Sad that KEEN killed this mod. Now i must use custom turret controller and build wonky rotor turret for ability to hide it in celling (turret on piston)

Yeah, Keen broke how subparts physics works. It's not possible without performance affecting hacks now.

This doesn't seem to be working completely right anymore. I've verified it is allowing collision models in the subparts to be drawn with the script however physics is not being applied and the physics models do not move with the subparts.

I was wondering if there was any way I could convince you to combine you mod with this one: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1241560850 This combination would be the perfect fix for the vanilla "Clumsilly Space Hogging" turrets. I will also ask the mod author of the posted link the same thing. Cheers.

Hey guys, I am just starting to mod space engineers and I have created a new missile turret, I've got it in game and everything is working, except for the collision. I was pointed to this mod from a guy on discord, however I cannot get this to work with my mod. I'm sure there is something I am doing wrong. If anyone has figured out how to use this with your mod could you please tell me how you have done it? Thanks.

It's a bug with the game now, just wait for the next Space Engineers update or use the:
Welding Workaround and Hand Tools Fix mod

Yes, that's because that other mod replaces the models.
I have no plans to release another version that changes the placement size.

@Phoenix So apparently it appears that placement mods and this mod aren't compatible after all, unfortunately. Loading both at the same time causes me to either get the placement changes or the collision changes, depending on load order, but never both. Do you think you could release a version of this that modifies the placement ability after all?

Yes, it's compatible. You'll just need to place this before the mod that lowers the footprint.

I know you chose to keep the turret's placement box the same for balance reasons, but are mods that alter turrets so that they have a reduced footprint compatible with this?

I don't particularly care to spam a million turrets on my ship, but I do like recessed and armored turrets, and it would be nice if I could do that with the vanilla turrets. I used to use ravenbolt's compact turrets, but seeing as he's no longer modding and his mods are woefully out of date, they're no longer an option.

I'm unwilling to give up your new and much improved hitboxes, and I don't want to resort to rotor turrets for fear of clang (it would defeat the point of improving the turret hitbox, anyway), but I'm desperate for a recessed turret without adding new blocks. If turret placement mods are incompatible, could you perhaps release a version of this that reduces the footprint to 1x2x1?

@KC Pilot, That wasn't the only reason. Aragath mentioned in a stream that they looked at reducing the size to 1x1x2, but it was too easy to spam turrets on ships and it didn't look right.
So I gather keen has no interest in changing the block size, even if the collision models are changed.

@Potato Aim I'm almost certain they didn't include it for performance reasons and for the sake of turrets' idle animation not being deadly in survival

The only reason for the 3x3 base was because this was not possible before, so why not change the base to 1x1 now since this is now possible?

This works on STABLE now. I'll remove the warning flag next time I update, as I need to post a fix to work around issues with voxels.
