attack helicopters, just not for pawnee. i think you can keep this difficulty.
the only thing that is keeping it from being perfect is a bad optimization. I tecentky got a desktop that is powerful enough to run arma 3 in 60 fps and all other scenarios I tried ran smooth. but this one drops to 30 fps and lags a lot.
Agreed on difficulty, the missions themselves were originally just tests and I never properly fleshed them out. I might test some news stuff I've planned in the future, but can't make any promises.
You should have a helitaxi and (a buggy) repair script in your supports menu (0-8, IIRC). If you helo gets damaged, the repair team should be able to handle it (unless it bugs out, which definitely can happen unfortunately). Helitaxi will take you back home when called.
I like flying AH-9 pawnee or humming bird but the missions are usually too hard for these helicopters, I immediately get hit and die when I fly them.
Also, there should be a way to return to the base quickly like calling the evac chopper when the helicopter is destroyed.
The containers near the base landing pad or any resupply depot (see map) fix + refuel + rearm your helicopter.

I started doing an ambiance system once and for some reason it just led into a ton of trouble. I can take a look one day, but don't expect miracles.
sorry for all the questions and what not but would it be possible to add radio chatter at least or is that something that would take alot of time if so you don't have to do it im just loving the mod man
Thank you for the feedback! There are already rare occasions where enemy helicopters will fly between bases, but it is mostly for aesthetic reasons. As for anything deeper than random patrolling group spawns, I used to have a few ideas, but now I lack the time and inspiration to really work on them. So I don't say this missions is _completely_ abandoned, but... I can make no promises. I try fix the bugs and upkeep it a bit every now and then at least.

It is the dude inside the base, near the entrance. When you point at him with your cursor, an option for requesting a helicopter should appear to your action menu.
This way you can also change the helicopter armament and it is really easy to implement.
It was an experimental attempt at trying to make he base feel more alive. When active, there is an occasional officer visit from other base and a cargo helicopter brings crates. It is now off by default, because it seems to cause some weird issues with performance, it seems that vanilla AI is terrible at trying to deal with helicopters. Also the whole system was done in a time I was very naive on how much stuff ArmA engine can handle.
Thanks!
I could, but since I'm pretty busy currently with other projects, I can't make any promises. It would certainly be an interesting mod for a mission like this though.
Thanks!
I copy-pasted the uniform wardrobe system from Bounty Hunter (the main mission I have been working on a few years) to this mission, and while it isn't quite as fancy as the Arsenal, it should allow you to change uniforms with relative ease.
I overhauled the mission generation completely. It now allows for mission cancellation (appears as an action), though it sometimes takes a few seconds to actually work due to how certain missions are structured.
Additionally, you can now pick and choose which mission types you want to have in your mission pool from mission selection menu, located on the map board. So if you don't want to bother with the crate mission (which I understand is hated by many), you can just disable it from the menu and it should no longer appear at all.
Hopefully these changes will make this legacy mission more playable!
I get what you're saying, but I made this mission way before I had any actual understanding how to implement stuff so that it can be easily altered later. The missions system under the surface is awfully outdated and cumbersome, it would take a full overhaul to make sure all of them cancel correctly and remove all mission created objects.
However, I have been thinking about a UI that would allow you to select which missions (not just combat - non-combat types) you want to include and then you could enable/disable them from a straight-up UI. I can make no promises at this point, unfortunately, but thank you for your comment, it has been acknowledged.
Glad you like it! This mission unfortunately is completely outdated, it would need a massive overhaul in order to continue development, and since all my time has been dedicated to Bounty Hunter mission now, it's unlikely I will do much for this one anymore. Not to mention that I broke my old joystick and can't fly at all with my new one. :D
